What I Eat Makes the Difference

Most people don’t seem to care what they eat. As long as they can consume it they will eat it. I do not follow those rules. My body does not tolerate anything that is not good for it. It fights back for real. I am even going to step out and say that is true for all people.

Just take a look at some of our young people’s faces. Acne is prevalent amongst them. I can hear them now. Food does not give me pimples. Well actually pimples are caused by lots of factors, but it does not help if the diet consists of lots of fatty, sugary foods and little to no water.

I do not have a problem with acne but I have other problems that flare up when I don’t eat right. For instance when I don’t eat enough green vegetables my gums get sores on them. How do I know that it is from lack of greens? They go away once I include them back in my diet.

If I lack fibrous foods such as whole grains or fruit, I have problems with my bowels and I get headaches. But I must always include water when eating fiber because the problem will compound and not get better.

There are days when I feel really tired seemingly for no reason. It is usually due to insufficient iron. So again I analyze my intake of leafy green vegetables and dried fruit such as raisins. I do not eat red meat and rarely eat chicken or fish so I rely on the veggies to replenish my health.

Another cause of sluggishness is overeating or eating late at night. Even if you are a vegetarian you are doing yourself harm if you eat late at night or eat too much food. The stomach has to work overtime trying to digest food at a time when it should be resting. This overworking of the stomach actually makes you tired.

I have asthma and it is pretty much under control. I know most of my triggers and for the most part can avoid them. I know that eating snow cones can trigger an attack especially if it has too much syrup on it. Ice cream also has a similar effect. I can indulge in them occasionally but if I were to make a habit of eating these sweets I would end up in the emergency ward.

Although eating lots of fruits and vegetables is important. The one main nutritional item that a lot of people neglect is water. Lack of water causes a lot of problems that people do not even understand. Since our bodies are made up mostly of water it makes sense to keep it replenished.
Problems such as constipation and kidney problems will be almost non existent with plenty of water in the diet. Sodas, caffeinated drinks, and juices cannot replace water. Although pure juices are good for you, they still do not contain enough water for your body.

Do I believe that what I put in my body makes a difference? O yes I do! If we all want to be honest we know that most of our problems are caused by what we consume or fail to consume. So take inventory and see what you are doing to help or hinder your health and make the appropriate changes if necessary.

The Mistaken Have, Do, Be

I look around at people in the world and I am amazed how people give themselves value. This person has a piece of paper that gives them a title, and that title becomes who they are. This guy over here buys a car, and associates that car with who he is and treats it as though it is the most precious thing on the planet and that he will be damaged if the car is damaged. I watch another person fall in love and put their entire identity into that other person as well as their happiness and joy. It makes me sad to see people and their inability to recognize their own value. It makes me sad to see people put their own value and happiness and sense of self into things that are destined to fall apart and fade instead of themselves.

Many people have this perception of have do be. They believe that what they have is based upon what they do. They can have this house instead of that one because they do this and make a certain amount of money. This is some what true because of a limit on income, however, the place that they go wrong is in the fact that they then base their own self worth on those things. They have this because they do that, and those two combined must be who they are. I live in a $75,000 house because I am a roofer and only make $11.00 an hour so therefore I am a poor roofer who works hard and barely gets by. This is so far from the way things should be. It is not what we do or have that establishes who we are, but who we are that establishes the other two.

We must learn to come at things from a be, do, have mindset. We must take the time to get to know ourselves. We must first be, then we can do and have.Who we are dictates what we do because what we do is an expression of the person we have become. It fulfills us because it is a part of who we are, not something that decides who we are. It is an expression to the world of what we represent. It is something that creates joy and happiness in our lives because it allows us to use our creativity and expression. That then dictates what we have, and if what we have is very little because we make very little at what we do then it becomes ok because we do not tie our identity to those things. We are ok with having little because we are doing it from a place of being instead of taking the things we have and allowing that to create our perception of who we are. We must always come from a place of be, do, then have.

The more you are able to recognize who you are, and who you are not, the more you will be able to find a place in the world that feels like home. Myself, I am an expressive person who loves to learn, and loves to share that information with people. Especially in the world of personal development and growth. So my natural place in the world is in writing books and articles and in expressing myself through words and knowledge. How well I do that will dictate how much I have and what I have. Mother Teresa knew who she was. A caring person who loved people unconditionally. That caused her to find a place in the world, the Catholic Church, where she was able to help as many people as possible live happier lives. That dictated what she had, which was very little, but she was ok with that because of what she was doing in the world. It wasn’t at all that she was unable to find money. She was actually very good at getting funding for people in deprived parts of the world. She literally raised millions of dollars and used it to help people. So the real question doesn’t come down to what you want out of life or what you plan on doing to get it. Instead, you need to ask who you are. What is your be? Answer that, and the rest will naturally come to you.

Great Tips And Advice For Bathroom Remodelling Ideas

In many homes, decorating or revamping the bathroom is just an after thought. Most bathrooms are either sterile like an operating theatre or in some cases just plain old ugly! Many homeowners are so unconcerned with design ideas for their bathroom that they make no effort to do any bathroom remodeling at all, which is a real shame as the bathroom ends up letting down the rest of what may be a beautifully remodeled house.

We actually spend a lot more time in our bathrooms than we realize and no guys I’m not just talking about women! With this in mind it makes sense to pat some attention to your bathroom, not just keeping it clean and hygienic but making an effort to make it comfortable and yes, attractive.

Lets face it many of us never make much of an effort to keep the bathroom spotless let alone thinking about bathroom remodeling ideas. Being a bit of a handyman I know all about this as I have done many small house remodeling jobs around the neighborhood. After doing several really nice bathroom remodeling jobs for other people it finally got me to thinking about bathroom remodeling ideas of my own. Before this I pretty much left the bathroom remodeling alone and stuck to kitchen and living room projects with the occasional bedroom decoration.

The job that really got me thinking about bathroom remodeling ideas was putting in a skylight in my friend bathroom ceiling. My bathroom has only one window and a pretty small one at that. Obviously this causes with not only natural light problems but also restricts natural ventilation which can lead to a multitude of bathroom problems. So the first of the bathroom remodeling ideas I decided to implement for my tired old bathroom was a ceiling bathroom skylight. It turned out to be one of the best bathroom remodeling ideas I have ever had, in fact the only downside to this bathroom remodeling project was with all the extra natural light I had to do a whole load of bathroom decorating too!

Obviously not all bathroom remodeling ideas have to involve structural alterations. One of my favorite bathroom modeling ideas is to replace the existing towel rails and toilet roll holders with polished chrome or even wrought iron as this is really simple but will also give your bathroom an upscale feel. Also if you have tile flooring in your bathroom then another really inexpensive bathroom remodeling idea is to get a nice quality bath mat to put in front of the toilet, lets face it there’s nothing worse than a cold floor in the morning! Ok so maybe this is not really a great example of bathroom remodeling ideas but I included it to show that you can improve your bathroom without having to do any really drastic bathroom remodeling.

The Truth About Network Marketing (MLM)

Have you thought about making changes to your lifestyle by starting a business? Have a business idea but don’t know where to begin the road to financial independence?

What about network marketing a.k.a. multi-level marketing (MLM)?

In this article, I will attempt to explain the truth about MLM and their advantages and disadvantages.

Let’s face it. The 9-to-5 rat race just won’t cut it these days. With living expenses going up, and gas prices escalating to a new high, gone are the days when families lived on the father’s salary and the mother was a stay-at-home mom raising the kids. Gone are the days when you received a big fat pension when you turn 65.

Nowadays, many American families still find it hard to make ends meet. The mom’s salary is not enough to pay the bills too. What are we to do? Develop a tertiary income?

One of the ways to develop a tertiary income is through a business model called multi-level marketing, or network marketing to some folks.

What is network marketing? Network marketing is a form of direct sales where you sign up as a distributor, pay your signup fee, purchase products from your distributorship, and share the business opportunity with others and hope that they can be your distributor too. When your distributors buy from their distributorship, YOU get paid a commission.

The beauty of this business is that there is no overhead, no employees, no commute, and no inventory to stock up. Pretty cut and dry. Right? Wrong!! There is more to it than this.

To be successful in this business, one must:

  1. develop good sales presentation/face-to-face selling skills,
  2. be able to duplicate himself,
  3. get a good mentor,
  4. have a reasonably priced product/service that sells.

The truth of the matter is that successful network marketers must be good in closing a sale. He/she must be good at doing face-to-face selling or sales presentations to a prospective recruit or a group of recruiters. A successful MLM’er will have a greater success ratio of recruiting prospect if he himself is doing the sales presentation as opposed to having some big name person in the company, like Robert Allen, do all the smooth talking for him.

Think about it. If your friend wanted you to check out a sales meeting for some obscure MLM company, and you found out that your friend is not doing the sales presentation, then it is your friend that is NOT doing the selling to you, but rather the person who is doing the dynamic public speaking. Yet your friend wants YOU to buy into the opportunity even though he is not selling you any anything. Your friend wants you to sign up so that he can earn a commission off of your signup fee. Does that make sense?

Countless times have I been approached by some of my friends who have discovered this “NEW” business opportunity and talk to me about how good the opportunity is but can’t get up in front of a group of two people to do a sales presentation. To me, he would not be very convincing. If he is not successful in this business, how can he expect me to be successful?

This leads me to the next topic, duplication. Duplicating oneself is one of the biggest aspects of network marketing that is hard to achieve. Training your recruits to become leaders by teaching them sales presentation and/or public speaking skills is one of the most difficult things to do for your recruits. The fear of public speaking is what prevents people from doing a sales presentation. It amazes me that people would rather die than to get up and speak in front of a group of people. If the opportunity is so good, then how come your friend isn’t getting up there and doing some public speaking?

Another thing that makes a successful networker successful is working under the tutelage of a success coach or a mentor. It is unfortunate that many sponsors would say anything or promise you the world to get you to fork over the $329 or so signup fee only to disappear on you after he gets his recruitment bonus. Too often this leaves the new recruit left in the cold with no help whatsoever. If you plan to join an MLM company, make sure that you get a good mentor who can help you succeed. Make sure that your upline knows people who can provide you a good mentor. After all, he is not successful unless YOU are successful.

Finally, a successful network marketing distributorship should have reasonably priced products. Is the product reusable? Do people come back to buy more? How much is the product? Shampoo, for example, is a good product that some MLM companies peddle. Yet, some of these shampoo bottles cost way up to $50 a pop! Who in his right mind would spend $50 for a bottle of shampoo? That is ludicrous. If you see an overly priced product like a $50 bottle of shampoo being marketed by MLM’ers, you must think twice if their opportunity really is worth it, or if the upline really makes money off these big, fat price tags.

Speaking from personal experience, I have been with over 10 different network marketing companies. From my past experience with all business opportunities, I have found MLM to be both financially and emotionally draining. I never made a dime from any of those companies. Mainly because I was unable to satisfy all four requirements mentioned above.

Does that mean that MLM is bad? Of course, not. It just means that network marketing simply does not fit my abilities and current talents. Donald Trump, for whom I have the utmost respect, did not start off with a network marketing company. He started off in real estate. Real estate is very expensive, yet he was good at it. But he is not good at network marketing. He found a business opportunity that fit his natural abilities and talents. Plus, his father was his mentor in the real estate business. Today, he still is a powerful negotiator in negotiating real estate deals. Yet Donald Trump could not sell ice to an Eskimo.

Are there other opportunities out there other than MLM? Sure there are. You just have to keep looking for the ones that fit your abilities and talents. Sometimes, network marketing may NOT be for you. Perhaps real estate DOES work for you. Or vending machines.

Never stop dreaming your dreams. But if you do not change what you are currently doing, then nothing will ever change.

The Freedom Of Life That We All Deserve

I was driving home earlier today when I noticed a flock of birds flying over head. As gracefully as a ballerina gliding across the dance floor, they soared high in the sky. Catching the wind currents as easily as a professional baseball player catches a fly ball. They were beautiful against the gorgeous gentle blue of the sky. In a moment I caught a glimpse of what true freedom is. What it is like to be able to soar high. To not be bound by gravity, or rules made up by other people, or limited to the simple thinking that so many people settle for. In a single moment, my heart was lifted and my spirit began to soar.

I spent the rest of my journey home with a big smile on my face because I knew that everything in my life would be ok, and be perfect just as it is. As it will be. That there is an incredibly benevolent force that wants us to realize true freedom in this lifetime. That wants us to know what happiness and peace are. That it doesn’t matter how long our life is or how many years we have, but the quality of those years. To breathe deeply and truly smell the air. To open our eyes and really see every tree as if it were the first time. To feel the sun on our face and the wind on our skin. To taste water, and the gentle kiss of someone who moves our heart in ways that we have never imagined before. To love those we care about and to know that every single moment is ours to do with as we wish, and that freedom, is using those moments to find a place inside ourselves that is complete happiness and peace.

So many people in this world limit themselves and never allow themselves to experience true freedom. Their hearts cling to things that are no good for them or only cause them pain. Their souls cling to stuff that only causes them more sorrow and pain. True freedom is not about laws, or rules, or regulations made by other people. True freedom is about what lies within us. It is about expression in a world that is full of people who want to stiffle our ability to think and to grow. It is about finding peace and happiness inside ourselves in a world that is so full of chaos. Be sure to watch a child and recognize what true innocence looks like. Remember to smell a flower and recognize what heaven smells like. Take the time to look at something beautiful so that you remember what the angels look like. Take the time to breathe deeply and take life in. Remember to find your own freedom.

In the day to day grind of life, things can get very overwhelming and it can sometimes feel as though the weight of the world is sitting on our shoulders. Bills to pay and work to be done. Stuff that has to get finished and places to be at specific times. So much to do and so little time to finish it all. Even in the chaos. In the struggle of every day life, take the time to pause, even if just for a moment, and feel the true beauty of being alive. Take the time to smile and enjoy the experience of life. True freedom comes from not being bound by the everyday things. By being in the world but not of it. Be in the world, but don’t let it make you a part of it.

Voice-Data Network Solution - What To Consider Besides Bandwidth And Cost

When you are deciding on a voice/data network solution for your business the obvious factors to take into consideration are bandwidth and cost. However if you base your entire solution on those factors alone you risk facing issues you could have easily prevented with just a bit more strategic thought and planning.

The article “Why Do Businesses Prefer T1 And T3 Bandwidth Connections” is a good attempt at addressing the business issues involved with the decision making process for a small or medium business with limited telecommunications / network connectivity needs.

But that is just a start.

For businesses, with more than rudimentary network connectivity needs, there really is much much more involved in driving these kinds of decisions. Also, there are several more technology options beyond T1/T3 (aka DS1/DS3) and xDSL. It’s also important to understand that Bandwidth and cost, while important, are rarely the only drivers of solutions in this space.

The driver for solutions here is business problems.

What does your business need?

High volume public and/or private network throughput? Robust Availability with Substantial SLA (Service Level Agreement) guarantees? International reach? Flexibility? Cost Effectiveness? Consistent product/feature availability within a given geographic region? etc.

If a business’ telecommunications needs are:

5 or less locations with Email, Web surfing and ~20 phones lines or less….than xDSL, Cable or a Mixed Services (integrated) Local DS1 are all on the table as options.

For larger businesses that may have a need for private connectivity between branch locations, to maintain a call center, host internet or external partner facing servers, or in anyway depend on network connectivity as part of their revenue stream…… xDSL or Cable are rarely options.

Businesses in this category need the reliability and “known quantity” of telco services, that tend to leverage DS1, DS3, OC3/12 etc as local access, as a component of availability of their larger solution. Additionally Metro Optical and Ethernet solutions, where available, are increasingly more cost effective and flexible alternatives to copper and SONET based local access services.

The bottom line when working through a decision on a voice/data network for your business is to look beyond just bandwidth and cost. You must also consider the requirements and impact for your existing AND future applications, infrastructure, volume, network stability, security/privacy, partner/customer interface, and supplier connectivity. Ensuring all these factors are considered will ensure your solution addresses all possible business requirements……. and prevents the potential for embarrasing or frustrating issues in the future.

Trying To Lose Weight? Check Your Gut

Did you make that New Year’s resolution to lose weight? Are you still following that New Year’s resolution? Frustrated that you can’t lose weight? Tried all those MLM products that promised you less pounds on the scale yet took more money out of your pocket?

Maybe it is not your fault. Every year, men and women are in a constant battle of the bulge. But what is the secret to shedding the unwanted fat? Is it the fat? Or is it something else?

In this article, I will discuss the problem of weight loss by addressing the toxicity in your gut, particularly mucoid plaque.

Let’s face it. The weight loss industry is big business for health food stores, networking marketing nutrition companies, weight loss centers like Jenny Craig, and private health clubs.

But what is it that you are trying to lose? The fat? Or the plaque?

It is a fact of life that eating less and exercising more will promote weight loss. Is there something more than just the fat itself? There is! It is called mucoid plaque.

Dr. Richard Anderson, a naturopath, coined the term “mucoid plaque” to refer to the layers upon layers of mucous-like substance along with the presence of rotting food that line the inside surface of the gastrointestinal tract.

It is the degrading of food in our gut that contributes to the presence of intraintestinal parasites, slowing down of peristalsis, and the lowering of internal body pH. Most of this rotting food is due to the ingestion of highly processed foods such as table sugar, table salt, fried foods, and foods that are canned, pickled, frozen, cooked, or chemically altered such that our cells can not uptake nutrients in their original natural form.

Mucoid plaque grows continuously whenever we eat these kinds of foods. It also contributes to the pounds we are so desperate to lose on the bathroom scale. Many times, these rotten foods do not get defecated through the “back door” but rather stick to the mucous lining and get lodged there for the long term. It is this part of your feces that smells the worst whenever it IS eliminated from the intestinal tract and into the toilet.

It is not uncommon for people who carry this mucoid substance in their guts to have health problems that include: obesity, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, leaky gut syndrome, headaches, nausea, lethargy, diarrhea, osteoarthritis, and so on.

This toxic substance is really a poison to our bodies because if mucoid plaque is not eliminated, the toxicities in this substance are reabsorbed back into our bloodstream giving rise to the symptoms that were discussed.

Have you have ever observed people whose body structure includes a very obese abdomen but a very thin chest, arms and legs in comparison? In other words, they have abdominal obesity but not thoracic or extremities obesity? These are the men who have big “beer” bellies and the women who have that double-spare tire look….a spare tire above the belt line and a spare tire below the belt line.

I guarantee you that none of these has anything to do with drinking beer. Although it can be, most of the time it is due to their consumption of processed foods that stick to their guts. Processed foods stick like glue along with the mucous like product produced by the cells that line our intestinal tract to protect the integrity of the tract against the presence of these foods.

It is mucoid plaque that also blocks the outflow of lymph nodes that line the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. What happens here? Lymph system is responsible for picking up cellular debris, carrying it through the lymphatic system and dumping this waste into the GI tract. If mucoid plaque prevents this from happening, the lymphatic system backs up with cellular waste no where to go or go elsewhere in the body.

Globally, this results in toxic waste having to leave via the skin, which explains why obese people have massive body odors, and via the lungs, which explains why they have bad breath.

How can we get rid of mucoid plaque?

First of all, one must change his diet. The person seeking ultimate weight loss much start eating the right foods. Foods such as fruits, vegetables, and high fiber products. He/she must eliminate all processed foods. Sorry, guys. That means no more Big Macs or Whoppers anymore because meats have a tendency to stick to the GI tract since meat is chemically altered once it is cooked.

I recommend that you should fast from all solid foods for a week and start doing a juicing diet. Start making fruit shakes instead of eating the fruit. Here is why. By juicing your fruits and/or vegetables, you make juices more readily available to the cells of your GI tract. This is very important especially for intestinal cells that are smothered over by layers of dense, putrid mucoid plaque, and only fluids and not solids can reach the inner depths of this garbage dump.

Once these cells become rejuvenated by the nutrients in the shake, they will develop some energy if not enough to undergo peristalsis, the natural undulating movement that bowels do in order to move food through the GI tract.

Sometimes, doing a week long fast by doing the juicing method is not enough. You also have to do some exercise. Yes! I know! All you couch potatoes have been avoiding this as much as possible. But you need to exercise.

Specifically, you want to do abdominal exercises such as abdominal crunches, reverse crunches, and butterfly crunches. You also want to do some back lifts as well. What these exercises do is not only strengthen the rectus abdominus muscles but also massage the GI tract in such a way that any sticky plaque will be dislodged from the inside surface. Believe me it works. Do not be surprised if you have the sudden urge to go to the toilet immediately after having done only 30 abdominal crunches.

Try doing about 100 to 300 abdominal exercises on a daily basis to help further massage the GI tract. These exercises will cause an increase in the intra-abdominal pressure which in turn will put pressure on the GI tract to help push the old mucoid plaque through. I have had a patient who reportedly lost 8 pounds in one week by doing 500 abdominal exercises every day!

When you get to the toilet, you will notice how stinky this mucoid feces is. Sometimes it will take the shape of your intestines and will come out in one huge long piece of poop! Believe me. The smell of this will gross you out. But at least you are getting rid of it! With the smell this bad, you do NOT want to be smoking in the bathroom while you are sitting on the throne.

After going through a week long cleanse, you will notice that you are breathing better, and your waistline will give you that feeling of “emptiness” in your abdomen. The lack of presence of mucoid plaque in your gut will allow the diaphragm that divides the abdominal cavity from the thoracic cavity to contract better upon inhalation and to relax better on exhalation. You will also notice that you will be able to tighten your belt a notch or two.

A weeklong cleanse of mucoid plaque might NOT be enough for some people. You might have to fast from solid foods for more than just a week. Morbidly obese people will have to do a longer fast because of all the years of caked-on processed foods he/she is carrying in their gut.

Once mucoid plaque is removed, the lymph nodes that line the gut are now free to dump their cellular waste in the gut, and edema buildup in the peripheral tissues such as the skin will resorb itself through time.

If you plan to lose weight, lose the weight in your gut first and the “fat” weight will go easily.

Not everybody that is obese or overweight will be able to fix their weight problem right away. Some people have other issues such as hypothyroidism. Always check with your health care provider before undergoing any fasting or exercise program.

Hope these wellness concepts will work for you. Lose weight and feel great!

Real Estate Shopping - How to Find the Right Neighborhood

When purchasing a home, there are many factors to consider. So many, in fact, that it is easy to overlook, or forget to research the neighborhood that surrounds your “perfect” home. Recently, I made a horrible decision about a neighborhood, which ultimately ruined my hopes for a quick turn around on my investment. Whether you are purchasing a home for yourself and your family, or as an investment, it is imperative that you understand the dynamics of the neighborhood.

Take the time to explore. If you are gregarious, with a penchant for organizing community events, and getting to know your neighbors by name, look for signals that the neighborhood is welcoming and open to your personality type. If there is no evidence that the homes in the neighborhood are inhabited except in the mornings and evenings, this is probably not the neighborhood for your community spirit. On the other hand, if you notice a few tire swings, families walking dogs, and signs posted announcing the next community meeting, you might have found the perfect spot!

One word of caution though; I recently read a story in the local newspaper about a neighborhood association that cited a homeowner for failure to keep his yard mown to specifications. The homeowner was rightfully upset in my opinion, because the untrimmed lawn was temporarily graced with a blanket of bluebonnets, whose short season of beauty should always take precedence over any neighborhood restrictions! When the gentleman pointed out the fact, the homeowner’s association rightfully rescinded the citation. Score one for nature and for Texas!

Visit your prospective neighborhood at different times of the day, especially weekends. Investigate all property restrictions and any homeowner’s associations that require membership. If possible, attend a homeowner’s meeting, and familiarize yourself with the names of the officers. Force yourself to knock on doors and introduce yourself as a prospective friendly neighbor. The neighbors are usually as curious about you as you are about them, and it is a nice way to show your interest in becoming part of a community.

If there are homes for sale in the neighborhood, do your homework! It is particularly important to know the facts about how long homes in the neighborhood have been on the market, as well as the asking price, and whether it has been adjusted. With the help of the Internet, this is an easy task, and will definitely help you make a wise decision.

If you have children, visit the schools your child will be attending. A school around the corner can be either a great asset, or a pain in the neck. Schools are usually very welcoming to visitors, and teachers are easy to meet, and schools are a great snapshot of the general make-up of a neighborhood.

Finally, look closely at any commercial areas that are near, or in the neighborhood. Like schools, nearby shopping can be wonderfully convenient, or horribly detrimental to your purchase. When I purchased my property for investment, I failed to perform my due diligence, which turned that deal into a real stinker! At first, I thought the corner store was great, but I had neglected to visit the neighborhood at night. I soon found myself saddled with a house located in the middle of a drug-infested area. The beautiful back yard I had looked forward to enjoying, was really just a way station for needle users and crack smokers. The local law enforcement in the small town seemed to have given up on attempting to control or shut down the thriving drug business that operated out of the store that was located just two houses down from the one I had so unwisely purchased.

With any major purchase, it is imperative that you research as much as you possibly can. I learned my own lesson the hard way when my property was invaded and most of my personal belonging stolen to feed someone’s drug habit. Fortunately, I was able to resell the house, but it took me six months. I hope that my experience will serve as an example of how to make the worst mistakes possible in a home purchase, and that you will learn to avoid making regrettable choices.

Minding Your Own Brand - Why Did They Boo Damon and Not Pedro?

Both left Boston on bad terms, both left for “better contracts”, and both went to New York teams. So why upon their return, did Red Sox fans give Pedro Martinez a standing ovation and gave Johnny Damon a round of boos? I think Pedro summed it up best in his press conference, “Johnny put on the wrong uniform” and Red Sox Nation let him know it.

You will never find people more loyal, faithful, and passionate about a brand than Red Sox fans. Even though they were not winners for 86 years, fans stuck by this brand through all the high and the very low moments in this brand’s history.

So why don’t most brands induce this level of passion? Because most brands are not extraordinary. Unlike most brands, the Red Sox have always done things in an extraordinary way, whether it is a come from behind 2004 championship win or a heart wrenching 1986 World Series loss. Good or bad, this brand has always given fans something to be passionate about.

John Henry’s group may own the team, but “Red Sox Nation” owns the brand. Red Sox Nation don’t follow this team blindly; they have taken ownership of the brand and are committed to its success. Red Sox Nation are a group of brand advocates who cheer the victories, but also have no problem making it known when someone is not performing up to par. Based on fan reaction, Terry Francona said he thought his name was “You Suck” numerous times during his first season as manager.

A brand is more than just a logo or corporate identity. A brand is shaped by everything a company says and does, both inside and outside the organization. The strength of a brand is determined by the experiences surrounding the brand and how people feel when they interact with the organization. Therefore, companies must create extraordinary experiences and build brand cultures that inspire employees, customers and anyone who touches the company, to be passionate about the organization, take ownership of the brand and actively contribute to the brand’s success.

Don’t just settle for repeat customers, loyal patrons, or even plain old fans. Build extraordinary experiences and a brand culture surrounding your organization which inspires people to become advocates for your organization. Like the Red Sox, build “{Your Company’s} Nation”.
