Electric Organs Aren’t Cool Anymore

It seems in recent years that the electric organ has become very uncool in favour of smaller more modern looking keyboards such as the Yamaha Tyros. It’s a shame because the organ can do everything a keyboard can do and more. In my opinion, the organ is also more playable as a live instrument. Because of the bass pedals, you can play the organ without any auto chord or drum machine and get a very respectable sound. The keyboard on the other hand would sound thin, definitely lacking without auto chord/bass. Of course keyboards are considerably cheaper than organs and take up less room and so has created a new generation of keyboard players, some of which could never afford the hefty cost of an organ and that’s got to be a good thing.

So is this the end for the electric organ. What could the organ manufacturers do to rekindle the interest in organs? Well they were and still are designed to be a piece of furniture. Great big lumps of wood, which appeal to the older generation, which is why they have the reputation of being an older person’s musical instrument. This need to be changed so they appeal to all generations. The next major change has to be the cost. A top of the range electric keyboard such as the Yamaha Tyros would cost between two to three thousands pounds new. The top of the range Roland Atelier organ will cost you in the region of twenty thousand pounds new.

This change may have already started with new models from Yamaha with the Yamaha D-Deck organ and the top of the range Yamaha Electone Stagea. Both are portable and very modern looking. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information on these models unless you read Japanese. Yes, Yamaha have decided there is no organ market in the UK, Europe or the USA. So if you want one of these models you will have to import it yourself.

One of the most important oils used in traditional and ancient medicine has been the oil from the tea tree. Tea tree oil has been used to treat diverse health issues from dandruff and athletes foot to acne.

On the market today there are many products that contain tea tree oil, including lotions, creams, shampoos, ointments, rubs and soaps.

Continue reading to find out how to join our Discover Natural Health newsletter, filled with natural ways to support your health and vitality.

The tea tree, also known as melaleuca alternifolia in botanical circles, grows wild in Australia and New Zealand (where it is called Manuka) and some parts of Asia.

In new Zealand, Manuka honey, which is honey made from the pollen of the Tea Tree, is considered to have many health benefits, and is used as a form of treatment both topically and through ingestion.

Traditionally, the people of Australia and Asia used extracts from the tree to make a tea like drink, and this is where its original name came from.

Today, extracts from the tea tree and its oil are used because of its healing properties. These are derived from compounds, which are contained in the tree called terpenoids, which have proven very effective as an antibacterial and and antifungal agent.

The fungicidal properties of Tea Tree oil are what make it an excellent treatment for athlete’s foot, which is a common fungal condition.

Tea Tree Oil is also used to treat cuts burns and minor injuries and when applied acts as a topical antiseptic, which has shown promise in treating lice, boils, yeast infections and insect bites.

Here are some research results from studies done on toenail fungus and acne:

  • Toenail fungus was relieved in 80% of 40 patients using alternifolia (tea tree) oil in cream vs. none in the placebo group of 20 (Syed 1999)

  • Acne treatment with tea-tree oil had significant benefits with few side effects in a single blind trial with 124 patients (Bassett 1990)

  • Other uses for tea Tree oil include treatment for toenail fungus, as a mouthwash (when diluted) and a treatment for thrush and oral yeast infections.

Preparations, which include Tea Tree oil, are readily available in most pharmacists and health food stores, and can be useful to have in your medicine cabinet to deal with minor day to day accidents.

Kids Online - Find Out Where They Go in Minutes

Kids online is a series of articles designed to help non technical parent get control of and create a safer Internet for their family.

Kids online today are, for the most part, much more computer literate then their parents are. This leaves many parents in the dark about Internet safety and what to do about it. I hope to change that and show parents in an easy step by step process how to make things a little safer for their kids online.

In this article I am going to show you how to discover where your kids have been online in a matter of minutes. This process is just a start because the logs we will be reviewing can be deleted fairly easily by a tech savvy teen.

Keeping that in mind, if you begin to notice that your history files are always gone that means someone is deleting them. That should raise a flag because if they are being deleted there is a reason.
I realize this is more of a reactive strategy then a pro-active one, which is always preferable but if you are just beginning your Internet Safety journey this is a great place to start. If you find bad things in these logs then you have a tougher road ahead of you.

    In case you were not aware, every site you visit online gets logged on your computer. Yes, that’s right, every site you go to and every page within that site gets logged. To find those logs follow these steps, on the Internet explorer menu at the top of the page;

    • Click on view
    • Click on Explorer bar
    • Select History

Your Internet history logs will show up on your left. As you can see, if know one has deleted them, the list is large. Every site for the past several weeks will be logged here. Clicking on a link will take you to the actually website that was visited so be careful.
Remember, if there is a site in the history logs it was visited by someone on your computer, no way around it, no excuses, it happened on your computer.

    What next?

My recommendation is for parents to get involved and to install monitoringblocking software. Being an involved Internet parent is crucial to your child’s safety online.
Software is their when you can’t be and will stop most all inappropriate media from getting into your home. Make sure your software has a key logger, without a key logger your child is still in danger because you will not be able to tell who they were talking to and what was being said to them.

Beginning a Spiritual Practice - The Importance of Beginning

Often, the most difficult hurdle to overcome in a spiritual practice is the hurdle of beginning. For even though one has the best intentions to improve the quality of life and to deepen one’s relationship with Spirit, it is in starting that a space must be made among many other competing priorities so that what did not exist before can be given room within an otherwise busy and committed life.

The challenge of beginning lies in this: it must seem centrally important to the self to move in the direction of spiritual deepening and awareness in order to make the sacrifices that are necessary to do so. While spirituality remains an area of interest or of curiosity, this degree of inner necessity may not be present. Reading about spiritual subjects or attending lectures or workshops may be sufficient. But when the longing grows to experience something more of a different way of living, to transform life, to experience God and one’s higher self directly, then more than reading or learning on a mental level is needed. Then actual ‘on-the-job’ training is called for. This is what a spiritual practice does. It offers an invisible step-by-step program toward heightened awareness, greater peace, and a spiritually-based outlook on life. To integrate this awareness into everyday life one must have daily contact with the source of this new experience. This contact occurs not through the mind, but through the body and its spiritual senses and through the heart and its deeper intuition. One cannot ‘think’ one’s way into a new life. One must have experiences in order to do this.

The sacrifice needed in order to begin a spiritual practice may be that of letting go of another activity or another use to which time has been put. Or, it may be that one sacrifices the comfort of ordinary conversation and time spent with others in order to pursue something more solitary and alone whose rewards are yet to be seen. The willingness to engage in something whose outcome is unknown can be exciting, but it can also demand courage and commitment from the self and a willingness to say “no” to other demands that are also placed upon one’s time.

Having determined to begin such a practice, the first step that is required is to: be simple. Do what you can do and do not strive to do what seems impossible to do or very difficult to do. Later on more difficulty can be added.

For example, if it is not possible to set aside twenty minutes a day to sit in a meditative way, then set aside ten. Begin where you can begin, and determine to make your time a regular daily practice, for in this regularity lies the means for growth and improvement.

Secondly: be creative. What is most important in establishing contact with the indwelling Spirit and with the spiritual around oneself is to be in a place that feels sacred, a place that communicates a sense of the higher realms and of the invisible, not a place that is ordinary or filled with the vibrations of others. Allow your creativity to find a way to define or locate a sacred space in which you can create an altar which represents your commitment to your spiritual practice. This altar can be very simple. It can be constructed out of a wooden shelf, a small table, or anything that will hold a single candle that can be lit during one’s practice. That is all. For the altar to resonate with a sacred vibration, however, it must not be used for anything else - neither to put other things on, nor as part of a different purpose other than its sacred one.

Thirdly: be committed. Be willing to sit in front of your altar and breathe quietly with your hand over your heart center in the center of your chest, allowing your mind to let go of thoughts as best as it can. In beginning, there is no more needed than this: to sit, to breathe, to bring energy to your heart center, to try to empty your mind.

Regular practice of this very simple kind, whether for ten or twenty minutes a day, will begin to make an inroad into your body’s knowledge of what is actually taking place. It will begin to open the line’s of communication between your everyday physical self and your soul-self that exists as another layer of your being.

Seeking to join the two parts so that they become one is the purpose of a spiritual practice, so that life can be lived more fully within the framework of everyday reality, and so that the perception of oneself can shift from that of personal and biological history, to the deeper knowing of oneself as a child of God.

Camping Checklist - Don’t Go On A Camping Trip Without It

What is more enjoyable than gathering the whole family and spending quality time for a few days outdoors at a campsite at State Park, Missouri for instance. There is no better way to have this kind of opportunity to get connected with Mother Nature to enjoy the scenery, flowers and wildlife.

It is understandable to get excited about your camping trip. However, it is important that you prepare everything beforehand as you may never know what nature has in store for us, be it good or bad.

eBay and How to Avoid Common Problems that Threaten Your Business

There are some things we all do which in the end lose us money and customers, wasting time and making life miserable. Hardly conducive to a good working environment. Problems take your mind off work, limits your growth, they must be prevented. These tips will help:

    * If something isn’t in perfect condition, don’t pretend it is. You’ll only cause disappointment, poor feedback, reports to eBay and PayPal and lots of requests for money back refund. While you shouldn’t, legally or ethically, list a poor quality item as perfect, there are actually benefits to highlighting the faults in your product. The legendary, Jo Karbo, mail order millionaire and author of Lazy Man’s Way to Riches, first brought my attention to this technique of all but ‘rubbishing’ your goods. In that book and others he wrote about mail order, Karbo explained that overtly revealing the faults in your product made the seller look more credible, more honest, and Karbo found his own products selling in much greater quantities with faults mentioned than without. In one sales letter, for golf balls, he mentioned these being quality balls, bearing the owner’s initials, but he also revealed them as no easier to find when lost than ordinary golf balls. Notice the subliminal effect that word ‘ordinary’ has on the balls on sale, both lifting their perceived value and making those tiny faults go almost unnoticed. In reality Karbo’s faults weren’t always faults at all, all Karbo wanted was to gain credibility, which he did by acknowledging these tiny imperfections which might otherwise go unnoticed!

    * Staying with the previous tip, you must also realise that what you class as perfect others might consider badly damaged; what you consider damaged someone else will view as a vintage collectible ‘in perfect condition commensurate with age’!!! In short, perception varies between people, often dramatically. Sometimes this is reflected in negative feedback, such as:

    —————————————–

‘Perfect Item’ seller said but It is Badly Damaged.

    —————————————–

Seller reported to eBay for describing this postcard in good condition!

    —————————————–

There is a way round this problem of perception varying between buyer and seller, and simply involves adding something like what follows to your auction description. Notice I always make it very clear I won’t be leaving feedback for the buyer until that person has left feedback for me which protects me against negative feedback being left because perceptions vary. This is my wording (for vintage postcards), feel free to adapt it to your business:

Condition of Bidding. We strive to describe items to the best of our ability. However descriptions are subjective and no two persons’ opinions may ever completely coincide. Please be aware that we always err on the side of caution, so a card in what some consider excellent condition, we will list as ‘good condition’, in which case no one should be disappointed. ‘No major faults’ for us means condition that is commensurate with age, without glaring creases or holes, but could mean minor bruising exists at corners for example. Please always check scans which we aim to make as clear as possible. All items are subject to money back refund. Please leave feedback when you are happy with the transaction and we will reciprocate.

    * Don’t complain about other sellers just for the hell of it or to help cut your competition on eBay. Be aware that all complaints are revealed to people against whom those complaints are made and this is not a private communication - your eBay ID will be included as complainant. So it follows, if your complaint is out of pure spite or belligerence you could earn yourself an enemy for life. And no doubt lots of complaints, negatives, spanners in the works from less forgiving victims. That’s time wasted and very bad for your image if someone decides to enlist outsiders to buy your products, leave negative feedback and complain about you to eBay and PayPal.

    * People with hundreds or thousands of listings can get inundated with questions from fellow eBayers and end up spending more time providing answers than actively listing or seeking new products to sell. Time is limited in any business and very often roughly the same questions are asked again and again, and again. Let these tips help you avoid wasting time this way:

    i) Questions relating to your listings, one-off or FAQs, can be answered inside your listing to benefit other visitors and prevent the same questions appearing again. For one-off listings, such as a unique collectible or rare item, answer the question inside your eBay account and tick the box beneath the answer which says ‘Post this question and response on my listing so all buyers can see it. Once posted, it can’t be edited’. That way everyone visiting your listing will see it.

If the question applies to items sold on a regular basis this indicates a deficiency in your product description. Solve the problem by providing the information inside your listing and use this template for future listings.

Cash Back Credit Cards - Are They Worth It?

There are a lot of people trying to get a cash back credit card - but are they for real? The lure of getting cash back has a lasting appeal, especially in days when people are feeling a financial pinch. But are they really worth what they promise? Here are some ways you can make sure that you get a real deal when you apply for yours, plus some tips on things to watch out for.

    Know How To Use Them

Credit cards are of the most value to those who know how to use them. This means that you can get the most benefit from a card simply by not leaving a monthly balance on the card, and by making payments on time. So if you can follow those two simple rules, then you can qualify to get the best benefits from a cash back credit card.

    Choose A Type Of Card

Every one has a certain type of credit card that they can profit from the most. For instance, a gas card will profit those the most that drive a lot of miles each month, and need to maintain a car, or spend time in a hotel. This is because the points that are given for your purchases can be used toward hotels, and you may get the most cash back for your purchases of gas. Some gas cards will even give you points for car maintenance expenses, and possibly the points may even be applied toward buying another car. A card that is selected for your greatest monthly expenses will give you the most benefits.

Also, see how much of a percentage of cash back is given toward your more ordinary purchases - like food, medicine, and gas (if it is not a gas card). This can go anywhere from 1% up to 6 % for some products. Obviously, you want the highest percentage you can get.

    Get One With Balance Transfers

This feature is especially important if you have balances on other credit cards. You can transfer them to your new cash back credit card and enjoy a 0% APR balance for up to 15 months. This gives you great savings in interest and can help you to reduce those other credit card debts, if you will pay the same amount on the new credit card.

Don’t Lose Your Rebates To Fees And Interest

This is one way that many people lose their benefits. Not comparing the various features listed in this article, and following its advice will often reduce their benefits reduced to a big fat zero - or less. Although they will get some rebate checks, they need to add up their late fees and interest for each month in order to determine if it really is good deal.

Choose a cash back credit card with a low rate of interest, no annual fees, or a lot of other fees. In addition, remember that by using it right, you also are building up a credit score - one that will allow you to buy the big purchases - especially if you don’t have all your credit cards maxed out.

Celebrate Administrative Professionals Day With Flowers

Administrative Professionals Day is just around the corner, always the same, last week of April. But for some reason we all tend to forget. Bosses and managers rushing around at the last minute searching for the perfect gift for that irreplaceable assistant, secretary or paralegal is a common sight. But why not make it easy. A bouquet of flowers can be just the right gift to say exactly what you want, if you know where to look. The ancient Greek and Egyptians had it right and even our forebears, the Victorians knew the power of flowers to get your message across without all the hassle and fuss of gifts that your trusty helpers may not like. Everyone loves flowers! Looking for the right flower to give an administrative professional? These floral beauties hold just the right message:

White Chrysanthemum - symbolizes trust, honesty

Give white chrysanthemums to assistants who are trustworthy and forward, always on time, ready to work and forthcoming about any issues that may arise.

Mullein, from the Snapdragon family - symbolizes good nature

You know who they are; the assistant with a bright smile and good attitude no matter the circumstances is deserving of the Mullein.

Blue Hyacinth and Bluebell - loyalty, dependability

There is always one in any office. He/she is always willing to stay late, come in early and work on weekends just to make your job easier. Give your loyal and dependable assistant a blue hyacinth or blue bell today.

The following flowers also make a great gift to deserving assistants:

    Queen Anne=s Lace - which represents self-reliance

Sunflower - for loyalty and constancy

Red Roses - thanks for a job well done

Pink Roses - thank you, appreciation and gratitude

Peach Roses - symbolize appreciation, sincerity and gratitude

So many choices, so little time? Well, a single rose of any color can symbolize gratitude.

These flowers can either be the centerpiece of your administrative professional’s bouquet or an accompaniment. Mix and match as you wish. Oh, and on the question of “What do you give an assistant who you want to fire, or otherwise are unsatisfied with?” On that question, we will just say “No comment.”

Pregnancy Stages - An Essential Guide to Pregnant Mothers

This is a basic guide to pregnancy which covers issues like the different stages to pregnancy and what usually takes place when a woman is pregnant. It is important to note that not all pregnancies progress in the same way, however this guide will be helpful to first time mothers and the men in their lives as it provides very basic information on what to expect during a normal pregnancy.

In a way, being prepared would help them avoid unwanted miscarriage from happening. It is important for a pregnant woman to receive good prenatal care throughout the various stages of pregnancy. Also, a good relationship with the doctor will be very helpful for both the expecting parents as the doctor will be able to explain and offer advice that are crucial for each stage of pregnancy.

The first thing that every expectant woman should know is that a normal pregnancy takes up to 40 weeks. This period is divided into three sections called trimesters, in which each trimester lasts about 13 weeks. Therefore each pregnancy goes through the first trimester, second trimester and third trimester. The development of the fetus in the pregnant woman is normally discussed according to the different trimesters.

In the first trimester of pregnancy, the changes can be very subtle and most times are not associated with being pregnant. One change that affects many women is the nausea and morning sickness or vomiting. However, in most cases, a woman might not associate the vomiting to being pregnant, more to being ill. Even though it is termed as morning sickness, it can be experienced at any time throughout the day.

Morning sickness is the result of changes in the woman’s hormones. As the hormones change in a woman’s body, it results in the feeling of nausea and morning sickness. Also, after the first month, the fetus in the pregnant woman starts to produce hormones. This surge in hormones will also add to the nausea and vomiting.

Not only that, the fluctuating hormones can cause some pregnant women to experience food cravings as well as irritability or unexpected and unpredictable mood swings. However it is good to know that the unpredictable mood swings will not last long. They will become less frequent after the end of the first trimester.

During the second trimester, a pregnant woman would have adapted to the various changes that has taken place in her body. At this stage the body has adjusted to the presence of a growing fetus. During this second trimester also, the fetus would have developed its own organs and has features which could already be identified.

The pregnant mother will also go through a noticeable weight gain. This is a natural progression, however, it should not be too abrupt more so for a first pregnancy. A weight gain that is too much too fast could indicate multiple births. On the other hand it could also be an indication of problems with the fetus or the expectant mother.

The fetus will have developed all of its own organs, most of them functional during the third trimester of a pregnancy. Most times, the fetus is delivered when the woman has gone through 38 to 40 weeks of pregnancy. However, should a fetus need to be delivered before that, it could survive on its own with medical assistance. This premature birth could occur from the 30th week.

It is during this last trimester that the pregnant woman will feel most uncomfortable. The expectant mother will be carrying the growing fetus in her, with the fetus applying pressure to the mother’s internal organs. This pressure could make the mother feel the need to urinate more often and could also cause back aches. The mother will also find it too uncomfortable to be able to get a good night’s sleep, which could add to her discomfort and fatigue.

This basic guide offers information on the major stages and development of the normal pregnancy. To get more detailed information, it is advisable for both parents to seek guidance from the local physician or obstetrician and gynecologist. Once the expecting parents are armed with information, it will be easier to recognize and understand the various stages of a pregnancy.

In conclusion, boat accessories are important to the appearance of your boat as it will increase the value of your boat should you one day decide to sell or trade your boat. Everything that you add to your boat will make a huge difference in the appearance of your boat. Don’t think that just because an item is considered non-essential, it is not that important. If you have extra money, buy them, if not, by following the rule of thumb, you’ll do just fine.
