What Are You Tolerating?

“I will not tolerate that behavior anymore.” I remember my mother saying that to me more than once during my formative years. This was not a suggestion. She meant to do something about it had I not gotten the message. What the behavior was is not important to me now. It’s the concept of tolerating.

The mastermind group I belong to shares resources. Since we formed in December to begin around the first of the new year we had time to exchange goal setting forms as well as other tools that are helpful in general. The one that caught my eye first was titled, “What Are You Tolerating?” The page was separated into two columns, each column with numbered lines. I was staring at two pages worth, one hundred possible items one might be tolerating. “Wow, that’s an awful lot of tolerating” I thought. Then I started to fill in what came easily to my mind. I got to 32 without blinking an eye. And that was what came up easily.

Maybe I should describe the concept and why it might be important to take stock of tolerations.

When my mother said she would no longer tolerate my behavior her goal was to let me know that something I was doing no longer worked for her. She was probably, in her infinite wisdom and glory, hoping to correct a behavior that was not going to work for me either outside of adolescence. She had clearly had enough and took action to be free of what could likely be looked at as, annoying the s*** out of her.

Tolerations are things we suffer, work around, try to ignore and put up with for a time.

Can you think of something right now that provokes mother’s phrase in your life? If it’s the behavior of someone close to you or a work colleague you may have to carefully craft what to say and when and how to say it. Sometimes the hard truth is that a person needs to get pink slipped out our lives. If you feel it’s too hard to talk with said annoyer, ask yourself this question. What is the cost to your psyche and that relationship when you stuff what you feel ?

If we are talking something simple, however, like the lock on your door is loose and so getting the lock open is a jiggling and wiggling marathon to get the key positioned right-that’s a toleration with an easier fix. One you can probably eliminate with a call to a locksmith. (If you’ve got a handy hubby or sig other, you will tolerate it til they get around to the honey do list.) This is a good time to mention that tolerance is a different concept and welcome in a world where the many variations on a theme of being human live side by side.

Here’s a “for instance” of a former toleration. A couple of years ago I had to replace a wallet I loved. My wallet lover was expensive, Italian, perfectly broken in and a rich brown in color. In fact it was too broken in and cards and money were forever falling out. My search for a suitable replacement ended in frustration and an “ok for now” choice. Well “for now” lasted 2+ years and every time I looked at my red, perfectly ok choice, which was in fact fatter than I liked my wallets, I had a slight sense of annoyance. After doing my toleration sheet I decided to dig out a gift certificate to Coach leather and do some wallet shopping. My new black, thin, chic wallet makes me happy. I feel like myself again. The moral of this story is something doesn’t have to be falling apart before you move on from it. It just has to no longer be a fit.

Here’s another one from my list; my top drawer, aka, my underwear drawer. It’s was a mess. It was not just a mess it was messed up. Jewelry strangled thongs, which shared a bed with camisoles I no longer wore and unmentionables that make me go Hmmm? Daily I said to myself, “I am going to do this on Sunday. I’m going to untangle and sort, give away or throw away what no longer works.” But like you, I do work. When a day off comes I resist giving it up to do something I know will be satisfying but not nearly as much fun as say reading the Times from end to end or watching that Netflix flick which has been on the kitchen counter for 4 weeks. (Do I detect another toleration in the form of an innocent bit of plastic on the counter gathering dust?)

Here’s the bottom line of tolerating. These creatures of “ok for now” steal our energy whether you think so or not. Usually, not always, we tolerate things we can change easily. I think we do so because we don’t recognize the full weight of those things lurking in our corners, drawers, and garages. We may swear daily we will do something about the missing light bulb over the stove, and swear and swear until we have to make it happen. What shifts? Awareness I believe. Doing this toleration exercise can be powerful in moving towards a bigger and better sense of control and power in your life. For some readers, the things I mentioned may live in the “don’t sweat the small stuff” category. For many more of you, they steal energy and focus. And I’d like to add I think the first group is fooling themselves.

The folks at Coach U have a great couple of pages worth of categories and lists of tolerations. It resides within their concept of a Toleration Free Life, and their tagline is, “Life’s Waiting.” You can see it by clicking on this link. (http://www.coachville.com//tl/tolerationfree/tolerationbank.html?) Their ideas may or may not be exact for you but will probably give you some ideas for your own life.

Clearing clutter feels virtuous. Replacing a simple thing like a light bulb makes sense. The weightless feeling that comes with an intentional life, where everything works and supports us? Priceless.

Homemade Baby Food - Safe Preparation and Storage Tips

Homemade baby food is a wonderfully healthy and nutritious alternative to using commercial baby foods. You can safely and easily make your baby’s food with just a little time and effort. Homemade baby food will open a world of tastes and textures to stimulate and entice your baby’s developing palate. The end result is a nutritious and tasty array of foods that you just cannot get when using commercial jars.

One thing that you will not be able to obtain when making your own baby food is the tools for industrial sterilization and cleansing. This does not mean that you cannot guard against food borne pathogens or other unwanted items in your homemade baby food. Here are a few simple and relatively quick things that you can do to ensure your homemade baby food is safe and healthy.

Preparation - You, the Areas and the Tools:

Always be sure to thoroughly wash your hands! Yes, it seems so common- sensical; we just wanted to remind you! Make sure that any tools or areas you use such as countertops, utensils, pots and pans, cutting boards and blender/food processors are thoroughly cleaned; preferably with an anti-bacterial soap (using a natural anti-bacterial soap is a fine option for those opposed to commercial cleansers). Never use the same cutting board for meats and fruits/vegetables. You should have a cutting board solely for meat preparation and a cutting board solely for vegetable/fruit preparation.

Safe Methods of Proper Food Preparation:

Fruits and Vegetables:

Always be sure to thoroughly wash and cleanse the fruits and vegetables that you will be using to make your baby food. Even if you are not using the peels or skins, and even if you buy Organic, you should always cleanse the produce.

Peeling skins, and pitting or removing the seeds is important prior to cooking. There are however many instances when you do not need to peel, pit or remove seeds. Peeling, pitting and/or seed removal will vary according to your baby’s age, the fruit/vegetable that you are cooking and the way in which you will be cooking the food item.

Using a wooden cutting board is safer than plastic. It has been shown that bacteria is easier to cleanse/remove from wooden cutting boards. Fruits and vegetables should be cut on a cutting board that is not used for meats.

Meats:

When preparing and/or handling meats, you should always have clean hands or use plastic gloves when possible. If you are going to be moving from preparing meats to preparing another food item, always wash your hands prior to handling the other food. Always wash your hands after handling meats, specifically after handling poultry products. This hand washing precaution applies after you have been handling eggs as well!

Do no use the same preparation surfaces or the same utensils that have been, or will be, used for your fruits or vegetables. As mentioned prior, using a wooden cutting board is safer than plastic. It has been shown that bacteria is easier to cleanse/remove from wooden cutting boards.

Always thaw meats in the refrigerator or the microwave and never on the counter! Never give an infant raw or semi-cooked meats, poultry, fish and eggs. In other words, babies and even toddlers need their meats “Well-Done”!

To ensure the utmost in safety, all Meats such as poultry and red meats, including fish, should be cooked as shown*:

* Cook all red meats to an internal temperature of at least 160° Fahrenheit. Check the temperature with a meat thermometer.

* Cook white meat poultry to an internal temperature of at least 170° Fahrenheit and dark meat poultry to an internal temperature of at least 180° Fahrenheit for doneness. Check the temperature with a meat thermometer.

* Cook fish to an internal temperature of 160° Fahrenheit. Check the temperature with a meat thermometer.

Other Food Safety Tips and Musts:

Do not leave uncooked or even cooked foods out on the counter at room temperature for longer than 1 hour. Frozen foods should not be allowed to thaw and then be re-frozen without first being cooked. Frozen foods should remain at a temperature of 0 degrees or lower.

Cooked and prepared foods should be kept in the refrigerator for no longer than 48 hours before they are used or frozen.

Foods in the freezer have varying storage times; it is prudent to use frozen baby food cubes within 1 (one) to 3 (three) months.

Branding Your Name

Don’t just buy a product and give out to potential clients. Does the product really meet your company needs? Is it the right promotion for you company? Learn how to find the right product for the right promotion.

Here are a few questions that you should ask before you use that one product:

What is your goal?
What is your end use for that product?
Who are the clients that you are trying to reach?

The following is an example buying a cheap inexpensive promotional product and how it was used to brand a company’s name.

If you give out a pen to a client, it is the cheapest or the best for your buck or did you find a reasonable nice pen but it is a little more than you want to spend? If you want to brand your name, the cheapest is not the way to go. You want your client to remember you in a good way. The cheap pen that you got at such a great deal broke the second time the client used it. Now, how does that client feel about your company. Is that client going to do business with you now and are they going to refer your company to anyone else? NO!

Remember, the pen you give to a client or a new client usually rotates to about 9 different people which are 9 new potential clients, but if the pen broke then what purpose did it have, none.

Always remember what your end result is with the product.

Patio Umbrella Buying Tips - Frame Components

As the rising trend for online shopping continues to grow by leaps and bounds, it is important for all consumers to perform their due diligence when choosing on a specific e-commerce vendor to buy from. As more and more mom and pop entrepreneurs take the helm in their knickers trying to cash in on the latest home based business opportunity, you should make sure that each online store you visit has taken a proactive approach to give you the most valid information and security needed to make an informed decision. When purchasing a patio umbrella for your home and back yard pleasure, it is imperative you read all of the specifications needed to make sure you understand exactly what you are purchasing. The following information should give you some basic guidelines to help in making your buying decision regarding a specific frame type: The Patio Umbrella and Market Umbrella Frame: Several basic components of the frame make up the “skeleton” of your Outdoor Umbrella. Umbrellas with Cranks and Push Pins: Most aluminum patio umbrellas have either a manual push open lift with push button pin or a crank to lift the shade canopy open. The umbrella crank is a device that is rotated to open a patio umbrella. Some aluminum umbrellas have the tilt-mechanism included with the crank to facilitate tilting the umbrella at the same time as opening them. Crank Style Umbrellas are definitely “NOT” recommended for use in commercial applications.

  • Pulley and Pin Umbrellas: Most wood patio umbrellas have a push up mechanism or pulley & pin type of feature to raise the umbrella. We recommend a simple manual push up type of operation with pin & hole option to keep the umbrella shade open for commercial applications. All too often restaurants and commercial resorts have challenges with patrons opening & closing umbrellas with pulleys and cranks resulting in damage to the unit or serious safety hazard issues from collapsing umbrellas to the un-aware customers beneath the unit.
  • The Top or Umbrella Finial: The top of the umbrella is called a finial. The umbrella finial adds decorative functionality to your market or patio umbrella and provides the finishing touch to the aesthetics of the umbrella. It also serves the functional purpose of anchoring the top of the shade cover or fabric to the umbrella frame.
  • The Umbrella Pole: The vast majority of umbrella poles are assembled in two pieces for ease of shipping and storage. The most familiar pole materials are wood or aluminum, but also may be fiberglass, steel, plastic or resin composite types. Many commercial grade solid pole umbrellas come as single solid piece that adds significant strength to help them withstand high wind pressure and the general rigors of commercial umbrella applications around resort, condominium pool areas, and restaurant applications.
  • The Umbrella Rib Arms: The rib arms of a patio and market umbrella are the pieces of an umbrella frame that spread and support the shade cover into the open position. The higher the rib count usually equals more strength and stability. The Fiberglass ribs featured on some Wind Resistant Market Umbrellas are outstanding at absorbing wind gusts without breaking and last four to five times longer than traditional wood or aluminum ribs.
  • Umbrellas with Tilt Mechanisms: Many residential patio umbrellas have tilt mechanisms as a feature to provide additional shade options for better sun protection. Tilt features come in various assortments, including buttons at the top of the umbrella frame underneath the rib hub, or crank feature tilts in conjunction with the crank handle.

Adwords Miracle - Results Are In

When I first saw Adwords Miracle I was very skeptical as everyone probably is. Then day after day I wondered if I really was passing on hundreds of dollars per day. It finally got to me so I took the risk and ordered Adwords Miracle.

The first week I owned Adwords Miracle was more of a learning experience than anything. I followed the instructions and performed some testing on my several adwords campaigns. Although I made some sales from the product I picked the first week was pretty slow. By slow I mean I only made about 1 sale per day of the single product I was testing adwords on. Then it hit me. Once I perfected this campaign I could move on to the next product.

Week two with Adwords Miracle was a drastic improvement in sales. This was due to the fact that I was now promoting two products instead of one. It is really amazing how you will learn to set up a campaign for a single product and once you know which keywords work all you have to do is monitor it making sure it makes sales. Now here is where it gets really interesting.

After my initial testing strategies I figured out that I could promote two products per single adwords campaign. Adwords Miracle will show you how to create an incredible landing page where you can compare and contrast similar products. This is great because when someone clicks on your ad they will see not one but two products that you will be able to make a commission on. If you are looking for an incredible adwords guide then Adwords Miracle is probably your best bet.

After several weeks using Adwords Miracle I am sorry that I had not taken the risk and ordered it much earlier. But, I cut my losses and eventually ordered it and it is the best thing I could have done for my online ventures. Adwords Miracle is an incredible tool that is loaded with tips and tricks that are suitable for the beginner up to the intermediate.

stop putting it off or it will never happen, Adwords Miracle

Can You Earn Any Cash Investing In Coins

Anything you invest your money into will have some risk involved. Coin collecting can be a fulfilling and rewarding hobby but if you want to make a profit from your coin buying you need to be prepared for this risk. Make sure you do enough research on the coin you are considering. If you do not have enough knowledge please seek the advice of a coin collecting professional before sinking a bunch of money in something. You can buy a fake coin all too easily if you do not have the proper knowledge.

Counterfeit coins that have been altered are not uncommon. Even the pros with many years experience can sometimes be fooled by some of the better counterfeits. Less than honest people may alter a common coin by adding a mintmark and make it look real to boot. If the coin has been certified by one of the major graders this should go a long ways in easing your mind. In the absence of a professional make sure you have enough knowledge to accurately judge the coin.

The value of a coin is often marked with a certain grade. You must know if this grade is correct. Things like whether the coin has been cleaned and how much wear it has will affect the grade of the coin. Remember whatever grade the coin has been assigned is just an opinion. Sometimes the graders do not always agree on everything so go with someone you respect and trust.

The coin market is no more stable than the stock market in many ways. You can buy a coin and have the value fall by the time you get ready to sell. This means you have the chance for big time gains or big time losses.

You may want to buy the coins you have been wanting and hold on to them for a while and when you get ready to sell them they might be worth more than you paid for them. Investing in coins could finance your coin collecting hobby if you do things right.

All About Visual Vocabulary And How It Can Help Your Small Business

Your Visual Vocabulary is an essential tool in your business’s brand identity toolkit. It is made up of all of the graphics that supplement your logo, forming the graphic “face” of your business and anchoring your brand identity.

Think of your logo as the “superhero” of your brand, and the Visual Vocabulary elements as its “sidekicks”; in many design applications and finished materials, your logo won’t appear by itself. It will have the help of all of these Visual Vocabulary elements to accomplish its job of communicating and connecting with your target market.

Your Visual Vocabulary can include design elements such as:

- Font styles: You should have a small collection of typefaces, font weights, and styles that you use regularly in your materials. Consider fonts for both print and web use, and specify styles for headlines, subheads, and body copy in each case, at minimum. For each style, you should specify the font to use, the color it should be, and its paragraph alignment: whether it should be centered, left-aligned, or justified (where the text lines up with both sides of the column).

- Colors: Creating a color palette for your business can add flexibility to your materials and give you an easy resource to go to when choosing colors for illustrations, graphics, or any other part of your Visual Vocabulary. If you keep your colors consistent and limited, then you’ll develop a more focused palette that will be easier for your audience to associate with your business.

- Shapes: The shape that you use for your bullets, callout boxes, color-blocked areas, and even borders in your materials can create a strong visual component that will contribute to your memorability.

- Layout: The layout of a piece is how the different elements are laid out on the page. This covers elements like the number of columns and the placement of all of the other Visual Vocabulary elements.

- Backgrounds: Using background screens or shapes, or even a specially designed watermark, can give your materials an extra bit of flair. You can also develop a special background that will make your materials stand out.

- Photographs: Photos can add a lot of personality to your materials and really help you to make a connection with your target audience. You can purchase stock photography inexpensively these days; buy a few shots that are compelling and really match the rest of your Visual Vocabulary. Make sure that you buy the highest resolution and largest size that you’ll need for materials down the road.

- Special textual treatments: For very special text that you want to highlight, such as your tagline, marketing bullets, sidebars, or bullets that detail your specialties, consider specifying a special face, size, and color to use in all of your materials.

- Paper type: Printing your materials on a special type of paper can make them look even more interesting. Papers come in different colors, textures, and thicknesses that can contribute to your material’s uniqueness.

To create a Visual Vocabulary for your business, you should create a set of specifications for the types of design elements you will use in all of your marketing materials. Once you have laid out the set of “rules” for your Visual Vocabulary, use the same elements consistently throughout your materials. When trends change, or when your business grows or your materials become stale, you can simply change some or all of these elements to create a new, fresh look.

Specifying the qualities of these design elements and using them consistently throughout your marketing materials will have many benefits, including:

- Increasing your brand’s memorability: A Visual Vocabulary gives your marketing materials more designed visuals. Adding more visuals makes your materials, and your company, more memorable.

- Making your brand designs more flexible: A Visual Vocabulary can provide you with a set of visuals that are more loosely tied to your business than your logo, which means that you can exchange and recombine those visuals for different campaigns, service offerings, or products. You can also redesign your Visual Vocabulary elements during the lifecycle of your business, updating and refreshing your materials as necessary, while still backing them with a solid logo and brand identity base.

- Adding to the consistency of your marketing materials: When you use your Visual Vocabulary across all of your marketing materials, the repeated elements add to your visual consistency.

- Making your business’s materials stand out from the competition: Your Visual Vocabulary can add a lot of personality to your materials, differentiating them from your competition’s marketing pieces. It can also add visual information to your materials, to help tell your business’s story.

- Making a small business look larger: By expanding your brand design with more surrounding graphics, you’ll expand your designs and make your small business look like a bigger business.

A Visual Vocabulary provides a powerful key to your target market, helping it to better understand your business: what you offer and how you work. It also contributes to your business’s memorability.

Book a Las Vegas Golf Vacation

If you live in the United States and find yourself working long hours with little time to splurge on yourself, you are not alone. On average, Americans work more days and more hours per day than in many countries in the world. So, when it is time to kick back and get away from it all, booking a Las Vegas golf vacation makes plenty of sense. You can experience a unique mix of golf and gambling, putting and puttering, birdies and banquets.

With a wide variety of Las Vegas vacation packages available, you have a number of options to choose from among the best of Las Vegas golf courses. You can mix and match the hotel of your choice with tee times and reservations at a number of area golf courses. Here are a few courses by famous designers and golf professionals to explore during your Vegas vacation.

Do you remember the King of Golf? Arnold Palmer? Arnie designed Angel Park, a Spanish-style club which is home to two 18-hole designs, the Mountain Course and the Palm Course - as well as the par-3 Angel Parkas and putting course. The Angel Park golf course is rated as one of the best venues in the Nevada golf scene. In 2002, Angel Park won several VegasGolfer 2002 awards, including Best Value, Best 19th Hole and Best Youth Program.

At Red Rock Country Club, the Arroyo Course is Arnold Palmer’s newest of Las Vegas golf courses. The desert has been transformed by palms, waterfalls and emerald green fairways. Each hole invites you to compete and build camaraderie as you experience panoramic views of the city and towering mountains. This course is the only one at Red Rock Country Club open to public play. The course stretches to 6,857 yards and plays to a par 72. The Arroyo contains challenging bunkers, tricky dramatic water hazards and a lush green fairways and greens that involve every golfer in a battle of attention and wits.

How about Arnie’s chief competitor, Jack Nicklaus? The Golden Bear has been building in Las Vegas as well. Jack Nicklaus reviewed all of the golf courses he has built around the world and selected 18 of the finest holes from those courses. He took their individual golf hole design to Las Vegas and included each one in Bear’s Best Golf Club. The course opened in 2001. From the golf courses ranging from Montana to Arizona, Nicklaus hand-picked these golf holes. His Golden Bear signature makes each hole a golfing event to remember.

Is gambling allowed on a Las Vegas golf vacation? One might think so. Arthur Hills built the Legacy Golf Club in 1989. On the 10th tee, Hills built four tee boxes on the par 3 10th hole. One is shaped as a heart, spade, club and diamond, in case golfers forgot just what territory they played in.

A Las Vegas golf trip would not be complete without a round played at the Rio Secco, which is owned and operated by the Rio Hotel and Casino. The course is located about 15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The course is carved into the natural desert terrain and plays fast and firm. At par-72, 7,332-yard course, every club in your bag will get a workout. Tiger Woods scored the course record with an eight-under-part 64. The greens are slick with deep valleys, so if stay below the hole unless you want a three or four putt. This is the course to play if you love scenery. Six holes of the course’s 18 holes are located on top of on plateaus with breathtaking views of the city, six holes lie in a broad desert wash and six holes lead through steep canyons.

Make sure to research the many other Las Vegas golf courses that can make your Vegas golf vacation a pleasure. Make sure to do your research so that you can make the most of your golf vacation.

Until Then? What About The Power Of Now

All of us have dreams. All of us have wants and desires and things and vision of our life that we want it to be like. There are places we want to go and stuff we want to accomplish. You probably even find yourself talking about what it will be like when. Or what you will do after you have this or accomplish that. It is a powerful thing to have goals and dreams and visions, however, there is one major flaw in the way that most people talk about their dreams and their goals. This problem is simple in context, yet takes alot of effort to fix. It can be done, and I know you have it in you to do what needs to be done to make it happen.

The problem with the way that most people relate to their dreams and goals and the way that they speak about their goals and dreams is that they keep it in the future. If you listen to people, they often speak about what they are going to accomplish or do or have in a few weeks, or months, or years. The problem with this way of thinking and speaking is that you are telling the universe that you want it in the future. It is great to have these dreams, however, you must learn to speak about your goals and your dreams as though they are already a part of your life. You must bring these goals and dreams into the present, or chances are good that they will always be in the future.

What I am talking about here is learning to replace future tense words with present tense words and thoughts. Instead of thinking about what it will be like when you get that money, or when you get that job, or when you get whatever, learn to think about it as though you already have it. See yourself doing those things, or having those things you want right here and right now. Learn to feel the feelings of what it is like to be in that situation, and feel it as though you already possess those things. Learn to speak about yourself in the present tense as having those things right now, and feel the feelings and think the thoughts of it already being in your possession right this second.

I understand that some things are in the future and it isn’t always easy to speak as though they are already yours. Maybe you have a vacation in a couple of months set on the calendar and you are going. That’s great, however, you still need to train yourself to speak about things in the present tense. People will often say I want to get this or that in a few months. Instead, they could use the statement of I am so happy about this thing or that thing that is mine. Or I see myself sitting on the back of my yacht. The key here is to really feel the feelings of having it right this second. Speak as though you have it sitting at home in your garage or on your porch or wherever. Create the reality in your mind first, and the universe will trip over itself to give you what you want. But if your reality states that what you want is days away or weeks away, it will always stay days away or weeks away. Bring it into the present in your mind, and time will warp itself to your every wish. The universe is at your command, simply tell it what to do, and start with what you feel and what you say.
