In time, isolation can lead to emotional problems, such as frustration or anxiety. However, these feelings can be easily overcome if work at home business owners make a concentrated effort to allow themselves to sit back and relax from time to time. It is fundamental for one’s emotional health to socialize with other persons outside their families. Just as you took a lunch break during in your traditional employee days, you need to take breaks from your home working activities. Even if you feel hyped up and ready to work 24/7, push yourself to take those breaks. Allow yourself time to spend with your family and plan a vacation at least once a year.

It will be even better for your home business if you can interact with some of your former co-workers. Staying in touch with them simply makes good business sense, given the fact that they can refer you to potential customers. Don’t just make a few phone calls, but arrange for a lunch or a night out every now and then. It is a great way of expanding your business and of letting people know about your products or services.

Don’t fall for believing that the Internet is the only means of promoting your work at home business. Advertising is just as efficient, and sometimes even more so, by word of mouth. Announce your neighbors, friends and relatives what you are doing every day. Let both the online and the offline world find out about your home business.

You may miss a lot of opportunities if you lock yourself inside your own ivory tower. Instead, try to show people around you the benefits of having your own home business. You never know when some of the current workers decide to follow your example and ask you to guide them toward the exit from the “rat race”. Remember that you need to be seen by the outside world in order to run a successful home business.
