Supermodel - the Cool, Thin Blackberry 8800 is Here

What business traveler wouldn’t be interested in a mobile phone that has a full QWERTY(i) keyboard and trackball for Internet and email access, built-in location system to keep you on track for your destination and help you to not get lost, and space to put a memory card to save images, video, and data to? For any business travelers who don’t already have one or have an older BlackBerry they would like to update, the BlackBerry(R) 8800 is here.

Research in Motion, an Ontario-based mobile communications wireless product designer and manufacturer, has developed their thinnest blackberry to date. Powered by a thin, high-capacity battery, the BlackBerry 8800 started being offered in the United States on February 21st by AT&T, with a 2 year contract commitment and $50 rebate for $300. The phone is priced at $500. RIM also said it plans to offer the phone through overseas carriers and other North American carriers.

Features Just imagine you are meeting a couple friends somewhere and they are not sure how to get there. Use your new BlackBerry 8800 to send your friends a map of where to go. The BlackBerry 8800 uses the built-in GPS system to pinpoint location and track the route to the destination you want to go. It works with other location services including BlackBerry Maps, where users can send maps via email from their BlackBerry 8800. So, what else can this BlackBerry do?

  • Has many other useful features including noise cancellation, conference calling, speed dialing, smart dialing, call forwarding, ring tones, and Speaker Independent Voice Recognition for Voice Activated Dialing (VAD).
  • Can be used with hands-free headsets and car kits. Comes with a USB cable, travel charger, and headset.
  • Supports the BlackBerry Internet service, where users can manage 10 personal and business email accounts.
  • Accepts software that supports all types of industries such as healthcare and real estate as well as specific functions like sales force automation or supply chain management.

BlackBerry handsets are designed as email phones for business users and have become popular since they were first introduced in 1999. Many business managers and executives use them to access email while out of the office. BlackBerry handsets support wireless information services including phone, email, text messaging, Internet, and various PDA applications such as address book, to-do lists, and calendar. RIM has about 6.2 million subscribers to the BlackBerry service.

Later this year, watch out for its younger sibling, the BlackBerry 8820, to be launched. Other than being enabled with WiFi, the newer model won’t be too different from the 8800.

What Men Should Look For When Buying A Watch?

There are essentially 5 important things to look for when purchasing a quality wristwatch in a brick and mortar store or online.

1-Image - Does the watch you are about to purchase reflect your personality, your style? Your watch should combine with your true character, not try to show someone you are not. Don’t try to elevate yourself by buying a premium, luxury watch, heavy and invasive; thinking it will make you look better, if it does not suit you, the opposite effect will happen. Make sure that if you buy an expensive watch it is for the design and quality. My personality being discreet and classic, I like a slim, elegant design, round dial watch with a leather band. I tried once a heavier Rolex type steel bracelet watch, I felt like everybody was looking at me.

2-Designation

What does Swiss Made means? “Swiss made” constitutes a concept of quality. It includes the technical quality of watches; accuracy, reliability, water-resistance, shock-resistance and its aesthetic quality: elegance, originality, design. It covers both traditional manufacturing and new technologies. Only when it is Swiss, may a watch carry the indications “Swiss made” or “Swiss” on the outside. A watch is considered to be Swiss if: a-Its movement is Swiss b-Its movement is cased up in Switzerland c-The manufacturer carries out the final inspection in Switzerland.

What is the difference between a Chronograph and a Chronometer? Chronometer defines an other concept of quality; it is given to automatic and mechanical movement watches (not quartz movement) that have the highest standard of precision. A watch carrying the chronometer certification has passed 15 days rigorous testing (under different conditions) demanded by the Swiss Official Chronometer Control (COSC). It carries a premium price over non-chronometer watches.

A chronograph is simply a watch with stopwatch capabilities. It has two independent time systems: one indicates the time of day, and the other measures brief intervals of time. Counters registering seconds, minutes and even hours can be started and stopped as desired.

Scratch resistance The glass or crystal is made to protect the dial. Acrylic crystal is inexpensive, a plastic that does not prevent scratches. Mineral crystal is a glass, it is eight times harder than acrylic crystal. Sapphire crystal is the best and most expensive crystal and is three times harder than mineral crystal.

Waterproof versus Water resistant? A watch is never water proof, it is water resistant or made to prevent water from entering. A quality watch should indicate how much water it can withstand and still works. A good watch will offer resistance from 50m. Beyond that you are surely a professional diver and will need a specialist watch with depth indicator and other technicalities. If you are not, avoid taking your watch into salty water or chlorine, if you must, make sure you rinse it with warm water afterwards.

3-Mechanical, quartz, Automatic Movements

Automatic mechanical watches are the most desirable in terms or practicality and functionality. A mechanical watch uses the energy from a wound spring and keeps time through the highly regulated release of that energy through a set of gears call the wheel train and escapement. Automatic watches, self-winding watch or perpetual (Rolex) are mechanical watches with a balance wheel and escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the motion of the wearer’s arm, instead of having to be wound manually every day. It needs no battery. The name comes from the fact that, instead of the owner having to wind the watch to power, the watch winds itself automatically when worn regularly. Quartz watches work with a series of electronic components, all fitting together in a tiny space. Rather than a wound spring, a quartz watch relies on a battery for its energy. Automatic quartz is a combination of a watch movement that combine a self-winding rotor mechanism as used in automatic mechanical watches to generate electricity with a piezoelectric quartz crystal as its timing element. It provides the advantages of quartz and mechanical watches.

4-Price against value

Can the status and prestige of the watch you are planning to buy justify its price? Up to you to decide if the price reflects the overall quality, technology, mechanism (Automatic, Quartz,), designation (Swiss-Made, Chronometer,) design, history behind the watch or just the hype behind the brand. I would differentiate between pure watch brands and fashion houses diversifying into watches. Both offer excellent products.

5-Care and Guarantee

Choose a watch which is easy to care for. A quality watch does not dispense you from caring for it and cleaning it regularly. Wash your watch in warm soapy water occasionally. Have your watch serviced every three years. Store your watch in a soft cloth. Avoid extreme temperatures.

Guarantee. Choose a watch with at least 2 years of International manufacturer warrantee from the date of purchase. It should cover against failure due to defective materials or workmanship, damages caused by water entry into the case, providing the glass, crown, and case back are intact.

Most importantly, take your time, try, compare and investigate. Find quality watches at carametis.com/acatalog/designer-mens-watches.html

Catch the Time!

Have you ever run around all day? Not getting anything really done. You have been busy all
day doing things. However by the end of the day you are exhausted? You don’t remember what
you did that was even productive. The days get busier with stuff and you feel like you will
never get caught up. At the end of the day you put your head on your pillow at night. Then
you start all over again the next day. Does your day lead you or you lead your day?

Have you ever known someone that is overwhelmed in life? Do you know someone that goes and
goes? They never take a break. Have you known someone that never laughs? How about complains
of a headache all the time?

There is a way to break though the catch up game of time. Here are three ways to catch up.

1. Shake the time up. Get up an hour earlier or stay up an hour later. It feels great to
have one hour to yourself in the morning without any interruptions. More and more people in
this generation are staying up later. The media runs late night talk shows because of it.

2. Do your work somewhere else than in your office. Do your work under a tree or by a pool
depending on your weather. You can work in a library or a coffee shop. Being in or by
nature, opens your mind. It gives you more ways to look at things in a different way. You
can do this with some of your tasks. You will be more productive than you can imagine.

3. Decrease your unproductive activities. Over three- fourths of your activities only give you about
one-fourth of your results during the day. The key to success is to realize what part of
your day is producing results that you desire. If those results are what you want, do it
again. If not, change your activities. It matters whether you are a stay at home mom
or a business developer. Find out what part of your day is productive or unproductive. It
can break you or save you.

So what does your day look like? Is it a rush like a roller coaster? Are you tired at the
end of the day? If you answered yes to one of these questions, it it time to shake up your
day Breakthrough your day like you own it.

Pick Direct Mail Marketing Lists that are Added to Often, Not Just Updated Often

The success of your next lead generation mailing
might depend on one simple question. Before you
rent a list of potential customers, ask the list broker
this straightforward question: “How often are the
names on this list added to?”

Don’t simply ask how often the list is updated. The list
might have been updated yesterday but might not
contain any more names than it did eight years
ago.

An update to a list might be nothing more than making
sure the names and addresses are accurate, or that
each record has a phone number. But that’s not as
important to you as a fresh list.

Where direct mail lists are concerned, you obviously
want accuracy. You don’t want to mail to people who
have moved. You don’t want to mail the same piece of
mail to the same person twice because the person is
in your database twice.

But an updated list is not the same as a list that has
been added to. So make sure you ask your list broker
how often the list in question has new names added
to it.

An updated list is clean. But a list with new names is
fresh. You want a list that is both clean and fresh. You
want a list that has plenty of new names on it.

Ideally, you want a list that is updated often and added
to often. That way, your direct mail offer reaches the
most prospects, since less of your mail will be
returned to you as undeliverable. And your package
reaches more potential buyers, because more people
on the list will be receiving your offer for the first time
(assuming you have mailed to the same list
before).

When Should You Get Your Life Protected With Insurance?

There comes a point in everyone’s life when they start thinking that they should get protected and take out some life insurance. We all know the old music hall jokes about insuring your husband or wife just so that you can collect the insurance, but it does pay to be insured.

Compare Life Insurance Rates Online Life insurance can mean different things to different companies. For some, it should perhaps read death insurance because all that your relatives are going to get are the funeral costs and maybe a lump sum. This is why it makes sense to go visit an independent broker or have a good look online so that you can compare insurance prices and policies. Some life insurance might look cheap when you start out but if the percentage rate goes up every year, you could find yourself paying out more money or getting back less than you thought. Life insurance policies have different premium rates. The premium is the amount you pay every month or every year. If you decide to stop paying your premiums, there is no guarantee that you will ever get any of your money back. These are sometimes called lapsed policies; people might think that they’re insured but if they haven’t kept up regular payments, there could be nothing at the end of it.

Life insurance should be about life, not just death. Some policies have built-in protection if you have an accident or if you are off work for any length of time through no fault of your own. Other policies will pay you some money if you have to spend time in hospital. This means that when you compare life insurance, don’t compare on price alone. Make it your business to find out exactly what your policy offers and how much it is going to cost.

If you have a family, you might want to take out life insurance that pays your funeral costs and enough money to your family to ensure that they can still have some sort of decent living standard if something happens to you.

When Should You Get Protected? There is a tendency when you’re young to think that you will live forever and that life insurance is for old people. But what will happen if you are suddenly taken ill and unable to work? You might be able to survive on sickness benefit but you wouldn’t have a very good standard of living. Under these circumstances, the right sort of insurance could make all the difference. Just be sure to do a comparison before you buy.

Secured Loans and Payment Protection

One thing which is quite important to many people when taking out a secured loan is whether or not they have payment protection. Now generally loans of up to £25,000 are automatically covered by the Consumer Credit Act 1974 which is fairly strict about lending and who creditors can lend to. If you plan to get a loan of over £25,000 however, you will not be covered. So what are your options if you are getting a fairly large loan amount?

Payment Protection for Over £25,000

If you are planning on borrowing over £25,000 there is still a payment protection option available to you. However, many people do not usually take these out as they see them as being too expensive. There is always the thought of “What if I don’t need it and I am paying out all of this extra money?” Well, if you think like that one thing to keep in mind is that yes you might be paying extra money, but then you are secure in case anything does happen.

If you miss your payments on a secured loan for whatever reason your home can be repossessed. That way you would end up homeless and there would be nothing that you can do about it. However, if you have payment protection, depending upon the company you lend from, it will often cover things such as unemployment as well as other things which may go wrong. Life is full of surprises and anything can happen so it is always better to be safe than sorry. Also, often the extra expense for the payment protection is often added onto the loan so that you don’t really notice the extra money.

As with most things, it is always better to shop around and find the best payment protection plan to suit you. Every single plan will be different so take the time to look around at various companies and see which offer the best policies. Compare at least five different plans to get the best idea of what is available and make sure that the plan that you eventually choose is the right one for you. Ensure that it covers everything that you will need and never agree to anything before knowing what you are letting yourself in for. Secured loans are serious and so you need to be sensible with the payment protection.

Overall shop around and don’t be too quick to turn down the payment protection. You never know what might happen so it is better to take out a policy just in case.

Good Time to Apply for Pharmaceutical Rep Jobs?

I was asked the other day an interesting question regarding whether it is presently a good time to apply for pharmaceutical rep jobs. Has the industry reached a peak? Is it in a slump or in between? Well, the answer is it depends on the company. Each pharmaceutical company goes through cycles where there seems to be growth in sales force numbers at times and then there are low periods where hiring freezes and even layoffs could occur. These depend largely on what’s happening to the pharmaceutical company’s product lines.

Many companies have been caught without new products for the market when suddenly some of their original blockbuster drugs got genericized or pulled from the market due to other factors. The drug Vioxx from Merck is such an example. With nothing else new to promote, sales forces can be cut back. During launches of new drugs, it is the opposite with huge sales force expansions with many new positions to fill.

My stance on this is that if one wants to get into the industry, it is important to get your name and face known to inside people such as pharmaceutical sales managers, especially well ahead of any hiring campaigns. This helps put you up front compared to the rest of the crowd and makes you a known entity before your competition. Sales managers would always prefer to hire known candidates with excellent skills and potential. If they already know you through previous meetings and referrals from others in the industry, your chances of getting hired during any sales force expansion will be much greater than if you just applied as an unknown at the time of pharmaceutical rep job postings.

So basically anytime is a good time to at least network with important contacts in the pharmaceutical industry whether companies are going through growth or slumps with their sales forces. I know that when I was a sales manager, I always liked meeting any good potential candidates no matter what part of the cycle my company was in. You might not get a job right away but at least you will get your name out there in front of the people who can help you break into the industry. I always kept the high potential people on file and when it came time to fill positions, they were always the first individuals to call.

I wrote “How To Get A Dream Job In Pharmaceutical Sales - Direct Inside Advice and Guidance from a Sales Manager” to help outsiders break into the industry. One of the most important chapters in the book is how and who to network with in the pharmaceutical industry so that you put yourself out in front of the right people. These are the people who can help you get your first pharmaceutical rep job.

The Government to Allow Easy Access to Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA)

The Government has made it clear that it soon hopes to allow easier access to Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA), today’s number one and fastest growing alternative to insolvency. This plan for an easier to obtain IVA should be in effect within the year according to the latest reports.

The changes hope to make a law that requires only 51% of the lenders who are owed debt to give approval for an IVA. Currently, 75% of the lenders for one’s debts must approve for an IVA. This 51% rate would only apply on debts below £75,000. This new plan would also make it quicker to file an application for an IVA and involve less paperwork.

In an IVA, the lenders erase part of the money owed and the creditors must make a fixed agreeable monthly payment every month for a given time.

Charles Howson, the chief executive of Accuma, a personal insolvency specialist, said: ‘The existing laws are outdated and don’t apply to the vast majority of people applying for an IVA today. These rule changes would simplify the process and make taking out an IVA more viable for people in debt.’

There were over 47,000 bankruptcies this year and the easier process for filing an IVA is an attempt to help reduce this number.

Around 20,000 people filed for IVAs this year and it is expected that a total of 30,000 will file for an IVA this year.

One of the main benefits is that creditors cannot get your home while you are on an IVA.
