Selling On eBay - eBay Power Seller Stealth Secrets Revealed (Part1)

This is something completely different. I’m going to show you how I have
made over $20,000 in the last few months doing roughly 2 hours of work a
day. Using the methods that I’m about to show you will not make you
“Rich” but will give you a very nice income that you could live an above
average income with. Now, if you were to put more time in than 2 hours a
day you could make an unbelievable income.

I’m going to give you an example of how it works (You probably already
know this, but bear with me. I’m telling you this for a reason). Let’s say
that I sell a scuba wetsuit out of my brick and mortar store. Because I am in
the scuba business I can buy scuba products at wholesale prices. I buy the
wetsuit for $110 and sell it for $199.

Seems like pretty good profit but let’s take some things into consideration. It costs me A LOT more to sell that wetsuit than what you think. Yeah, I only bought it for $110 but I have employee costs, insurance costs, electric bill, light bill, phone bill, and MANY other costs that I’m not going to list. Most of my profit is going right back into business.

On top of that I consume all of my time making
sure things are going right at the business, checking up on employees, etc. All together this is very time consuming for very low profit margin. Now, let me show you what I accidentally fell into that allowed me to make some serious cash with very little effort.

As you already know… I’m a scuba diver. One night I had a piece of scuba
equipment that was with some other miscellaneous stuff I bought for a
couple bucks that I wanted to get rid. I slapped it up on ebay to make $5 or
$10 bucks. By default Ebay’s auctions are 7 days.

So I really didn’t pay attention and actually forgot that I had put the auction up there. About 10
days later I remembered and got online to check it. To my amazement the piece of scuba equipment that I put up there sold for over $300. Now, considering that I only paid about $10 for that piece of equipment that calculates to over $290 profit. I was totally amazed. I had about 10 minutes tied up in putting that item online and then my wife spent about 10 minutes packing it up to ship. Just like that, $290 in my pocket for almost nothing.

One thing people don’t realize is that when an item is on Ebay MILLIONS of people can see your item. These millions of people are A LOT more traffic than I had coming into my actual scuba shop. To have this auction put on ebay costed me less than 60 cents compared to my monthly lease payment on my real store.

Instantly it hit me that I somehow should be able to replicate this. I thought I had the answer on how right away but I was wrong. I was already in a good position because I could buy scuba equipment wholesale from my manufacturers because I was a dealer. So I went bought a couple items at
wholesale cost and put on ebay THINKING I could make that kind of money again. Boy was I wrong. The auctions ended at the same price that I bought the stuff wholesale for and I actually lost money.

What I quickly realized is that on Ebay bidders don’t expect to pay full retail price for something. If they did, why wouldn’t they just go buy it at a local store and save shipping costs? I was stuck. I knew that I could find a way to replicate what I did the first time. Then I realized something.

That piece of scuba equipment that I got for a couple bucks and made so much money on wasn’t new. It was a used piece of equipment that someone else didn’t want. They were tired of it laying around so they basically got rid of it for nothing. Where else can you run across stuff that people don’t
want anymore? How about local classified newspapers?

In my area we have a paper called “The Trader’s Guide”. This is like a newspaper full of classified ads that people are looking to get rid of stuff they don’t’ want. Now…. Being that I have been a scuba diver for over 10 years I have gotten to know the sport and the equipment very well. So I could look at these classifieds ads.

Fortunately I know the scuba equipment so well that I can instantly look at
the classified ads and know what something is worth. I looked for the ones
that seemed to be a great deal then emailed or called the individual selling it.
There are two kinds of people that place ads.

The first kind are the ones that are trying to get back out of it what they bought it for. Those are the ones that I don’t want. The second kind are the ones that just want to “get rid” of stuff. These are the ones that I want to look for. I was able to tell right away. There are a lot of ads out there that people have something that is worth over a $1,000 but they want to get rid of it so they sell if for $300.

These are the ones that I wanted because I knew that I could put them on Ebay and make hundreds of dollars on it. I would simply send them a money order or Paypal them for the items in the ad and then they would send it to me. I usually paid a couple extra dollars when I paid to cover shipping costs. Most people will ship to you as long as you pay for it.

Paying for shipping doesn’t really ad up to much when you plan on making more than
enough profit on the item when you sell it.
