What is $20 for shipping when you are going to profit a couple hundred bucks on something…. Right?
I used this process and obtained a lot of scuba gear for almost nothing and then put it on ebay and sold it. Believe it or not, I was pretty good as guessing what it would sell for on Ebay because I already knew what it was worth. Over the next month I had made a ton of money using this process.
Every day I had taken about an hour to look through a few local papers to see what kinds of deals that I could find so that I could turn around and sell it.

One thing I was always good at was bringing the price down. I emailed or called every ad that I was interested in and offered less than what they were asking for the product. I can honestly say that more than half of the people came down in price. Sometimes you can make a low offer and they accept it just to make a couple bucks. Sometimes people look at it like “some money is better than no money” and they get rid of it pretty cheap. I saved hundreds of dollars by doing this.

I ran into a problem though. I live in a very small area which means small newspapers. Scuba is a unique sport. I was running out of ads in papers. I had already bought up all of the ones that were good deals. Now I didn’t know where to find others. I then realized that I was only buying from local
sources. I knew that there were a ton of newspapers around the US with classifieds ads in them. What was I going to do? Subscribing to every newspaper in the US to see the classifieds was simply unimaginable. So I turned to the internet.

Below is the hard part that I have already done for you. For the next 2 weeks I became best friends with my computer and surfed the internet for newspaper classifieds ads. I found something that I never knew existed before. There are actually online websites that database newspaper ads and websites that allow you to post classified ads to.

To me, this was priceless! I could do a search for the word “scuba” and it returned hundreds of results. Every day I would go back and there would be even more new results. Now instead of only having the local newspapers and traders guides, I now had access to see classifieds ads all across the US.

The largest classifieds site I found. Rumor has it they are partly owned by Ebay.

DCLASSIFIEDS.COM

My second favorite site. It databases TONS of classifieds both from online ads and newspapers.

BARGAINTRADER.COM

Also a good site. It is very popular.
