Iraq - A Son’s Revenge

Oedipus President

“The Iraqi people are looking at America and are saying

are we going to cut and run again? We’re not going to cut

and run if I’m in the Oval Office. We will do our job,”

President George W. Bush Jr.

Although George. W. Bush’s statement was meant to show America’s resolve to stay the course in Iraq, it also showed something else - an extraordinary insight into a son’s oedipal struggle to prove his father wrong.

George Jr.’s statement, “are we going to cut and run again? We’re not going to cut and run if I’m in the Oval Office.” was a direct slap at his father, former President George Bush, Sr.; because, if George Jr. is to be believed, Bush Sr. cut and ran in Iraq when he was President one decade before.

It was previously thought that George Jr.’s invasion of Iraq was motivated, in part, to avenge a failed assassination attempt on his father by Saddam’s secret police. It now appears George Jr.’s motive may be far different and much less benign.

It is said Bush Sr. favored George Jr.’s younger brother, Jeb, and hoped that Jeb, not George Jr., would follow in his political footsteps. If so, George Jr. has decided to make his father pay for his misplaced favoritism.

Peter and Rochelle Schweizer wrote in their book, “The Bushes, Portrait of a Dynasty”, that in 1994 when Jeb lost the governor’s race in Florida and George Jr. won in Texas, George Jr. talked to his father on the phone and afterward complained: ”It sounds like Dad’s only heard that Jeb lost. Not that I’ve won.’’

But George Jr., a willful man, is not one to be so easily denied his father’s love. Not only did he become the son that would become, as his father, President of the United States, he decided also he would be a better President.

Some believed George Sr. had made a fatal mistake by not removing Saddam from power when he had the chance. So, when George Jr. became President, he surrounded himself with the very men– Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz - who believed his father had erred.

George Jr., as President, would not make the mistake his father made. Instead, like the son he is, he made the mistake his father consciously chose not to make. George Jr. instead unleashed the ungodly forces of Muslim fundamentalism that his father’s advisers adamantly counseled George Sr. to keep contained by not removing Saddam from power.

It now appears George Sr. and his advisers may have been right and Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz wrong when George Sr. chose to let Saddam stay in power. This is not to say that George Sr. did not make any mistakes. In retrospect, I think we all wish George Sr. had hugged George Jr. a lot more when he was a child.

Unfortunately,George Junior’s reaction to his father’s favoritism was not to be confined to foreign policy. Bush Junior’s profligate spending flies in the face of his father’s principles. Unfortunately, all of us, including our children and our childrens’ children, will pay the price.

A day of economic reckoning set in motion by George Bush Jr. is about to descend on us; and if you are to survive the crisis, you had better be prepared.

Debt Management Loans – Reduce Debt Burden Smoothly

You must make extra efforts towards ensuring that you get rid of debts as early as possible for avoiding any crises. Surely you must have a convincing debt management plan in place. Also you should be taking a loan for paying off the debts. This boils down to opting for debt management loans. One can say that debt management loans are best suited for managing debts so that the burden is not felt much.

Obviously for taking debt management loans you should be having a debt management plan. You can make debt management plan on your own or you can take help of some expert who will asses your debts. There are companies who offer services for debt management and negotiate with your creditors for reducing interest rate on debts or reducing amount of debts. Then the debt management company will suggest you to take a loan of certain amount for clearing debts. So this way debt management loans are more beneficial to take.

The main motive behind availing debt management loans usually is that the borrower wants to reduce monthly outgo towards the loan installments. Under debt management loans all your debts are merged into single reduced monthly payment for the loan installments. So this way you not only get rid of higher interest rate debts through debt management loan but at the same time you can easily pay off the new loan.

Usually debt management loans come at lower interest rates as compared to the rate on debts. So all your high rate debts are now replaced by debt management loan. Thus you save lot of money that was to go waste on paying high interest.

People with bad credit also are eligible for debt management loans. All borrowers having late payments, arrears, payment defaults or county court judgments can avail debt management loans. Such people are required to show that they now have adequate capacity to repay the loan installments in time and the loan is usually approved at comparatively lower interest rate. Make sure to compare different lenders for a better deal on the loan.

Road Rage

Driving in the 21st century has changed dramatically compared to years before. Every year the amount of cars and trucks on the road increases by leaps and bounds. With the increase in new drivers come more accidents, more traffic, and finally more road rage.

It is almost a certainty that these things will continue to increase in the future, although we cannot stop it, we can however take certain measures to be well prepared. Traffic in the highways and streets have caused many to become violet and aggressive as they drive, otherwise known as road rage. Road rage can be seen in many different forms, here are some you should watch out for:

• Cutting your car off
• Rude hand gestures
• Profanity
• Bumping your car
• Hitting your window
• Pursuing you home
• Physical abuse

If you are an everyday driver it is not uncommon to witness any of these actions. In the event that you find yourself in the situation where someone is harassing you, either with their car or verbally, you should try your best to stay as far away as possible. Do not try to challenge them or fight back because you never know if they may have a weapon or might try to cause you harm. It is smart to take down their license plate number as well as the make and model of their vehicle and report it to the police. If they try to follow you do not drive home! Instead, drive to the nearest police station of fire station.

Changing Thinking Can Change Your Home Internet Business

We cannot live without thinking our home internet business but we can decide what and how we think about it. Thoughts are like seeds and the results come from the seeds. Concerning your home internet business: negative seeds – bad results, positive seeds – good results.

Thinking the ”home internet business”, it is impossible to get good results by thinking negatively and it is impossible not to get good home internet business results by thinking positively. Thinking your home internet business is a process, you are constantly in a state of becoming. Your home internet business becomes, what you think.

This strategy doesn’t mean that your home internet business will be without problems. It means that you can meet any home internet business problem with confidence, because your own belief is above your home internet business problems, it`s a headline or an attitude. And the belief is not so sensitive towards the daily worries of your home internet business. It is much, much stronger.

First you can take your imagination into use and form an ”image” or an ”idea” of what you’ll need for your home internet business. It will be your major tool to work out the working images for your sub-conscious about your internet home business. The sub-conscious doesn’t make any difference between the ”true things” and ”images”. It will take both as seriously.

Now build a ”movie” about the process of a successful internet home internet business and how you have reached your results. It’s very, very important to keep the end-result in your mind as if you had already reached it. In your home internet business movie you can see yourself as a winner standing with the first prize in your hands. When it`s ready, watch it again, again and again and get excited.

Ok, now you have built a tool to get the right spirit for your home internet business.
When you`ll see the end result of your home internet business in advance, you’ll strongly believe as if it is already accomplished.

This is also an excellent method in order to select a home internet business promotion strategy, which will fit for you, because you`ll select it by your feelings. Then the home internet business is 100 % true and good for you. Just trust your feelings.I argue that the mental training, using feelings, is the most important part of your home internet business marketing. It`s the engine, the motivator.

Your belief or attitude towards your home internet business will keep you on the right mood and then, well, only the sky is the limit.

How to Prepare for Tax Day

Being prepared for tax day can be very time consuming and complicated. Trying to keep one step ahead as you go along can and will help you get prepared a lot faster and easier.

Talk to your tax preparer to find out what and how you can help them at the end of the year. For instance using your PC or just paper jot down all the things you can use as a deduction on your property. Using land expenses, home improvements, landscaping, building repairs, taxes, as well as utilities, insurance, and many other things can all be tax deductible. Interest rates on your mortgage can be used as a tax dedication too.

You will also have to claim income made from the property. Income that you might get from selling your crops or for the sale of the property by making a profit all need to be claimed. These all have to be claimed as an income at the end of the year.

Be prepared for the big day of the year takes a lot of time and effort if you have to do it all at once. Going back 12 months trying to remember what you spent and made and than finding all the receipts for back up can be a hard task. You can make life easier on yourself and the tax preparer by keeping your records as you go through the year.

Get yourself a fireproof box to hold important papers through the year. Once you have a list of items that you can use for deductions keep the receipts and sort them out into groups. Start a spreadsheet having it in order by month is a great way to be prepared for that dreadful day.

At the end of each month take an hour or so give or take and sort out everything in groups such as utilities, taxes, improvements or what ever you paid out during the month. Recording this information total for each group and clipping them together may take an hour each month.

Making a spreadsheet once a month might use up one hour at a time is a total of 12 hours. If you wait until the end of the year, it could take two or three weeks to gather up all the information. Using a spreadsheet can save you and your tax preparer will thank you for all your effort in saving them time as well.

Taking a little time out to talk to your tax preparer finding out what exactly you can do and need to have at the end of the year might even save you money. Some tax preparer charge according to how much time it take to prepare your taxes and some may charge one fee. Save you both many headaches and time by being prepared at the end of the year.

Right Or Wrong Is A Matter Of Perception

What is right and what is wrong, very often turns out to be a subjective judgment. It is not a case of being just black or white, there is a very large grey area between the black and white.

In an earlier lifetime it seems, I was an Exercise Physiologist. I owned and operated my own adult health and fitness centers, and I was involved for many years in Cardiac Rehabilitation programs and cancer support programs.

I certainly have the background knowledge and experience to know the importance of a regular exercise regime. So, why has it been personally difficult for me to exercise at levels I know would be optimal for my own health and well being?

I could go to a gym, but that would seem like ‘work’ to me. I have spent years showing participants how to lift weights and use exercise equipment appropriately. When I had dogs, a daily brisk walk was a part of their health program and mine. But, I only tend to walk now if I am at the beach or in the middle of a rain Forest, or if I have someone to walk with.

I used to always advise clients and participants in my Cardiac Rehabilitation programs that they should find a regular physical activity that they find enjoyable, otherwise they will find it difficult to stick with it in the longer term.

Well, I am pleased to report that I am now following my own advise. Dancing has become one of my passions. Latin, Jive, Swing, Ballroom …, it doesn’t matter, I love it all. For the best part of the last couple of years, I have made a point of going to classes and social dances at least three times each week. I have even had a weekly private lesson for the last year or so.

What has all this to do with the topic, “Doing wrong for the right reasons is still wrong”?

I shall explain.

In the district where I live, there are many dance venues. But, I have a favorite. The owners/operators of this particular venue do have a web site, but it is not interactive. As well as having an Internet Domain Name and Hosting business, I do have a few skills in building and publishing web sites and blog sites. And, as these operators were “friends”, I thought I would put together a “supporters” web site and a blog site as a gift for them. Trying to help, I thought a regular blog would be a useful marketing tool for this particular venue. Getting appropriate graphics and building and publishing the sites involved around six hours work.

The web site clearly stated that it was not the official site, and had a link in the header to the dance studio’s official web site. My site was highly supportive of the dance venue and the husband and wife teaching team. It included such statements as:
“The place to learn and enjoy dancing in …”
“… and … are lovely people. They are great teachers, and they certainly have the best venue that I have come across for learning and enjoying dance.”

Now, anyone out there who would like to build and publish a web site highly praising any of my business ventures, and me as a person, is most welcome. Apart from anything else, links like that going to my sites are certainly going to help with my web site optimizing when people Google appropriate key words. Go on, go ahead, it is only about one days work for you, and the two years that I registered the Top Level Domain for cost me less than $20. That’s not very much in the scheme of things is it?

You can imagine my surprise when the female half of this teaching dance studio duo telephoned me this morning with a vicious, vitriolic attack. “How dare I interfere in her business” and the “site was crappy” and they didn’t want any feedback from a blog site because that would only cause problems.

I did try to get some words of apology in during the attack but was not really able. All I had done was to offer a tool that I thought would be helpful with their marketing. My reason for building and publishing the blog site was that it would be easier for me to explain how it operated if something concrete was in front of them. If they didn’t want it, then it would have been nice to have been told something like, “thanks for your time and effort Ian, but it is not what we want currently”. But unfortunately, the response I received was nothing like that. Either way I would have gone into my site control panel and change the DNS straight away as I did, and brought both sites crashing down.

Hey, I have a great template for a Dance Studio Web Site if any one would like it. I shall even type in the text you want for a two to three page web site at no charge. But, I am not making any payments for domain names etc. this time, you will have to do this your self. I would ask you however to purchase the domain name and the hosting account from my firm. I do offer the best value around anyway. If you type my name and the word domains in the Google search bar, most of the results on the first page should lead you to me.

I saw this heading earlier today, “doing wrong for the right reasons is still wrong”, and thought hey isn’t that appropriate?
