This comparison was based on 45 year-old single male drivers with no driving violations or convictions, driving less than 3 miles one way to work. Liability limits of $100,000 per accident, $50,000 property damage, and a $250 deductible were used.

When these vehicles are owned by families, insurance costs vary to some extent. To reduce cost of insurance, even for these vehicles, consider where you keep the vehicle, the driver, accident history of drivers in the household and the type of vehicle.

Classification codes on each vehicle have a lot to do with insurance costs. A Corvette with a classification code of 22 will cost far more to insure than an Impala with a classification code of 11. No surprise there, of course. Consider the cost of your vehicle when vilifying insurance costs. If your car is expensive due to sporty style, high performance, or design complexity, it will cost more to insure.

Luxury continues to be a commodity. You pay for what you get.

When choosing a vehicle for your family, think safety first. Vehicles with high safety ratings are also less expensive to insure.
