Climate Change Could Affect Burgundy Wine

The affects of climate change is causing concern across the world and it seems that France is no exception.

Last week, scientific experts gathered at the University of Burgundy in Dijon to discuss the effect that global warming could have on France’s wine growing regions.

One claimed that the changes would be so pronounced that by the end of the century it would be possible to grow Syrah grapes as far north as Champagne.

Yet concerns have been raised that many parts of France, including the famous Burgundy region, could get too hot to grow grapes for wine.

Burgundy celebrates its love of wine
But it looks like for this year at least, the French wine industry is as booming as ever with Burgundy locals looking forward to a number of wine related events for 2007.

Two that are set to prove particularly popular with both visitors and locals alike are the traditional Beaujolais Nouveau celebrations held in November and the Chablis Wine Festival which takes place in the same month.

The former is hugely popular in villages and towns where it brings crowds together all over from France and Europe.

For those who want more than Burgundy wine
For those looking for a trip than involves more that booze there are plenty of other events and things to do in the Burgundy region.

Dijon is famous for more than just mustard and every year thousands of visitors head to the city’s botanical gardens which were founded in 1833.

Set in the Jardin de L’Arquebuse, the gardens were created in a bid to grow, study and protect plants and flowers from the region and all over the globe.

Never Be Afraid

There are two opposing forces in this world: one is fear and the other one faith.

If you truly and deeply believe in God, there is no fear. Fear always brings bondage and it’s so easy to slip over that line because human nature tends to rely on what is seen. Even our thoughts guide us into one or the other realm.

A noise in the night can instantly let loose an army of possibilities for that noise. Our human reaction is to fear the unknown, but we Christians are not of this world. We belong to the Kingdom of Christ and His power and life in us allows us to choose faith instead of fear.

Faith that God is for us and not against us so no matter what the noise, if we believe we are under God’s protection, we are safe. Our reaction to things sometimes dictate the circumstances and if we stand in faith, we are more than conquerers.

Smith Wigglesworth says, “There is a place of perfect love for Christ in which you are always casting out all fear and you are living in the place of freedom (See IJohn 4:18). Be sure you never allow anything to make you afraid. God is for you, who can be against you (Romans 8:31)?”

Many battles are lost because of feelings. We cannot operate in life based on feelings. We must walk through life on the solid path of God’s principles. It seems with all the books and devotions, such as this email, people no longer find time to read the Word of God. They are too busy reading what others say about the Bible to let the Holy Spirit make it come alive for them.

Our age of technology is not always a good thing. It can lure us away from time in the Word and time with our Father. We are sons and daughters of God and should desire to do things that please our Father. Psalm 112 says, “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in His commands.”

“Delight thyself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 Are you delighting in Him?

Sometimes we try to make it too hard and we get nowhere with our efforts. Take one short Scripture, memorize it, place it in your mind and heart and when a situation arises use it as a sword in battle. Instead of letting your mind run wild with fear and uncontrolled thoughts, reign it in by repeating the Word in your heart. “When I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalm 56:3

How many times in Psalms did David begin with anguish and fear of his enemies only to finish up with faith and trust in God. Human nature to divine nature exemplified. The opposite of that is the story of Israel’s journey in the wilderness to the land of Canaan. Twelve spies were sent out and only two returned with the faith that they could take the giants and the land. The others returned in fear. Either one is contagious, but with 10 to 2, they lost the promise to enter in, as fear spread throughout the camp. It took 40 years for that fear to die off, so that Joshua, one of the two faithful, could lead them into the Promised Land.

Prayer:
Father, you know my frame and my mind flies away with evil if I do not control it with Your Word. I do not want to stay in the desert any longer. Help me to search the Scriptures for Your words to me that I can place in my heart that I might not sin against Thee by being fearful. You have given me faith sufficient to enter into the promises you have for me. Your Word says, “Fear Not!” and today I accept that command into my own life and with your power will choose to obey. You provide a resting place and a haven for me in the storms of life. When I forget, carry me to that place where I will find your protection from the storms.

Great Outdoor Atv Fun Should Come With Great Respect For It Too

An ATV enthusiast never runs out of places to ride – unless the trails that you’ve been to are in a bad shape because off the “abuse” it’s been put through by other ATV riders, hikers, campers and other users who do not have any sort of respect for the trails that they are in.

Being aware and respecting the environment of the use of the ATV trails or any other outdoor parks that are made available for ATV riding are very important issues. If each ATV rider makes an effort to have some respect for the nature, you can be sure that the “hotspots” for ATV riding will remain in great condition for a long time to come.

In order to keep the riding areas open, it requires a whole lot of great rapport and communication between the public land managers, privately owned land owners as well as riders, campers, hikers and just about anyone who would have access to such areas. In short, common courtesy and consideration of the interests of the other parties are necessary to ensure that everyone will be able to enjoy the area.

Check the areas first
Before you pack your things to the area that you will be riding in, it is recommended that you first learn about the area. Find out from the respective public land manager or the privately owned property owner to see if there are any special rules or regulations and most importantly, get their permission to ride there. It will be of great help to you if you could get maps of the area from them as well. Do remember to stay on the trails if they are provided – do not try to be over adventurous.

Keep the noise down
Try not to create noise pollution while you are riding – ATVs are designed to be relatively quiet and yet is able to deliver maximum performance, smooth engine torque as well as spark suppression. When you create too much noise, not only will it stress out the wildlife (if there are any), it will annoy property owners and other users to the parks or trails too.

Remember your manners
If you happen to meet other users to the same area that you are riding in, be courteous. Do not try to intimidate them with your machine. No one likes a rude and obnoxious rider, so do be polite and give way to others such as hikers on the same trail.

Follow the signs if it’s provided
If you see a sign that says “Stay Out!” while you are riding in certain areas, do what it says – stay out. There are many reasons why such signs are being put up, even though the reasons may not be obvious. Obeying trail markers and closure signs is very important – they are there to ensure that you have fun while you are riding and at the same time, you should not endanger your own life or the lives of the other users at the same area.

Don’t leave your trash behind
When you are through riding in any area, always remember to leave the place the way it was when you first arrived, or better yet, leave the place cleaner than it originally was. Bring your own plastic trash bag to keep all your garbage and do not leave the bag behind. If you are responsible for your own “trash”, you can be sure that you will be more than welcome to ride in the same area again.

It sure helps a great deal when you play your role in caring for the environment of the area that you are riding in. To share your riding experience with other ATV riders, you can do so at the forums at www.jackel.com or www.atvoutdoors.net

Do You Care What UnAttractive Women Want Online?

A common complaint I hear from men when it comes to online dating and women is;

The amount of unattractive or damaged women that want too much in a man!

They tell me how a single mother of three shouldn’t be so picky or how she should lose some weight before making demands like that.

My first thought on the situation is who cares what a woman says she wants if you aren’t attracted to her.

Yet, what I find myself asking men who say this is what causes you to even be willing to settle for a woman like this if she wasn’t asking for what she is asking for.

Most online dating sites have a search function that allows you to eliminate women with children, heavyset women, and any number of things that you do not want.

It is also important to remember that just because she says it in her profile doesn’t mean that is the reality that she lives in.

When you are doing a search online it is important that you already know what you are willing to accept and not accept in a woman.

The only two that she can usually reveal online are her weight and her children; everything else is her just talking.

If she fits into what you are willing to accept find the connection that you two have and send her an email letting her know just that.

However, if you discover that she does not fit into what you are willing to accept move on to the next profile and forget about her, because she need not exist in your mind.

In the end, all a woman’s profile can reveal is who she would like to meet, if you already know that you would not like to meet her then who cares who she wants to meet.

More importantly, remember that if you would like o meet her it is then up to you to create a reason for her to want to meet you.

Extended Memories - Charming Dinant

What can be better than a long weekend, warm weather and sunny skies for visiting some of the most charming locations in Belgium? Ofcourse, nothing more was needed for two restless souls searching for the perfect sites to visit in this minuscule country in the heart of the European continent. Plan, plan and plan ahead was the buzzword for filling up the Easter weekend. I decided to scour the web for interesting places to visit in Belgium.

Belgium is immersed in history and littered with battle grounds ranging from Napolean’s Waterloo to the World Wars. This is a ‘must-see’ country for history buffs with many heritage sites worth visiting. The monuments and remnants in Belgium entice visitors with its saga of constructions, conquests and subsequent rebuildings.

My husband and I decided to visit some of the historically significant cities in Belgium for some serious soul-searching. Little did we realize then that the stories we had learned through text books would come alive for us in these few days. We decided to visit a small town called Dinant, 65 km south of Brussels, on the banks of the River Muese on saturday. We charted our iteniary well in advance so as to maximize our time spent in Dinant.

We caught the early morning train to Dinant from Brussels. The somber Brussels landscape quickly faded into calm, scenic country-side. After winding its way through valleys, mountains and canals, the train pulled into the small railway station in Dinant. One look at the town from the railway station assured us that the place was indeed tiny.

The Citadel and the Notre Dame Cathedral are two prominent landmarks in Dinant located close to the railway station. These two monuments are located so close to each other that they look like one on top of another. The Cathedral has an onion-shaped dome that is often considered the symbol of the Dinant skyline. The structure dates from the 12th century but was oft destroyed by invaders. Inside the church, there are many religious objects including decorated candle-stands, ornate altars and iconoclastic paintings.

The Citadel is perched on top of a rocky cliff and overlooks the Cathedral. There is a steep train of 420 steps to climb to reach the fortress for those who are adventurous. For lazier creatures like us, there is a sky cable car ferrying passengers back and forth. The Citadel was mainly used to protect the city and as a storehouse for armaments. It houses war memorabilia from from the medieval times up to the world wars.

We saw a museum of armaments, dioramas depicting life during medieval times and a collapsed bunker from World War II. This bunker was damaged during the bombing and is preserved in its original form. It is hard to pass through the bunker without feeling dizzy due to the gravitational pull. After touring the Citadel, we decided to climb down the steep, narrow stairway. There are over 400 steps to this descend and is certainly not recommended for the faint-hearted.

After a quick lunch, we started exploring the town again. This time, the cruise boats taking tourists for an hour long tour on River Muese caught our imagination. We were soon inside the boat wandering along the Muese River. We saw architecturally important buildings and a grand casino supposed to be one of the oldest in Belgium. The recently renovated Casino on the river bank looked splendid from the cruise boat.

It was soon time for us to catch our train back to Brussels. We left this charming town with fond memories of a day well-spent. A magnificent fortress, a gigantic church and a scenic river are the ingredients to the success of this incredible tourist town. This is one many get-away locations in Belgium far from the bustling Brussels city-life. Dinant offers visitors pristine country-side, abundant waters and spectacular monuments. Moreover, the town has centuries worth of stories to showcase to the world.

This Is My Doing

My belief is that we Christians struggle against ourselves more than the devil himself. We hold a high standard, which is good, but it can be produce a lot of self-condemnation.

In I Kings 12:24 God directs the King of Judah not to go against the Israelites in battle, and He says, “This is my doing.”

We have to realize that every day’s events are allowed by God. For whatever reason, God is allowing the circumstances of today. That will make some angry and many would disagree with me that God doesn’t allow any evil, it’s all the devil. But then I have to ask, “So the devil is more powerful than God?”

He had to ask permission to torment Job. I believe he still has to ask permission. So we are back to God allowing things into our lives because He loves us. That’s where we have the problem. We don’t see bad circumstances as being love. We’ve seen too many movies and commercials and have come to believe too much in the American Dream … that we can truly have it all.

Parents know that children don’t need it “all” in any avenue of life. Our Heavenly Father is all-knowing, so He does know what’s best for us. We are human and finite so we do not see the whole picture and honestly do not know what is best for us.

It comes back to trusting God, doesn’t it? Are we willing to do that?

God knows what you are dealing with and in His love He is there for you. When you are surrounded by people who don’t seem to care, This Is His Doing. Have you prayed for compassion? How will you gain it if you don’t know loneliness and sorrow?

Have you asked for humility? He knows the school you need to acquire it.

Have you asked to get out of debt? It’s usually not an issue of having more money, but of learning how to live with what you earn. If what you earn truly does not cover the needs you have, then you will have a powerful motivation to pray and seek direction on where God’s provision lies. Credit cards and debt does not motivate. It provides a hopeless feeling like being in a pit that you cannot climb out of.

When death separates us from somebody we love we think it is not fair, but if we have lived much time on this earth, we would certainly not wish them to give up Heaven just for us. We must grieve and move on knowing they are watching over us. We are “surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses” and that in itself should motivate us to lift our chin up and begin each day renewed with the hope that is within us.

Trust! It’s the basis of any relationship and it must be the basis of our Christian walk. If we look at every circumstance as His doing, then we can ask (or cry out) to know what we are to learn from it.

If we just whine and cry and complain, we never move through the lesson … and sadly, there are many that live that way most of their life. One tragedy that God could have used for good in their lives has turned them away. They have basically forfeited life to live in a state that God never intended.

Jesus died that we might have hope, and peace, and joy in any situation. It is there for us. Our response to our circumstances determines what we get out of bad situations. There are plenty of evidences of God’s good coming out of horrible circumstances. We have that choice!

Do we see the glass half empty or half full? When we see it half empty, our lives evaporate until we are a totally empty vessel without hope, peace or joy.

I love the story of Helen Keller. It seems there was no good for her parents or Helen, but God meant it for good! Some take the opportunity — some do not! Which group do you want to be included in?

Let God fill you up today! Trust in Him. Go back to His side. Know that ALL of it was FOR you! You do not see the whole picture! Life on this earth is but a drop in the bucket compared to eternity. We are not living just for our time on earth! Think long-term!

Personal Loans - The Facts And The Basics

Personal loans are usually unsecured loans for a small amount of money. They are given for any use. Banks have not always been so happy to give personal loans, though. Personal loans are not profitable because they are short term loans on such a small amount.

They are also unsecured which banks tend to try to avoid since it is completely relent upon the individual to get the money paid back. However, more and more lenders are seeing personal loans as being a great way to connect with customers.

When searching for a personal loan a person needs to first establish how much money they would like to borrow. Typically a personal loan is for a small amount, such as a couple thousand dollars. They should also consider if there is an alternative way to get the money besides borrowing.

This will help a person avoid debt problems should they end up not being able to payback the personal loan. Once they have decided on the amount of the loan and that getting a loan is their best option they should shop around for the best loan.

If you are looking to borrow more, say around 20,000 then it might be advisable to use a loans broker. These brokers will have access to a whole range of different lenders and offers.

So if you have bad credit or are self employed they will be able to find you a suitable lender. Of course there will be a small fee involved, so it is best to speak to a few brokers and see what they to offer.

Personal loans have various terms depending upon the lender. It is very important to get the terms and conditions of the loan before ever applying. Every time a person applies for a loan their credit is checked. Too many credit checks, especially in a short period of time, can bring down a persons credit score. Always narrow down to one or two choices of lenders before applying.

One of the best places to look first is a credit union. Credit unions typically are more willing than a bank to extend a personal loan. They are also more willing to offer loans on amounts as small as 500.

Using a credit union will help a person to not borrow too much, just what they need. They will also likely get the best interest rates and have a better chance of getting approved for the loan.

A personal loan should be used sparingly. It is not wise to use personal loans when you are having debt troubles as this just creates more debt problems. A personal loan is perfect for someone who has an unexpected expense come up or who just needs some extra cash.

They are not good to be used to pay regular bills or make payments against a debt. Using a personal loan is this way is a sign you have debt problems. Remember a personal loan is another debt that you will have to repay.

As long as a person is smart and shops around they should be able to handle a personal loan and get the money they need fast.

James Copper writes on all areas of finance and investment. He works for Any Loans who source secured personal loans and no credit check loans for people with credit problems.

Mind Control

Does our mind control our body and health? So much research has been done on our thoughts and how they affect our body physiologically and mentally. That leads me to think about our prayers for healing. If God answered a prayer for healing and “fixed” our health problem, would it stay fixed? Would we remain totally healthy if our thoughts were part of the reason for making us unhealthy in the first place?

If our “old nature” got us into the fix, then it would take us right back into the same problems. God tells us to renew our minds and I bet there’s more to that than we even realize.

Romans 12:1
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. “

In our stressful and super speed world, we don’t take much thought for being a living sacrifice. We’re not used to being hungry or thirsty. We are more used to having things our way and right away. God calls it our “reasonable service” to be a living sacrifice. We are commanded to not be conformed to this world and given the power to transform ourselves by renewing our minds. And in the renewal of our minds, we prove what is the perfect will of God. I do believe in that perfect will is good health because 3 John 2 says, “2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

And there it is again … as our soul prospers. Our soul is our mind, will and emotions, so we are back to what we allow our mind to think on. The more I keep my thoughts on things that God tells us to think of, the better I will be emotionally and physically.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things.

How much power do we have within to keep ourselves healthy? I ponder this often and meditate on God’s words to us and I pray that you will do the same.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to slow down and take time to realize what we are thinking about. What thoughts are driving us throughout the day to perform, to overdo, to feel lonely, depressed and hopeless. Help us not to allow those thoughts. Holy Spirit make us aware instantly when our thoughts are not pure, lovely and of good report. Place within us a desire to focus on Your Word and Your Truth throughout every day. Amen.
