Pump Up - Don’t Blow Up

There’s a lot of people who claim to know the “latest” muscle-building strategies. I’m not talking about steroids; if you want to have a crazy temper, watch your testicles shrink and kidneys stop functioning, hey, knock yourself out! Seriously, you just need a real and safe muscle building diet. My friend is doing that now. His problem hasn’t really been the need to lose weight; what he wants is lean muscle. The question is: what is a decent muscle building diet?

When it comes to a worthy muscle building diet, you should always remember that what you put in your body is crucial. It’s tough with a Micky D’s on every corner, I know. Remember, fast food has pretty much nothing you need, unless you stay away from all the fried stuff, the bread, soda, and ice cream (anything left?). For a decent muscle building diet, you will require lots of protein, so to be fair to the lovers of all things drive-through, a burger minus the bun is OK, grilled chicken (without the skin) too. I read a simple idea by a Dr. Peter Gott, a syndicated newspaper columnist. His advice is to avoid the “white stuff”, as in flour and sugar. (He didn’t mean eggwhites or milk.) :p

Another healthy idea is to add whey protein daily. You can get it online or in healthfood stores. My friend has been having good results with it. The protein is good for muscle tissue.

One of the key elements that must go along with any muscle building diet is weight training. You want to build up your arms, legs, shoulders, pecs and abs? Great! Now you have to adopt an effective, safe regimen. What you’ll ideally want is high weights and low reps. Some guys do super-slow sets; count to ten, hold for five, count to ten again on the return. This is an efficient way to get results. Jon Petit got awesome results by changing his diet, jogging with ankle weights, and spending a lot of time in the “House of Pain” at Glenbard High in Carol Stream IL. You can do it: start your workouts and muscle building diet today. I will too, right after my nap.

Imus is our Jesus

It is easier to crucify one scapegoat than it is to admit that our society has sinned. I have listened to Imus In The Morning for over forty years, from the time I was a college student at Columbia University in New York City. He has always been raunchy and obnoxious, and sometimes he turned me off, and so I turned him off. But most of the time, I laughed at his jokes, because although they were raw, they were often hilarious, and they were right on. What is humor, if not a mirror that comedians hold up to reflect our own behavior. Imus did that perfectly, and most of the time I was able to set aside his smoke-filled-room vulgarity and concentrate on his true humor, though it was often expressed in ways that made me uncomfortable.

Now he has been fired, and for what? For using a term that many of us in our polite society think is racist, sexist and just plain derogatory. And of course it is all of these. But hold on a second, let’s think about this: is Imus the first one to use the term “ho?” No, of course not! Rappers, and in particular black rappers, have used this term for years, and if it does not exactly fit into living-room conversation in “proper” homes, it is still included in the lyrics and live performances of many well-known rap groups. It has been used as a way of describing ladies of the night who work hard for their money, and as a negative stereotype for black women in particular. So it strikes me as the height of hypocrisy when the Reverend Al Sharpton goes on the warpath against Imus. Where was Reverend Al when black rappers began singing about “hos?” Where was he when black women were -and are still-being degraded by their pimps and no-show husbands? Reverend Al is parading before the cameras acting like the prophet Jeremiah, but he hasn’t convinced me of anything other than his love for the spotlight.

So now that he has dethroned Imus, will he now join hands to raise funds to support Imus’ cancer kids at the ranch, or give the profits from Imus brand foods to charity, or any of the other stellar contributions to our world that have been made by Imus? No, I think not. I think Reverend Al will continue to look for his own glory at the expense of any one who runs afoul of his personal moral standards.

I am a rabbi, but this sounds like a crucifixion to me! And if Imus is Jesus, that would make Reverend Al who???

Researching and Purchasing Horse Racing Handicapping Systems

At one time or another, the sales pitch of a handicapping system has sucked all of us in. We just couldn’t resist the promise of big returns for a small investment and bought some product. The system usually had us doing hours of mathematical calculations or looking for some implausible angle that arose maybe once a month. Cash some tickets; rip some up, either way we might be little or no better off. My goal in this writing is to steer the reader away from future awful purchases and shed some light on what to really expect from systems.

First off, if you are an experienced handicapper then you will probably not learn anything new from a system. Horseplayers have had access to all of the literary works the subject of horse racing and handicapping for years. Some have read almost all of them, and through this labor of love have schooled themselves in the philosophies on form, class, speed, pace and the many angles that apply to them. If you are one of them, I congratulate you, but this type of handicapper does not represent the masses.

Just about all systems will work, in some way, at some time and in some situation. If you are a novice handicapper or an intermediate that is just not the type to dive in to the immense library of books on the subject, a system might be for you. Which one? That’s a question with many possible answers. The market is flooded and a small fortune could be invested before the first wager is even placed, so I’ll try to offer a little insight to those of you who want some quick action rather than a recommendation for years of study.

Sometimes we are all too quick to kill the messenger when they don’t deliver the instant results we’re seeking, so be patient. When researching a system avoid the over zealous sales pitch, the “My system picks 50 to 1 long shots”. These windfalls do happen, but the expectations are a little much for anyone to live up to. I do not want to label any product as a “scam”, because I feel that many of these products are created with the best of intentions, but you will now it when you see it. If it sounds unattainable it probably is.

Prefer a system that is geared more towards angles and handicapping factors than mathematical calculations. Systems based on the latter sometimes miss out on the fact that horses are living, breathing creatures influenced by intentions of the living, breathing humans behind them. This is not to say that math isn’t valuable in handicapping. It is especially serviceable in trying to predict speed and pace scenarios, and in betting systems based on wagering structure, but avoid the systems that try to put everything into a neat little foolproof number.

Lastly, look for a system that, at least, offers a money back guarantee and throws in some free bonuses. If the author or creator is willing to stand by his or her product in this way and also offers some other valuable information, it dramatically increases their creditability. Any extra tools that you can add to your handicapping arsenal will increase your knowledge and make the system a bargain. If you are interested in Thoroughbred handicapping systems, stop by The Racing Report and read the reviews of some of the most trusted and well-priced systems on the market.

Why Executive Suites are Often The Best Answer for Temporary Office Space.

The entire concept behind the development of executive suites was to fill the need for temporary office space. The only thing the creators may have done wrong is give it a name like ‘executive suites’ which makes it sound expensive and elite.

Actually, most temporary office space that falls under the category of executives suites is elite and first-class. But it is certainly not expensive.

There are many savings when renting executive suites

  • You are not required to buy office furniture or expensive business machines. These are almost always provided by the company renting the temporary office space.
  • You are not obligated to sign a long-term lease. Executive suites are rented with flexible terms. Use your temporary office space for a day, week, month or longer. Whatever fits your needs.
  • Executive suites are generally located in prestige office buildings in the center of a metro area. They provide the image of success and stability, even though they are only temporary office space.

  • Executive suites are professionally managed

Providing temporary office space is generally a company’s only business. Therefore, they have the incentive to make their executive suites first-class in both service and design. They have the experience to know what facilities are needed such as wireless Internet networks, telephones, cleaning crews and other essential arrangements. They also provide a professionally trained receptionist to greet your visitors and answer your telephone.

If you are in need of temporary office space, either in your area or almost anywhere in the world, you want to become familiar with executive office suites. It’s a concept that was created to provide you with professional, prestigious and convenient temporary office space.

What Goes In is What Comes Out In Your Writing

Think about this: when you’re at your desk working, what you’re writing is not just what’s coming out of your head at that given moment. It’s an amalgam of all you have experienced, felt, touched and smelled. You are drawing on the well of your life experience. Notes choreographer Twyla Tharp in her excellent book, The Creative Habit, “Creativity is more about taking the facts, fictions and feelings we store away and finding new ways to connect them.” But the material in the well didn’t come out of the blue. In one way or another a writer is constantly filling the well by doing things, having experiences and noticing everything around her. It’s easy to lose track of it, though–you can forget that you haven’t pouring anything in in a while and you can find yourself running on empty. I’ve been guilty of that myself. So how do you refill the well? Here are a few suggestions based on what I’ve done in the past. Hopefully it will help you to see how you can best fill your well.

    Reading
Let’s start with the obvious–reading great writing. I once heard that if a writer is stuck or has writer’s block, it’s because he or she hasn’t done their homework and for a writer, homework is reading. Reading reminds you of what’s possible with language; it broadens your mindscape and encourages you to find the next level for your work. When you’re reading something truly beautiful it can be downright inspirational. The first page in Anita Shreve’s Fortune’s Rocks does that for me. She captures the essence of desire so simply and with such power that I know I want that for my writing. Don’t be intimidated–know that you and the writers you read are all working the same craft. .

    Talking to Other Writers
Writing can be a lonely career so community is very important. Though I know this to be true I’m still struck by how much energy and motivation I get from conversing with other authors. I envy the artists of the past who often congregated in salons and discussed their work and lived fierce rivalries and pushed themselves to create great stuff. While such salons no longer exist it is possible to build a semblance of one in your life. When I lived in New York City it was easier to make such connections. Now that I live in the country I have to be more active about it–I have to pick up the phone to talk to a fellow writer or hop a train to attend a friend’s book signing event. What can you do to build your writing community?

    Going to Museums
I’ve always been fascinated by artists and their creative process. When I see a beautiful painting I feel I can almost hear a story or a piece of music connected to it. It just moves me in that way. So I make time to visit museums even if it’s to view only one painting. It used to be one of my favorite lunchtime activities when I lived in the city. I would schedule a “creativity date” with myself and go to a museum or a gallery. Of course I’d take a notebook as well so I could jot down whatever words came to me. Museums may not be your thing, but I throw this out there in case you haven’t tried it. You might surprise yourself.

    Listen to Music
You already know music can put you in different moods–what about mining it for inspiration too? Let’s say you’re trying to create an emotion of loss, desire or loneliness. I would suggest you connect to a song or piece of music that perfectly evokes that emotion for you. If you feel it you can write it–and you will write it much more effectively than if you were trying to create the feeling from scratch. If I want to evoke a feeling of wildness and dissatisfaction and wanderlust I’ll listen to Bruce Springsteen. If I want deep, almost desperate love? Melissa Etheridge. The classical piece Bolero inspires drama and desire. Jazz, especially Miles Davis tunes, evoke a raw sexuality and sometimes a regal beauty depending on my mood. Connect to the music, connect to the emotion and you’ll connect to it in your writing.
Watch Plays, Movies or Even “Gasp!” TV

Since writing good dialogue is a challenge for me I love going places where I can hear great dialogue spoken. To me it’s like music or learning a tune. Once you hear it, it’s easier to write it. I recently attended two August Wilson plays for this purpose: Two Trains Running and King Hedley II. I also love the screenplays of Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill) because his dialogue can be fast and funny. And television? Yes, I know, the experts say if you’re ever going to finish your book you have to give up TV! But there can be excellent writing on TV. For years I was mesmerized by Aaron Sorkin’s work on The West Wing. It was the only show that was “appointment TV” for me. He drew appealing, complex characters and they spoke with prose that sometimes was just magic al. When you have the opportunity to take in writing like that on the tube, don’t miss it!

These ideas should be enough to get you started. Ideally you’ll have many creative inspirations flowing through your life all the time so you’ll never find yourself at the desk with your well empty. Here’s to a beautiful rain.

Prevent Yourself From Chain Letter Scams

Now-a-days the trend of the society is changed and everyone wishes to earn quick money by some means, leading to lots of scams spreading across the internet.

One such worst scam is money earning through chain letters.

    Chain letter through emails

It will start with the advertisement saying that you will become rich just by spending few dollars and sending the letter to 5 or 10 people and these 5 or 10 people will get into chain letter scheme and the link goes on… It will be framed in such a way that you will start thinking it is simple and true. To increase your confidence the sender will claim it as even he had not taken this opportunity seriously when he saw it first. But in due course, he just wanted to try it without any expectation and to the surprise after few weeks, money started flooded in.

It will also give systematic and statistical explanation on how the chain letter works for continuous flow of money. It details in such a way that any reader will definitely wish to join this chain letter scheme.

How Chain letters are proposed as legitimate business deal?

You will be asked to follow simple instructions.

First you have to order few reports (say 5) as shown in the given list and for each of the reports you will be asked to send few dollars (say $5) to the listed person directly. You will be asked to follow the sequence. It will also take details on your e-mail address and residence address to boost up your confidence.

Only after receipt of the money you will be registered with the chain letter scheme. To increase the interest, they will pour more honey like you will be asked to save the reports on your computer so that you can send to as many numbers of people you can and create the link for yourself. They will also provide statistical information like if at least 2% of mail receivers respond to your mails, you will get 1000s and 1000s of dollars and you will become a multi millionaire within a short span of time.

In reality, it is not true and you will not be paid at all. Moreover, you will loose the money, which you had already sent.

How to protect yourself from chain letters scams?

Scammers are people who give false promises that they will make you rich within a short period.

Scammers look for either your money or your personal information. So you have to be very careful in selecting the right job with the right company who has good track records with payment proofs. Also you need to take some third party consultation with Better Business Bureau (BBB) or Small Business Administration (SBA) before joining any online jobs.

You have to collect information on the company through various message forums in order to find out its legitimacy. Do not pay any money in advance or purchase their kit without knowing the company’s profile. If the company is legitimate, it will pay you for the work you do and not vice versa.

Also do not let any personal information like bank details, residence address unless otherwise the company is 100% legitimate.

Please remember, if someone says, you can become a millionaire or billionaire just spending few dollars and sending e-mails, it is nothing but a trap set to steal your money.

Please do not believe these scam chain letters and fall in to the pit yourself. These chain letter authors are perfect frauds and trying to earn money as much as possible for themselves. There are so many legitimate online job providers in the internet who never demand money or your financial particulars. You can pick up the right one for earning a reasonable income. No bureau is certifying these chain letters as a business at all.

Only right amount of knowledge, systematic investment and adequate effort will make anyone to earn money successfully.

Executive Office Space Includes Everything - Even the Kitchen Sink

Once upon a time, if you were looking for executive office space, you got four plain walls and a rug on the floor. The rest was up to you.

Then someone had an idea. Why not take a prestige office building, divide it up into separate offices and provide everything necessary for a business. Thus was born the concept of shared office space or, as it is also called, ‘executive office space’.

They outfitted the offices with furniture and even tastefully decorated them. They also installed a full battery of business machines throughout the building so that anyone renting shared office space would have easy access to the equipment they needed.

Then they threw in the kitchen sink…along with the rest of the kitchen. Also fully equipped conference rooms.

But here was the real brilliance behind the concept of shared office space:

  • No long-term lease was required.
  • Shared office space was made available simply by signing a simple rental agreement.
  • Rentals could be for a day, week, month or whatever length of time the executive office space was needed.
  • Did executive office space become popular?

Absolutely. You can now find shared office space in cities all over the world. Just type either of the two terms, ‘executive office space’ or ’shared office space’ into an Internet search engine. Add the city you are interested in and you’ll probably end up with a number of executive office space options.

Remember, if you want temporary prestige office space, want to conserve on your capital outlay, or just want the convenience of moving into an ‘instant’ office…do a search for executive office space or shared office space. They provide everything…including the kitchen sink.

How to Get Paid for Free Online Paid Surveys

More and more, market researchers are turning to free online paid surveys to gather consumer preference and opinion information for their corporate clients. These paid surveys are free to those who participate in the surveys and fill out the questionnaires. But they are paid surveys in the sense that the survey participants get paid for their time and trouble.

It takes some time and effort to participate in the surveys. To be chosen to participate the survey makers have to know the complete demographic information of the selected participants. They get this information when the would-be future participants apply to be considered for future free online paid surveys.

So to qualify, future participants must first apply to the survey maker and give their complete demographic information. This information is transmitted by filling in the data on the application form supplied by the survey maker.

Then the participants must accept the surveys offered and fill out the questionnaires to complete the surveys. As you might imagine, almost no one is willing to go through those two steps without some assurance of compensation for their efforts.

Now then, all that said and explained, if you want to be a participant and get paid for free online paid surveys, where do you start?

You start by finding a good guide company to steer you to the good, reliable survey makers and avoid the pretenders the bad ones and the sales organizations disguised as survey makers who only want to sell to you. Go with a paid survey guide company. You want to be paying your own guide. The “free” guides out there are generally being paid by second rate and worse “survey makers” to bring applicants to them; you will likely end up where you don’t want to be.

How to identify a good guide company? By size and age (bigger and older is generally better), by recent growth, by the quality of their guarantee and by the lowness of their refund rate. They should offer a money-back guarantee for 60-90 days, backed by a financial company or bank.

Their refund rate is most important. The refund rate is the percentage of their members who demanded a refund under the guarantee. A high refund rate indicates many unhappy clients; a low refund rate indicates happy clients. Look for a refund rate that is, ideally, in the 3-5% range. Avoid any company with a refund rate over 10%.

When you sign up with your guide company, they will give you a copy of their list of preferred survey makers. You will need to signup with as many of these as possible. They cannot send you free online paid surveys to take unless they know you are there and unless they have your complete demographic info: age, sex, address, education, hobbies, etc., etc.

When they invite you to take a free online paid survey, accept and answer all the questions fully, honestly and to the best of your ability. Respond promptly and you will be sent more surveys. More free online paid surveys will mean more money to you.

When are Executive Suites not Expensive?

The answer is simple. Executive suites are not expensive when they are not executive suites.

Does that sound confusing? It is to a lot of business people. But you need to understand what the terms ‘executive suites’ or ‘executive office space’ really mean.

This is particularly true if you are:

  • Looking for temporary office space that has the prestigious look of traditional executive office space without the price tag.
  • You want an ‘instant’ office that doesn’t require furnishing or moving in a lot of business machines.
  • You are looking for inexpensive executive suites in the business center of a metro area.

  • Why executive suites are inexpensive

Consider the enormous expense of setting up and staffing a traditional office. You have to buy furniture, buy or lease business machines, decorate the space and pay for movers. But none of this is necessary with executive office space.

You won’t even need someone to greet your visitors or answer your phone. They walk into a beautifully decorated lobby and are greeted by a friendly trained receptionist, just like in traditional high-priced executive suites.

And here’s the best part. Executive office space doesn’t require a long-term lease that you need a lawyer to review before signing. They traditionally use only a simple rental agreement.

Further more, executive suites don’t lock you in for a set amount of time. If you outgrow your space, you can move without hassles or delays. You may not even have to change your address or telephone. Executive office space providers can often make larger facilities available to you in the same building.

When you add up all the savings and conveniences, you will understand why executive suites only sound expensive. Plus, you will find them in cities all over the world. Just do an Internet search for ‘executive suites’ or ‘executive office space’.
