How To Turn Your Business Card Into A Marketing Machine

The humble business card is one of the most powerful marketing tools available. Inexpensive, convenient to carry and yet, arguably, also one of the most under-utilised. Every time it is handed out is an opportunity to market to a new contact. Turning your business card into a marketing machine isn’t terribly tricky. Here are some tips to get you started:

–Make sure your name and logo appear on the front of your business card. This may seem like a “no-brainer” but, surprisingly, many business cards simply display the cardholder’s name and contact details.

–Explain clearly and simply what you do. If the purpose of your business isn’t spelt out in the name, add a short phrase. For example: H. G Smith & Sons doesn’t tell us much about the business. Adding the phrase “Builders specialising in hillside dwellings” not only explains what H.G. Smith & Sons do, it also defines their target market.

–Give people a reason to contact you instead of your competitor. Do you offer a discount on certain things? Free quotes? Perhaps you give away a free report to every newsletter subscriber. Put it on the card! Tell everyone, lucky enough to receive one of your business cards, how much they will benefit from using your service or product.

–Design your card to be easily read. A “busy” design full of fancy graphics and bright colours will draw attention away from your message.

–Make it easy to contact you. Your details should be in plain sight on the front of the card. If the cardholder has to spend time looking for your phone number or website, the card is not working for you.

–Finally, don’t be afraid to hand it out! Give a card to the plumber when he fixes your sink, to the mechanic when she fixes your car. Ask local businesses for permission to leave some at their front desk. You never know how many times one of your cards will change hands and how many leads it will generate.

Ah yes, the days when a business card was simply a name and phone number are truly gone. It is now every business’ portable marketing machine.

Bud Light Street Beat Delivers Volvo V50 At Vail Village

What could better give enthusiasts enjoyment than jam-packed music - from reggae, blues, rock n’ roll and more. And Bud Light Street Beat Concert Series could give that enjoyment. Imagine a free concert at the heart of Vail Village. And imagine a free 2007 Volvo V50 as a grand prize to a lucky Eagle, Summit or Lake County resident. How could one wish for more?

Aside from the new Volvo V50, lucky registered town guests were also given return trip in the Volvo Vail Grand Prize Guest Giveaway Vacation with deluxe accommodations. Additional prizes were also raffled weekly.

The 2006-2007 Bud Light Street Beat series, sponsored by Budweiser, started on November 29, 2006 and ended on April 11, 2007 with local favorite Funkalicious. All Bud Light Street Beat performances, except the March 21 show, took place at Checkpoint Charlie which is located on the west end of Vail Village. The Countrywide American Ski Classic Street Beat on March 21 was held in Golden Peak finish stadium as part of the Ski Classic festivities.

The eight finalists in the running for the new Volvo V50 seemed reserved - almost cowed onstage. Even after the group was trimmed to four, they only flaunted a few smiles. But when Tracy Escobedo’s key opened the door of the new Volvo, he yelled ‘yeaaaah’ and threw his hands in the air. The crowd bellowed in unison with him. “I had no idea it would be me,” Escobedo said after winning. “I only missed one, but once you get up there, it’s a big surprise.”

The Volvo V50 is the station wagon or the estate version of the Volvo S40 small family car. The Swedish wagon, which uses the Volvo P1 platform, is equipped a powerful engine that produces 340 horsepower. The said engine debuted at the 2004 Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The V50’s interior features soft “theatre” lighting of various sections, and a translucent “iced aqua” center stack. The wagon is also equipped with a bunch of safety features that include “Volvo Intelligent Vehicle Architecture.” The new estate from the Swedish automaker is a proof of its revolutionary changes that evolve with time. The wagon use refined technology that is far better than that of Volvo 750 parts.

Another variant of the wagon is called the T5 AWD. It features four-wheel drive and a straight-5 2.5-litre petrol engine mated to a light-pressure turbocharger. Its valvetrain, a DOHC design with variable camshaft timing, has four valves per cylinder. The engine is capable of producing 220 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.

Since contestants in the local drawing could enter once per Street Beat event, Escobedo had accumulated ten chances for his name to be drawn. But the key to open the door of the V50 came down to pure luck. “My boss was down in the crowd, and he said I should drive the car to Vegas,” Escobedo said. “I live right here in the village, so it’s nice to just walk out one day and come back with a car.”

At one point in the contest, when several called names in a row did not emerge, announcer and Vail Valley Foundation Vice President of Communications John Dakin lamented that “summer will be here soon.” “I’ve never had that much trouble giving away a car,” Dakin quipped. “I was about to announce that I’ll take it.”

Dakin counts this year’s Street Beat concert series as a success, and looks forward to next year’s festivities. “I think it gets better and better each year,” he said. “It’s a great deal for locals and a real amenity for people who just happen to be in town, walk down the street and end up in the middle of a fantastic party.”

All the contestants received a custom gift bag from Vail, not much consolation, but finalist Patrick Benway, of Vail, took it in stride. “Hey, it doesn’t matter, it was fun - it’s nice to have a local event that creates camaraderie,” Benway said. “I’m happy for the guy - although I would look good in Volvo.”

Hyperpigmentation- Alternatives to Hydroquinone

Hydroquinone is the bleaching chemical found in most over-the-counter and prescription bleaching creams. It works by disrupting the formation of melanin in the skin. Most often formulations with hydroquinone are used to try to fade areas of hyperpigmentation caused by acne, bug bites, or some other insult to the skin. Other conditions that cause hyperpigmentation are pregnancy, where hormones cause a condition known as melasma, and age spots where dark spots appear on the back of hands as a result of overexposure to the sun.

The Federal Drug and Food Administration placed hydroquinone on the cancer watch list because it has been shown to cause cancer in rats. While removing a potential carcinogen from public use is a good thing, anyone who has used fade creams with hydroquinone knows this is no great loss. Many users know it’s next to useless anyway. Months of use result in only the slightest change.

Skin care experts have moved to create new products that give better results. The current program for dealing with hyperpigmentation problems is three-fold-prevention in the form of limiting sun exposure and protection with a sun screen; regular exfoliation and/or microdermabrasion of dead skin cells so the fading agent can penetrate; and finally use of newer fade creams and gels.

So what is available? One line of products that has had great success is Obagi. The Obagi kit contains products that follow the prescribed method of protection from the sun, exfoliation, followed up with a fade cream. In fact, Obagi has combined a sun screen and lightening agent in one product called Sunfader. Vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid has shown success in inhibiting the production of melanin, and Obagi has a line containing Vitamin C as well.

Other skin care lines use tretinoin. Tretinoin has been shown to be effective ingredient in treating skin discolorations; however, it takes much longer to produce satisfactory results. Products containing tretinoin must be used for a minimum period of six months before any improvement in skin color is noticed.

Kojic acid is a popular ingredient in some fade gels. It is by-product of manufacturing Saki, the Japanese wine. Kojic acid is very effective in inhibiting melanin production. Unfortunately, kojic acid, like hydroquinone, turns brown in color and loses its potency upon exposure to air and sunlight.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids, or AHA as they are commonly known, can be combined with other treatments such as kojic acid and azelaic acid for improving sun-damaged skin. AHAs help the other ingredients penetrate the skin deeply. AHA acid peels are very useful in improving skin discolorations.

Lastly, arbutin is a natural alternative to hydroquinone. It is derived from cranberry, blueberry, and bearberry leaves. It is often used in combination with other ingredients as in the SkinCeuticals line where it is combined with Kojic acid.

Advanced Skateboard Systems of The Future in 2025

What will skateboards look like in 15-20 years? Have you ever considered that? Well, in the early 1900s skateboards were literally roller skate wheels strapped to two-by-fours and they were not very safe at all. In the future skateboards will come with Stability Control Systems similar to those required on new SUVs. No more high speed wobbles on hills if your trucks are too lose.

But that is not the only cool features that the advanced technology skateboard engineers are considering. One gentleman from the Online Think Tank believes that they will also have Holographic Projection to set up pretend barriers to jump and fellow skateboard riders to try to duplicate their radical moves and tricks. Holographic Projection Technologies will soon be here and they will be integrated into the new skateboards and hover boards of the future.

What other outrageous and total awesome technologies can you have on the hover board-skateboards of the future? Well how about; Mind Control - Human/Hover Board Interfaces. Yes just like in the advanced Apache Attach Helicopters, you think the board moves that fast, instantaneously in fact? Oh yah, now we are talking radical tricks on the ramp. If you think you are going to crash the board knows this and moves back into position? Much safer too.

Of course the Skateboards of the future will also have on-board video cameras to film your best moves and tricks and you can play them back at home or thru the Holographic Display. We are talking about one-hundred percent pure adrenaline with Replay Technologies to Share or Trade with Friends. All this is in the pipeline and soon to hit the streets in your lifetime.

Videos Online - How To Make Online Profits Using Videos

Videos are great viral marketing tools that can attract a lot of traffic to your web site. They are similar to how article marketing is used to boost traffic to your web site. It is used not only as a marketing tool, but also as a tool for teaching online. Whatever its purpose is, business videos are great for supporting your marketing scheme, and is an effective way of advertising your website, enticing your audience to visit.

Ways of Profiting from Online Videos

A way to increase conversions and boost online profits, after driving traffic to your web site, can be done through the use of live video broadcasts, video emails, or video on demand infomercials by online businesses. This can add to the bottom line of your company.

People generally remember 10% of what they read and 20% of what they hear; but with the use of videos online, people can remember 50% of what they both see and hear together. People need time to process things before they can act on your message, that is why videos can help you increase their level of processing on what they see and hear, increasing your chances for profit.

Video broadcasts can also increase the response rate of people. If a call to action is actively delivered, with sincere enthusiasm and passion for your topic, then it is much easier to follow since they are especially more powerful action drivers.

Your time of building a relationship with your customers is also dramatically shortened since you can cut through the technological barriers of the internet, putting yourself online, allowing the people you do business with to know, like, and trust you better.

You can avoid spending unnecessary high costs for sending someone on the road to meet with your clients or to attend a meeting. The technology is readily available, and the effects of your savings are immediate and obvious.

You can also enjoy ’soft’ cost savings that dwarf your hard dollar travel costs by sparing yourself the productivity drain and the physical and mental tolls travel takes on your employees, or even yourself.

How to Market Your Videos for the Most Traffic

Videos, when used effectively, can be a vital tool in improving your online business by using it as a marketing tool, such as advertising for your web sites. This can help entice your net audiences to do business with your company, depending on how effective it is as a marketing tool for boosting your site’s traffic.

One way of doing so is by taking advantage of free broadcasting. There are a lot of social networking web sites, as well as video broadcasting websites, that reach millions of visitors every day. You can take advantage of the sites’ free traffic and networking by uploading your videos to these web sites.

Use your video blogs to provide useful information to your visitors, just the same as when writing on a blog. You can pattern your videos to follow certain formats, such as a TV show, infomercials, or how-to videos, as long as you work around a topic that ties in your business. If your video is creative and useful, it has a higher chance of getting passed around to other people.

Do not forget to include your web site’s URL when editing the video. Place your web site’s URL somewhere during the playback. If possible, try to keep your web site’s URL on display or visible throughout the entire video. Placing it along the bottom of the screen is preferable, but at least display your web site’s URL at the beginning or the end of the video.

How to Make a Successful Video

Creating a quality business video for your online business is a difficult task, not to mention expensive. You need to make sure that you create the best video that will accomplish your goals.

One way of doing this is by determining the purpose for your video. Define the exact purpose of the video and state that up front to prevent the person watching the video from getting confused, especially if there are too many information packed into the video. You must have a single idea that you are trying to convey in your marketing video to avoid packing it with too much information.

Determine your target audience before making the video. Make your video pitch for whatever your target audience is. If your product is for the home, then let your advertisement pitch for the home. If it is more for the tech savvy, then you may need to use a different approach on the video. Keep in mind that your videos will be used by your online business to market potential customers, so make sure that your video will explain the virtues of a product by the company.

Make sure that your marketing videos are not overly lengthy. Keep the flow of information brief and to the point. Once somebody has decided to purchase or would like more information, then you could give them longer videos that will cover the details; otherwise, give information in small chunks.

The content of your video must be interesting in order to keep the audience’s attention, so you can get your message across. Some videos use humor and sex appeal, while others do not. If these are not what your video is aiming for, then focus back on your targeted audience and determine what they would appreciate from a video. Keep your information fresh and appealing to them.

You need to make sure that the audience can remember what they saw long after the video. Make the content interesting, yet memorable.

Videos are great marketing tools, especially for online businesses, since it can act like an advertisement for them. Making it accessible online makes it more prominent to your audience, especially if you carefully place it on certain web sites that can maximize its productivity.

The Man With Sixteen Balls

When I visited my dad we always fell into the same routine; face to face at the dining room table spending time catching up, getting nostalgic over family photos, playing board games, and sharing family meals. This was what was always in my mind’s eye when I envisioned my visits home. But after being on his own for awhile, my father had gradually become more of a “bachelor” and realized somehow, without consulting me, that he could and would live his life to his liking, gosh darn it. It was never more apparent to me than the day I realized he had traded in his dining room table for a billiards table.

I think a part of me was sure my visits home were pretty much the highlights of Dad’s existence and I didn’t always notice the familiarity of my old home. It’s always been the way it was when I moved away. Dad and I were standing in the kitchen talking, or I was talking about myself, when I passed through the dining room, dropping my purse on the table in passing. I was still walking and talking when I heard the contents of the purse spill to the floor, having toppled off the table. I lifted up the edge of the tablecloth and found it was covering a billiards table, and I had unknowingly let my purse drop on the siderail. I looked up from the green felt to my Dad’s sort of defiant look. The tablecloth was probably there only for the table’s protection, not to hide it. Right?

Once I realized what had happened, I asked my dad where he had gotten the billiards table. Dad has always enjoyed his games; over the years the basement has turned into a combination card room/party central for Dad and his buddies, getting together to play poker or watch sports tournaments. Perhaps this is why I was not expecting to find a billiards table in his dining room. He told me that he had run out of room in the basement, and that he had to find a place to put it. To Dad it wasn’t a question of getting a billiards table, you see; the dilemma was where to put said table.

I was only temporarily stymied at the idea that Dad would remove our meeting spot, my home inside the old home. I realized while my life came and went out of that house, Dad was there every day, all day. If he wanted a billiard table in his dining room I could adapt.

It’s funny now. I pop in for my visit and Dad and I still sit face to face in the same room spending time catching up, looking at pictures, sharing our meals. The billiards table is just fine with a piece of plywood and tablecloth over it, and most of the time I don’t even think about it being there.

It’s always good to see things a new way. I think Dad is onto something here. Though I can’t imagine I will have a billiards table in my dining room today, I hope that like my Dad, I will have a few surprises left. And you can never have too many balls.

Berlin Flats - The Frugal Traveler’s Choice of Home in the Capital

Berlin flats are one of the reasons Berlin is a truly wonderful city to immerse yourself into.

Berlin, Germany is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Visitors from around the world flock to Germany’s capital city, which also happens to be the only truly international metropolis that is comparable to Paris or London.

What makes Berlin a must-visit place? Many say the city’s appeal lies not only in its highly prominent role in history, but also in the spirit and bounce of the city and its people. Berlin has Macht und Geist, that powerful combination of power and intellect. It is an important hub of culture, contemporary architecture, nightlife, and avant-garde artistry. It is therefore no surprise that Berlin is such a riveting magnet to individuals who are drawn to artistic freedom, liberal lifestyle, and urban eclecticism.

Be Kind to Your Wallet.
If you’re a tourist and are seeing Berlin for the first time, experience all that the city has to offer more concretely and thoroughly by choosing Berlin flats over hotels. If you plan to stay in the city far longer than tourists normally do, then Berlin flats are also the most economical option for you. Everything in Berlin has great architecture, even run-down East Berlin flats. Though built to maximize the use of space, they hold a whimsical, old world appeal and look like lego bricks stacked on top of each other. Berlin flats allow you to experience German life first-hand. Moreover, they are budget-friendly because they are much cheaper than hotel rooms.

There are many affordable flats in Berlin, and this is largely due to the disparity between the sheer number of apartments available and the actual number of people who choose to live there. Berlin flats are so affordable that if you are a tourist used to New York or London prices, you would find the rent laughable.

Where Does One Find Berlin Flats?
So, how do you go about finding Berlin flats? You may book online or try your luck with newspapers, magazines, and agents. Online, you may book through any of the real estate websites in Germany. In newspapers and magazines, look at the Wohnen section. Wohnen means Living, and this is the section in magazines and newspapers where you will find a listing of Berlin flats. Among the newspapers that you can try are the Berliner Zeitun, Der Tagesspiegel, and the Berliner Morgenpost. The leading private advertising paper, Zweite Hand, is also a good bet because every Saturday, it features hundreds of listings for every flat size and type imaginable. Now, should you decide to use the services of an agent, be warned that such services can set you back between 15% to 100% of one month’s Kaltmiete, or the equivalent of one month’s rent without side costs in the form of utilities, for example. The good thing about this option, though, is that you can have the agent do the paperwork for you. There are many agencies to choose from and you can shop for your agency of choice online or from telephone directories.

It has been said that the best way to acquaint yourself with a city is to experience the parts of it that are ordinary and real. No part could be more ordinary or real than Berlin flats.

Looking for Berlin flats? Visit Holiday4You.com to find the perfect place to rent for your next vacation.

You can also find golfing villa vacations or even villas in Nerja, Spain for you next holiday here.

Volvo Reveals S40, V50 Facelifts

Volvo Cars set forth a number of distinctive facelifts made to the new S40 sedan and the V50 wagon. The modifications are made to respond to the growing needs of drivers and car occupants alike. The Volvo S40 is given cues that resemble the S-range look shown on the S80 car. The V50, on the other hand, flaunts the new V-range without compromising the original compact and sporty features.

“When it comes to the exterior, we’re aiming for increased differentiation between the two models. The interior refinements have focused on liberating smart storage space,” said Volvo Cars Design Director Steve Mattin.

The facelift made to the new S40 could be obviously seen when it is viewed from the front. Volvo’s pool of engineers and designers have given the car new headlamps, color-coordinated soft nose creates a broader, lower stance through the new grille with a larger Volvo mark, and a lower air intake. The Volvo S40 is the modern replica of Volvo 740 parts to bolster the evolution aimed at pushing away its boxy image.

“The new, lower and more horizontal appearance radiates smooth power. This impression is reinforced when the car is seen from the side. At the rear, it is the shape of the new tail lamps and the new bumper that further boost the dynamic appearance,” said Steve Harper, the designer of the new Volvo S40 and V50.

The new V50 features the new black egg-crate grille with its larger Volvo iron mark to stress a sportier aura. The new headlamps and the three sculpted lower air intakes are the features that give the new color-coordinated soft-nose V50 front an increased inkling of solidity. “Here, we’ve created visual vertical elements in order to further emphasize the new grille,” said Harper.

The lower part of the tail lamp panel given to both the S40 and V50 is 30 millimeters higher than the previous version and the lamps themselves have an entirely new graphic layout. The brake lights are now of LED type and the position marker lamps emphasize the car’s shoulders.

The new bumper features integrated reflectors in the lower corners and the lower, broader design language is supplemented with the more horizontal lines of the exhaust tailpipe. “The improved shape and position of the exhaust tailpipes is a good example of how a little extra visual touch can create a highly potent impression,” noted Harper.

To refine the interior and to attain liberation movement, the vehicles are given more storage space. “The criticism of the current models’ limited storage space served as high-octane fuel when the time came to sketch the new interior of the S40 and V50. We weren’t entirely satisfied until we felt we had exploited every single available cubic centimeter in an efficient way,” said Harper.

The team of designers and engineers concentrated its efforts on two areas: the door sides and the centre stack. The entire lower part of the front door inside panels was redesigned. The audio system loudspeakers were reshaped to free up space for a new, larger storage compartment with space for an A4 format book, an upright soft drinks can or a water bottle lying down.

Other remarkable features of the car include larger and classier centre console with additional decor versions such as the Nordic Light Oak real wood inlay, elegant sliding cover and flexible armrest, brake lights with EBL (Emergency Brake Lights) function, a new upholstery and green highlight color, and an even sharper driveline range. Also, diesel engines, which account for 55 percent of the Volvo S40 and the Volvo V50 sales in Europe and 25 percent in total, are available in three versions: the 1.6D 109 hp, 2.0D 136 hp, and the D5 180 hp.

“We’ve even utilized the small spaces that are usually simply covered over when they’re not housing controls for options or accessories. Now instead, the space has been converted into a handy compartment, for instance for a mobile phone. After all, the phone is not something we should be using while driving, anyway,” explained Steve Harper.
