Volvo Babies Are Now Grown Ups

Volvo Cars is currently heading towards a brand new styling philosophy to wipe away its boxy image. The evolution of design resulted to revelation of jaw-dropping revamped Volvo S40 sedan and the Volvo V50 wagon which have been both refined to give each model a more distinctive look.

“When the cars were introduced almost four years ago, we emphasized that they gave buyers the properties of the larger Volvo models but in a more compact format. Now we’re taking this approach one step further by increasing the ‘grown-up’ quality perception even more,” said Volvo Cars President and CEO Fredrik Arp.

Volvo also entertained a number of design cues to give the S40 closer semblance to the new S-range look as first shown on the Volvo S80. The V50 and the V70, on the other hand, are cues to look closer to new V-range. “When it comes to the exterior, we’re aiming for increased differentiation between the two models. The interior refinements have focused on liberating smart storage space,” said Volvo Cars Design Director Steve Mattin.

The Swedish automakers product lines are far better that they were years ago. This is because automaker wanted to prove a remarkable design evolution that will set it apart from the assembly of the previous discount Volvo parts. The all-new S40 comes with the new color-coordinated soft nose, a new grille with a larger Volvo mark, new headlamps, and a lower air intake.

“The new, lower and more horizontal appearance radiates smooth power. This impression is reinforced when the car is seen from the side. At the rear, it is the shape of the new tail lamps and the new bumper that further boost the dynamic appearance,” said Steve Harper, who has been responsible for the design of the new Volvo S40 and the Volvo V50.

The all-new V50 is equipped with a sportier black egg-crate grille with a larger Volvo mark, new headlamps, and the three sculpted lower air intakes. These new features give the new color-coordinated soft-nose V50 front an increased aura of solidity. “Here, we’ve created visual vertical elements in order to further emphasize the new grille,” said Harper.

“The criticism of the current models’ limited storage space served as high-octane fuel when the time came to sketch the new interior of the S40 and V50. We weren’t entirely satisfied until we felt we had exploited every single available cubic centimeter in an efficient way,” explained Harper.

Under the hood, the Volvo cars feature sharper driveline range. The T5 engine produces an output of 171kW. Internationally there are also five other petrol engine versions available - ranging from a 74kW 1.6-litre to 126kW 2.4i including the bio-ethanol Flexifuel variant.

The new S40 and V50 are given a long list of safety features to go with the new design philosophy. Features include the optional Active Bi-Xenon headlamp, hazard warning lights, brake lights with the EBL (Emergency Brake Lights) function, and cutting-edge safety airbags.

“The Volvo S40 and V50 not only account for one-third of our total sales volume in 2007; they also play a vital role in reinforcing the Volvo brand. The new models sharpen their competitiveness in every important area and I am convinced that together with the new C30, they will attract even more new and younger buyers,” noted Arp.

Outsource System Programming

Planning to outsource system programming but don’t know from where to begin? If you are in same situation then worry not as Softage is there for you. Softage is a complete IT services company providing various services related to the same field. But prior outsourcing system programming it is wise to know about this field as this will only help you.

System programming is the sophisticated activity of programming system software. This is not a new technology but got in boom in recent times. The main and distinguishing attribute of system programming when compared to application programming is that systems programming is to create software which provides specific services to the computer hardware. This means it requires a greater degree of hardware awareness. Whereas when we talk about application programming is to produce software which provides services to the end user.

With this modern age technology people round the globe generally prefer to outsource system programming to some other company as it is not only easily affordable but also ensures quality in the delivery of the project. System programming is different from application programming and that’s why programmers are advised to specialize in one or the other. And Softage is one place which offers complete services related to system programming.

It has been observed that system programming at times is only restricted to limit programming facilities but you won’t be facing any of these issues with Softage.

Volvo Trio Scoops Used Car Honours

Easter is known as a hot buying season for auto enthusiasts. But Volvo has additional three good reasons to be jubilant about Easter. This is because its trio of models has scooped awards in the Used Car Honours 2007. The commendations for the XC90, S60, and V50 were published by Auto Express magazine. In connection to this, the Swedish automaker has expressed its plans to offer a wider range of older models through Volvo Selected Used Cars, its approved pre-owned scheme.

At the Auto Express Used Car awards, the Volvo XC90, the acclaimed SUV from the automaker, was adjudged an outright winner in the off-road 4×4 category. There was further success for the Volvo S60 sedan and the Volvo V50 sports wagon. The cars both achieved the Commended status in the compact executive and estate car classes respectively.

Volvo has already established an impressive history in prestigious awards. As a fact, this is the second year that the XC90 has scooped the honor for the Best 4×4 Off-roader. Additionally, this is the third year in succession that Volvo has claimed three trophies.

For the 2007 Auto Express awards, judges have intimated full praise for the Volvo trio. They have this to say: “The Volvo XC90 is still the must-have off-roader. A top Euro NCAP rating and the marque’s reputation for dealer service and reliability combine to make the XC90 a desirable used car that’s also a sensible buy.”

The Volvo XC90, a mid-size luxury crossover SUV which has debuted at the New York Auto Show, is sharing the P2 platform with its siblings - the Volvo S80 and other larger Volvo cars. The remarkable Volvo XC90 parts include the 4.4 L Yamaha V8 engine that produces 311 units of horsepower and 325 ft•lbf of torque. For this model year, the car was updated to deliver a subtly-restyled front and rear, and a more luxurious interior.

In regards with the Volvo S60, judges have this to say: “When it comes to value in this sector, there’s only one place to look. With plenty of kit, loads of space and some of the most relaxing seats we’ve experienced, the Volvo S60 is a soothing choice.” They also gave unrestricted praises in favor of the V50. They said, “With a 417-litre boot that grows to 1,307 litres, the Volvo V50 isn’t the biggest load-lugger, but it’s one of the most stylish. Top-rate safety and build quality complete the package.”

Accepting the prestigious awards was Anne Woodward, the used car programme manager. “Our continued success in the used car market is reflected in the number of visitors to our website, www.volvoselectedusedcars.com, where 280,000 used Volvos are viewed online each month - and that’s a significant increase on last year’s figure.”

Woodward also intimated the automaker’s plans that will appeal to cost-conscious motorists looking to buy a used Volvo. “Last year 12 percent of our used car sales were of vehicles aged three to four years. In 2007 our goal is to get that much nearer to 20 percent. Offering a wider range of older models means more customers than ever will be able to afford a Selected Used Volvo. And that means more people will benefit from the high standards of vehicle preparation and guaranteed peace-of-mind motoring provided by our franchised dealer network,” she said.

Step 1 For Alcoholics Addicts Gamblers Cocaine Addicts Coda Al-Anon Sala Emotions Anonymous

STEP 1 (Step one is used my Alcoholics anonymous Narcotics anonymous Cocaine anonymous Overeaters anonymous Emotions anoymous Al-anon Sex and love addicts Codependents anonymous Gamblers anonymous to start their recovery program of the 12 steps.

Step 1 admitted we were powerless over (what ever your affliction) and that our lives were unmanageable.

It was suggested to me that I wrote my step one down so that I could see it for what it really was!

I wrote what happened to me that last time I drank/drugs.

The fear it created.

The guilt it created.

The regret it created.

The harm I did to myself.

The harm I did to other people.

The financial damage.

The psychological damage.

The relationship damage.

The mental damage.

How it effected my working.

How it effected my self esteem.

I wrote all of this down and then put the facts into an envelope, then I put the envelope in a safe place to be taken out, read and scrutinized. After a while the thinking says, “It was not that bad, you will get away with one”. So, when the step one is written it cannot be denied that along with the passing of time, that all of this did not occur. So, I know today, that if I drink, all that is in that envelope will come back to me again. Thankfully, today, I have a choice. In the past I had no choice.

see http://www.the12steps.com

The “unmanageability”, guilt, resentment, hatred, debt, anxiety, fear, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, depression, self loathing, all of these caused “DIS-EASE” and that disease caused me to crave. Another way of looking at craving is that it is a feeling that will go away once you feed it with whatever it is crying out for!.

In my case, my past had caused me so much DIS-EASE that I just wanted rid of feelings, I felt fear all of the time, and thoughts would race through my head. My drinking career was very short, but when I drank, I drank in a way that harmed people around me, and it also put my own life in danger. It cost me much more than money, I ended up in an army alcohol addiction unit. I would not accept that I was an alcoholic. The psychiatrist explained to me, (after I had tried to punch him for hinting that I had a drink problem!) that “an alcoholic is a person who constantly does damage to himself, or to other people through his or her drinking”. I drank because of my anxiety. I can now see that it was unmanageable, because I had denied it. I did not want to discuss it. This was due to the fear of being thrown into the “nuthouse”. Also I was trapped in “macho mode”. How could I tell people that I was a serving soldier, but, I could not get on a bus, train or meet people in a social way unless I was under the influence of alcohol?. Yet, I was still involved in active service as a soldier, and I carried out my job in an exemplary manner. I was a prisoner of people’s opinions. I was always wanting to be liked, and I would crash down on anyone who I thought disliked me. It was always conflict, never peace. In my time in AA and NA, I have met so many people who had totally different drinking/using patterns to myself.

I was very lucky to meet a lovely old lady in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. I was asking her what her rock bottom was. She told me that she could not sleep, and she was told that a ¼ glass of Sherry would get her to sleep. She told me that she would crave all day for her Sherry. She said it soon crept up to 3 full glasses of Sherry. Her rock bottom was the thought of 4 glasses of Sherry!. I looked at this woman who was old enough to be my Grandma and I thought, “Great, she has got more courage, and more of an insight into where she was heading, which is more than I did! ”. That, taught me a lot. I realised then that the only requirement for membership was a desire to stop drinking. I know that if I was to drink, because of a problem, it would be like putting out a fire with petrol!. It would only make matters worse. So, step one, I fully understand the implications of today!

I was always seeking the 4 ‘A’s:

APPROVAL

APPRECIATION

ACCEPTANCE

APPLAUSE

Seeking the 4 ‘A’s caused me so much pain. Always wondering what people would think of me, my fear of rejection kept me in a violent mode. I was scared to say no. This kept me involved in gang warfare, in my heart I knew I should not be involved with that lifestyle, but my head was telling me to seek the 4 ‘A’s. I understand now that the heart and the head should be in tune. That is what the following steps are about.

Today I get the 4 ‘A’s by trying to live a spiritual, caring life, not from everyone, but from the people that count.

Meditation and Stress Relief - Finding ‘Peace of Mind’

To Medi-TATE or Medi-CATE

Stress related disorders are increasing at an alarming rate. According to health officials, it is not our stress that is killing us; it is what we are doing with it (Sapolsky, 2003). Stress, like pain, is there for a reason; it is our body’s way of telling us that something is wrong or out of balance. Unmanaged stress takes many forms but most often manifests as illness (Transcendental meditation: Reducing and eliminating stress, 2006). To deal with stress, many people turn to temporary fixes such as alcohol, prescription drugs, sex, smoking and any number of placating activities, all of which actually help to increase stress rather than decrease it in the long run. Many doctors are now taking a preventative approach and are prescribing daily medi-Tation, rather than medi-Cation, for stress relief (Weil, 2005, p. 209).

The ‘What’ and ‘Why’ of Meditation

“O omnipresent cosmic sound of Aum, reverberate through me, expanding my consciousness from the body to the universe, and teach me to feel in Thee the all-permeating perennial bliss.” Paramahansa Yogananda

The mental image that many people get when meditation is mentioned is that of a yogi or monk sitting in lotus (inverted cross-legged) position, eyes closed, fingers in upside-down OK sign and chanting the word Aum, over and over. Others may think of new-agers or hippies and still others may associate meditation with cult-like behaviour. While it is true that many religions practice meditation for the purpose of spiritual enlightenment, and forms have been adopted by new-agers for a variety of reasons ranging from enlightenment to astral or out-of-body projection, one does not have to have any specific belief system in order to reap the benefits of meditation.

Originating in Vedic Hinduism (Meditation, 2006), the practice of meditation is thousands of years old and is utilized by many different religions and cultures all over the world.

“Meditation is usually defined as one of the following:
• a state that is experienced when the mind dissolves and is free of all thoughts
• focusing the mind on a single object (such as a religious statue, or one’s breath, or a mantra)
• a mental “opening up” to the divine, invoking the guidance of a higher power
• reasoned analysis of religious teachings (such as impermanence, for Buddhists).
Its ritual and contemplative qualities are similar to prayer in Western religions, but prayer emphasizes communication with a higher being, whereas meditation focuses on developing oneself” (Meditation, 2006).

So why meditate? According to peace visionary and renowned author Sri Chimnoy, “we meditate because this world of ours has not been able to fulfill us. The so-called peace that we feel in our day-to-day life is five minutes of peace after 10 hours of anxiety, worry and frustration” (Sri Chinmoy, 1989. P.3). Taking time out to just be still and quiet has an amazing effect on the body, mind and spirit.

The Effects of Meditation

Trancendental Meditation or TM, founded by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1957 (Transcendental meditation: Reducing and eliminating stress, 2006) is a simple type of meditation that when practiced twice daily for 15-20 minutes has been shown to reduce stress, improve overall health and increase energy levels. The effects are cumulative in that the more one practices the better and faster the results. According to Dr. Andrew Weil, author of Healthy Aging, “meditation does you no good unless you practice it on a regular basis” (Weil, 2005, p. 209).

Extensive research of TM at more than 200 hospitals, universities and research institutions in over 27 countries has shown marked physiological, psychological, and sociological effects (Transcendental meditation: Reducing and eliminating stress, 2006). A randomized study of Vietnam War veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder showed significant improvement:

“Over a three-month period, patients practicing Transcendental Meditation showed clear-cut improvements in all aspects of the syndrome studied, with significant decreases in depression, anxiety, insomnia, and alcohol consumption, improvement in family problems, reduced severity of delayed stress syndrome and less emotional numbness, as well as greater ease in obtaining a job. By contrast, the control group who received standard treatment with psychotherapy showed no significant change on any measure” (Transcendental meditation: Reducing and eliminating stress, 2006).

According to Lawrence Leshan, author of How to Meditate (1995), the reason meditation works so well at reducing stress is that “the lactate concentration of the blood decreases sharply during mediation” (Leshan, 1995, p. 26). Anxiety and tension are related to blood-lactate levels and during meditation these levels are decreased four times faster than in non-meditative states. MRI imaging of electrical activity of the brain has confirmed that “Zen meditation rewires the circuitry of the brain” as reported by Dr. James Austin, a neurophysiologist at the University of Colorado (Meditation, 2006). The deep relaxation that comes with meditation results in an overall calming effect which when practiced daily helps to improve health at a fundamental level.

Adverse Effects

As a precaution, many meditation practitioners suggest beginners receive instruction from trained meditators or time-tested systems such as TM. This is because studies have shown that in some cases people have experienced adverse side effects ranging from confusion and disorientation to severe delusional or psychotic episodes (Perez-de-Albeniz, 2001). Although these cases are rare, they seem to be triggered by the deeply relaxed state which possibly ‘unlocks’ suppressed memories or emotions (Sapolsky, 2003).

More commonly, meditation side effects are positive with reports ranging from overall feelings of well-being, better health, improved relationships and the most treasured side effect of all: peace of mind (Meditation, 2006).

The Practice of Mediation

Meditation usually begins by finding a quiet spot. This can be anywhere but try to find a place that provides at least 15-20 minutes of undisturbed silence. Personally, I find that the more I meditate, the easier it becomes to ignore the occasional disturbance such as passing cars or barking dogs but ideally the quieter the better.

Beginning meditators can start by sitting comfortably with back straight and legs crossed. As one becomes more advanced and flexible, there are yogic postures such as half lotus and full lotus positions as possible alternatives. The benefits of these more advanced postures and straight back are explained as encouraging the ‘spiritual energy’ or Kundalini, also described as the ‘life force’ or prana (Meditation, 2006).

Eyes can be open or closed, but if open one should relax the gaze or focus on a point or object. Breathing should be relaxed and slow. One may wish to repeat a mantra such as “Aum” or simply concentrate on the breath.

Aum and No-Thought Awareness

Focusing the mind on a single thought, mantra or breathe is usually how one eventually moves past the “constant dialogue of the mind”. The monosyllable mantra “Aum” (also Om) is the most sacred syllable and symbol in the Hindu religion. “Essentially, all the cosmos stems from the vibration of the sound ‘Aum’ in Hindu cosmology” (Meditation, 2006)so it is no wonder that this has become the most common mantra to use while meditating; but just about any single syllable word will do. Some people use the word ‘home’ (sounds like Aum), ‘love’, ‘peace’ or just the ‘mmmm’ sound. Bare in mind however, that whichever word or sound is used, it is best to have a positive association with it (e.g. one wouldn’t have a very positive meditation experience if they meditated using the mantra ‘hate’).

Achieving a state of “no-thought-awareness” is available to anyone who possesses a ‘mind’ (Vinod, 2002, p. 29) but is harder than it sounds. If one were to sit in silence even for a few moments and take notice of what internal dialogue was going on in one’s mind, it is easy to see how trying to quiet that dialogue becomes a near impossible task. Dr. Samprasad Vinod author of 9 Secrets of Successful Meditation (2002) suggests that we need not try so hard to free our minds of thought, rather we should just allow those thoughts to stream through as we passively observe them. Eventually the mind gives up and becomes quiet – like a child crying for attention; after a certain amount of time with no response he wears out.

Conclusion: Divine Peace

It is hard to imagine someone who does not wish to experience peace of mind. To be free of worry, frustration, stress and anxiety would, for most, be the ultimate freedom. Meditation, if practiced daily, offers this peace:
“It is only through meditation that we can get lasting peace, divine peace. If we meditate soulfully in the morning and receive peace for only one minute, that one minute of peace will permeate our whole day. And when we have a meditation of the highest order, then we get really abiding peace, light and delight” (Sri Chinmoy, 1989).

Opening up mentally to ‘the divine’, can be thought of as simply being open to the experience. In other words, by taking expectation out of the equation and just letting the meditation experience happen one is in essence opening up to something larger than oneself.

The peace and health benefits derived from meditation are available to anyone at any time regardless of age, ability, faith or conviction. It is merely a deep ‘rest’ for our troubled and seemingly ‘restless’ minds just as sleep is rest for the body; and through this ‘rest’ may we find good health, long life and the most divine peace.

Embedded System Programming

Control and embedded system programming was first used in Apollo guidance computer to guide Apollo. Technological advancement brought the price of embedded system (ICs) lower making it possible to use them for commercial purpose. Today embedded systems are widely used in various devices performing specific functions with drastic improvement in processing power. Embedded system programming has been derived from the word embedded system. An embedded system is nothing but a special purpose system in which the computer is fully encapsulated by the device it controls. Embedded software designs have advanced enough to produce widely used devices performing specific function devices such as ATM, PDA, mobile phones etc.

This widely used technological term in the field of Information Technology, is the combination of computer hardware and software which is either fixed in facility or programmable. In short it is purposely designed for a meticulous kind of application device. Systems that hosts this embedded systems are various industrial machines, automobiles, medical equipment, cameras, household appliances, and airplanes, vending machines, toys, cellular phone and PDA.

Seeing its importance and worth embedded systems programming has gained lot popularity and people are looking for companies providing this service. If you are looking for a company providing embedded systems programming then your search is over as Softage is there for you.

Softage is Russia’s leading IT service provider providing best and advanced embedded systems programming. Referral Strategies - Part 2

Few people have the guts to do this but…

Ask for referrals during the sales process. Even if it’s the first time you are speaking with someone, you can ask for referrals. The one criteria you must satisfy first is, you must give them something of value.

When I worked as a commission only salesperson selling security systems to home owners, we would present an information booklet, take them through an educational process so they understood the realities of crime and what was going on, and then we had a mid-point in the presentation where we wrote on their valuables with our “invisible ink” and gave them a valuables register to record all items in their house.

This was a valued service that could save people $10,000’s in painful insurance hassles or perhaps criminal prosecution of ‘bad guys’ if there stuff was found after a burglary. The point is, it was valuable and it was perceived as valuable to the customer.

At this mid-point, I would ask for referrals and have the wife grab her phone book whilst the guy would show me around the house to write on their valuables.

Our company requirement was to bring back 4 referrals per appointment we went to. I consistently averaged 10-12 referrals per appointment and still hold the company record today of getting 63 referrals from one appointment.

(I no longer work there obviously since Founding Dream Maker and Immortal Entreprenuers)

We used a holiday draw to entice extra referrals which went something like, “For every 4 names you give me I can give you a ticket that could win you 2 nights in Noosa”.

(Noosa is one of the world’s best beachside locations in Queensland Australia)

Sometimes I was more generous with the tickets depending on the quality of the people they might be referring or the amount. I would play with it as “gut feel” spoke to me in each appointment.

The key thing to understand is that ANYTIME is a good time to ask for referrals. This was done in the middle of a presentation where my income was on the line in terms of getting a sale. And it NEVER hindered the sale in any way whatsoever.

In fact, often when I made a sale, I would return to their list and ask, “Now that you know more about what we do, and you believe enough in it to move forward yourself, who on your list of names that you suggested would be most suited to what we offer?”

I called these, “Golden Referrals”.

Without getting too bogged down on ways to make it work, mainly because I want to produce a more in-depth special report dealing with this subject on its own. It’s more important I help you with step 2 which is rewarding people.

The biggest reason why people fail to have systematic referral programsIf rewarding people is missing from your referral system, you will never create a strong stream of referrals. People love to help other people – that’s true!

But in business, customers could often care less whether you grow, stay in business or die!

You need to establish relationships to build loyalty and caring. Once you do this, the people naturally love to help. But until then, it is up to you to nurture and grow the relationship.

Having a systematic way to reward people is critical for a couple of reasons.

  1. They deserve it
  2. People rarely continue to give with nothing in return (that’s our low end of human nature)
  3. You need to keep proportion of gifts and rewards in check or you will lose money instead of make it – you don’t buy someone a car because they sent you a lead!
  4. It costs you less to get a referral and give a gift than almost any other marketing effort

And just on # 4 – some “tight” people think they are doing great business when they get low cost referrals and don’t reward people. They think they have made their best profit margin. And they are right when it comes to that one sale. The short term win will cost you long term with the lack of repeat referral giving – and that is the great loss. Imagine having a core sector of people who consistently gave referrals to you. High quality people that came to you practically sold already on what you do. What is that worth to you?

Seriously, what is it worth? Not philosophically “Ooooh… it’s worth a fortune!” I mean seriously measure it and tell me. If you know the lifetime value of your customers, then you know just how valuable a referral is.

Because once you have referral programs in place, it is not just the core people sending you referrals. This core group grows with every new (low cost) customer you now acquire.

The referral who becomes a customer now becomes another source of referral generation for you. This is called a “viral” effect and it no doubt how famous internet marketer Mark Joyner coined the phrase “Viral Marketing”.

We’ll talk more about viral marketing later, but for now, make sure you internalize the power of having this residual and ongoing source of business. (Read this section a couple of times if you have to)

In Part 3, I will share with you a list of high-powered rewards you can give customers to encourage ongoing referral giving. Plus I’ll describe my favourite one of all and the psychology behind it.

Until then..

Harmful Effects of Deforestation

Human beings always have been and probably always will be to some extent dependent on forests. Trees were their habitat, their environment, their source of food and their protection from enemies. Forests are very important to man, and other organisms, and one of the biggest problems the world is facing today is the threat of totally losing the forests due to massive deforestation and suffering the harmful effects of deforestation.

Deforestation can be defined as the large scale removal of forests. Deforestation occurs when forests are converted to non-forest areas for urbanization, agriculture, and other reasons without sufficient reforestation. It is the permanent destruction of forests and woodlands.

At present, forests are considered among the most endangered on the planet. Everyday at least 80,000 acres of forest vanish from Earth. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations show that the rates of deforestation has not abated and has actually increased by 8.5% from 2000-2005 compared during the 1990s. FAO has approximated that about 10.4 million hectares of tropical forest have been permanently destroyed from 2000-2005 compared to 10.14 million hectares in the period of 1990-2000.

The process of deforestation is often a complex pattern of progressive fragmentation of the forests. Mistakes of this sort could lead to forest destruction. Along with this destruction is the extinction of many species, heavy soil erosion, greenhouse effect, silting of rivers and dams, flooding, landslides, denuded upland, degraded watershed, and even destruction of corals along the coast.

Extinction of Thousands of Species - Destruction of the forests leads to a tragic loss of biodiversity. Millions of plants and animal species are in danger of disappearing as a result of deforestation. Tropical forests are much more biologically diverse than other forest and a very serious effect of deforestation in tropical countries is the loss of biodiversity.

Heavy Soil Erosion - One function of the forest is that its roots hold the soil in place. Without trees soil erosion and landslides easily happen. When heavy rains and typhoons come, soil is easily carried to lower areas especially to communities at the foot of the mountains.

Greenhouse Effect - Deforestation increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The conitnued degradation of our forest heightens the threat of global warming because the trees and other plants that takes up carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to be used for photosynthesis are gone. The burning of wood or its decay contributes to the release of more carbon which combines with oxygen in the atmosphere thus increasing further the levels of carbon dioxide that causes greenhouse effect.

Silting of Rivers and Dams - Deforestation results in the silting of rivers sediments deposit which shortens its life span and clogs irrigation system. As a result of deforestation, the reservoir behind many dams are filled with sediments more rapidly than expected.

Flooding - One major importance of forest is that they absorb water quickly in great amount during heavy rains. But due to massive deforestation there are no trees to absorb the water thus resulting to the loss of many lives.

Landslides - The roots of the trees bind soil to it and to the bedroock underlying it. That is how trees prevent soil from getting eroded by natural agents like wind or water. When trees are uprooted, there will be nothing to hold the soil together thus increasing the risk for landslides which can cause seriously threaten the safety of the people and damage their properties.

Denuded Upland - After several harvests of the forest the cleared land is no longer suitable for planting trees. It has become a desert. The transformation of a forest to a semi-desert condition is called desertification.

Degraded Watershed - When forest mountains are denuded, watersheds are degraded and this leads to the loss of sustained water supplies for lowland communities. This is because trees affect the hydrological cycle. They can change the amount of water in the soil, groundwater, and in the atmosphere.

Destruction of Corals along the Coast - Coral areas are degraded and coral reefs are affected by siltation. As a result of deforestation there is an increase of flooding during the rainy seasons and decreased stream flow in dry seasons.

The forest provides us with many products and important services. It stops soil erosion, refreshes the air, and protect us from typhoons and other calamities. But if rampant deforestation is not controlled it will result to several problems. In one way or another, the denuded forests will back fire and people will certainly lose to the harmful effects of deforestation.

Marketing Your Online Business Ventures by Using Blogs

A Blog is a single web page that can be updated with fresh content on a regular basis. This has an advantage over a traditional web page in that by having constant fresh content the search engine spiders will regularly visit seeking to index that fresh content. Blogger is perhaps one of the most popular blogging sites on the net. It is free and gives you the ability to chose a domain name which ends in .blogspot.com, saving the cost of buying a domain name. Of course being so popular many of the domain names you want for your topic or business have already been taken which means you have to get creative to get a domain name that has some relation to your business or topic.

Blogs are often used as online diaries, or for an ongoing discussion on a topic - like politics or sport. Many people used them to comment on up to date current events, or to post the latest humorous story or video.

A Blog’s main disadvantage is that it is a single page. As such eventually even on a very long blog material will need to be archived. The average web surfer will not go into the archives to retrieve older information. As such a web site is superior to display information and act as a main portal for your online business. However by linking your blog to your main site you can get extra traffic that you would not get from one approach alone.

If you do any marketing online, any venture can be further by creating a linking blog. It is a particularly good place to update the latest news about your business opportunity or a great way to share ideas, successful approaches or motivational material with your down lines. As such if you are involved in any online multi-level marketing or network marketing venture you need a blog.
