Aquatic Plant Problems

If you live near farm land, then you can’t drive over a couple miles without driving by a farm pond of some sort. Whether it is used for drinking water for a herd of cattle, fishing enjoyment, or just for viewing next to a small cabin, Aquatic plants may or may not serve as a problem.

When I think back, a lot of my childhood days were occupied with either a lake, pond, or some sort of swimming pool. Most of the time a day of fishing ended with us taking a dip. If your pond has been taken over with algae, moss, weeds, or any kind of aquatic plant life, it makes it impossible to fish, let alone swim. There’s nothing worse than snagging your lure on a pile of algae, most of the time breaking your line.

Aquatic plants can interfere with many lakes and ponds uses. A wide range of Aquatic plants can be found growing in, on, or around a body of water. Some plants will be found rooted in swiftly flowing streams while others can only survive in placid, stagnant ponds.

Here’s a few facts about aquatic plants…

Like terrestrial plants, aquatic vegetation requires a carbon source, sunlight, and nutrients.

The depth of sunlight penetration will limit the depth to which aquatic plants will grow.

The amount of nutrients available will limit the quantity of vegetation which will grow.

An aquatic plant problem is defined as “undesirable plants that grow so profusely as to crowd out more desirable growth or distract in some way from the usefulness, value, and/or appearance of an area. Therefore, overabundant vegetation that adversely effects aquatic life; impedes industrial, agricultural or domestic water use; interferes with recreational activities and/or destroys economic values, all fall under this definition.

A look at various water-use sites and there specific problems gives some indication of both economic and environmental impact associated with aquatic plant growth. The degree of control desired will be greatly influenced by these water uses.

As nutrient concentrations increase, aquatic vegetation growth can become a serious problem at lakes and ponds. Measures can be taken to ensure that your pond is not overtaken by cattail, weeds, algae, and other aquatic plants.

Portable Stripper Poles - How To Buy A Good Pole

Pole dancing is hot right now.

You may have heard about it on tv or read about a celebrity who pole dances to keep fit. If you’re thinking about getting a pole yourself, you may be stuck. Where can I find portable stripper poles? You can’t just hop in the car and head to Home Depot. This is a specialty item.

Do you sell portable stripper poles here?

Is this really a question you want to go around asking people? Maybe if you live in LA, no one would care. They probably have stripper pole shops in LA. But that’s not where you live. So…what do you do?

Well, first. Let’s talk about portable stripper poles.

You can get a permanent pole; it doesn’t have to be portable. For example, you can have a permanent pole installed in your bedroom. But two points to consider:

1. When you have guests or relatives over, they might ask you about it.

2. When you’re not using it, the pole takes up space in your room.

Now let’s get into portable stripper poles. These are by far the most popular, because of their versatility. You can easily put them up and take them down, and they are just as sturdy as a permanent pole.

Portable poles are height adjustable. This allows you to move the pole from room to room in your home. If you don’t want to dance in your bedroom, you can take it to another room. Even if you have vaulted ceilings in your house, that’s not a problem.

Portable stripper poles DO travel. You can buy a travel bag to carry your pole wherever you go. When you move out of your apartment or buy a new house, you can take it with you.

Wherever you buy your portable stripper pole, make sure they sell strong and sturdy ones. You’ll be doing things like spins, inverts, and climbs. You don’t want the pole falling over while you’re on it. Ouch. After doing a bit of research online, you should be able to tell who makes reputable poles. Go with a trusted name.

Aimee Martinez is the proud owner of a portable stripper pole. She got into pole dancing after seeing it on an episode of Oprah. Visit her site to learn more about portable stripper poles and pole dancing fitness.

Achieve Your Dreams With Planning, Patience, Passion, and Persistence!

Did you make a New Year Resolution? Are you making steady progress, or are you in a rut? Maybe it’s time to take a hard look at what you’ve achieved. Remember January 1, when you made a promise to yourself, and said I Resolve To _______. Maybe you decided it was time to earn a college degree, or learn a new language, start a business, run a marathon, contribute time and effort to a favorite cause, pay off debt, or get fit . . . the possibilities are endless. You decided 2007 is the year you will achieve one of your dreams. If you didn’t take action why not do it today? You can pursue your dreams, resolutions and goals any day of the year!

Consider this simple, common sense I Resolve To Formula: Start with one of your dreams. Turn that dream into a resolution. Make that resolution a reality with goals - small steps, taken one at a time, one day at a time.

Dream + Resolution + Goals = Achievement!

With that simple formula in hand, maybe you’re not sure how to proceed? Not sure what to do first? Consider these Five I Resolve To Steps:

  1. Dare To Dream: Open your mind to the possibility that, YES’, you will achieve your dream if you pursue it passionately, with patience and persistence. ‘YES’ you will achieve your dream if you work hard, learn from your mistakes, and strive to stay positive even when you hit obstacles and bumps in the road.
  2. Decide: Make decision, a firm promise, a solid commitment to pursue your dream, one small step at a time, one day at a time for the rest of the year. Make your dream ‘real’ by transforming it into a ‘RESOLUTION - RESOLVE to ‘take action, achieve, change, do, learn’.
  3. Define: In one simple sentence, clearly, concisely, realistically specify your resolution - what you will achieve in 2007 and where you will end up. Personally, one of my Lifetime Resolutions is to exercise for 30-minutes each day by walking, biking, stretching, swimming, lifting weights, playing tennis, doing Yoga. I add new things to the mix to keep me interested and motivated year after year.
  4. Develop A Plan: Make your resolution reality, first, by doing your homework. Educate yourself, knowledge is power! What are all the steps, tasks, activities that you need to pursue to make your resolution happen. Second, break all those steps, tasks, activities down into small daily goals that you can tackle one at a time. Write everything down! Maintain a Daily Resolution Diary, a journal, notebook, blog - whatever works best for you - where you can add time lines and deadlines to your plan, track your progress in daily/weekly Check-Ins, make course corrections when you’re stuck, and reward yourself when you succeed! Success, after all, breeds success. It’s a key motivator in your journey that builds confidence and self esteem.
  5. Do It Daily: Just ’showing up’ is often half the battle. If you devote 30-minutes each day, or a few hours each week, that effort compounds like interest on money in the bank. It will show results over time. You don’t have to fulfill your dream, keep your resolution, achieve all your goals overnight. You can lower the bar just a little, take the pressure off, take one small step each and every day, for life - A Lifetime Resolution. Why achieve a dream, then move on to the next one? Why not keep your dreams with you for good.

I’m not promising instant success. I’m not suggesting achievement without the benefit of TIME, ENERGY, IDEAS, AND WILLPOWER. Yes, it would be wonderful if we could just ‘think positive thoughts’ all day, and our heart’s desire would magically appear. Visualize a million dollars and your mailbox will fill with checks made payable to you instead of stacks of bills! WOW, that would be great, wouldn’t it?! Go ahead, try it. Wish to win the lottery. Think positive thoughts. Visualize winning the lottery and the check should soon be in the mail based on those self-help theories!!! That’s silly, silly, silly wishful thinking. If you believe that, you’re going to be disappointed. If someone is feeding you that line, they’re trying to sell you snake-oil and line their own pockets with gold, not yours. Anyone who promises ’something for nothing’ is in search of gullible, lazy people to ‘rip off’ - and those people are likely to get ‘nothing’ for the ‘nothing’ they invested.

I truly believe in the power of positive thought, being optimistic, having faith, and hope. Those qualities can point you in the right direction, and they help during the tough times when obstacles impede progress. I assure you, obstacles will get in the way. You will have days when you, your dream, your life will seem like they’ve been hijacked, Overtaken By Events. But, beware of anyone who suggests that you brought these events upon yourself because you weren’t thinking positive thoughts, or you were being negative. Positive thoughts, alone, won’t make wealth appear magically - any more than negative thoughts will make your world crumble around you.

Everyone has some negative thoughts, it’s impossible to be positive and happy every minute of every day. Bad things happen to good, moral, honest, generous, loving, grateful, humble, church-going people every day - and it’s absolutely crazy to suggest they brought troubles on themselves through their own thoughts!! If someone feeds you this nonsense, do yourself a big favor, run the other way as fast as you can.

When you encounter obstacles to your dreams, take a deep breath, study the obstacles, develop a plan of attack, and know things will get better. Don’t blame yourself for the obstacles, even if you’ve made mistakes that created them. Guilt will drag you down instead of propelling you forward. Take responsibility for your actions, admit to yourself that you made mistakes, then use them to your advantage. Some of my most profound successes were born from ‘lessons learned’ after I’d made mistakes. I knew wallowing in guilt would just make me feel bad. I knew I had to move on, get going in a new direction with my dream, my life - or have the courage to admit that maybe it was time to pursue a new dream.

Bottom line, if you truly want to achieve something in your life, you first have to identify ‘what’ you want to achieve, along with the how/when/where/why you’re going to achieve it. Then you have to’act’ with single-minded passion and steely determination. You have to be focused, flexible and willing to revise your plans, change your tactics as you learn and grow.

Believe in yourself and your dream. Have some fun. Consider becoming a Resolutionista - someone who makes and keeps New Year Resolutions and enjoys doing it - someone who revels in the journey! What do you have to lose? You have less to lose by ‘trying’, than if you ‘do nothing at all’! Stop procrastinating. Stop living the ‘Someday, Someday, Someday Syndrome’. Instead Live Your Dream!

Harnessing your Players’ Passion for Gaming in All of your Casino Marketing Efforts!

Harnessing your players’ passion for gaming is something that most casino marketers will agree is the easiest way to increase frequency of play and time at the table/machine. What they can’t agree on is what method is the best. What if it was possible to harness your players passion for the games that they love in a way that could also reward Your Casino with new quality high Theo Players.

When you have a high theo player, some would argue that the best way to reward them is with some type of extravagant gift, or experience that would take them off of the casino property. On the surface this tactic makes sense, because it gives the host some 1 on 1 time to get to know the clients likes and dislikes. There are a couple of problems with the above scenario.

1) When you take someone off property to an event, you take away from the time that they can gamble at your casino.

2) By showing them a great time, they may remember this fondly and even tell some people about it, but they will not be actively engaged in promoting your property

3) While getting quality time with your high theo players is of great importance, remember that the ultimate goal is to earn more revenue for the casino

What can you, as a casino marketer do to ensure that your player development program is as efficient as possible while giving you a better ROI. Why not let your players Bring the Casino Home with a truly targeted player development gift. Everyone talks about targeted gift giving, and targeted player development, but a truly targeted player development gift taps into what Your Player is passionate about. Where better to start then with the very thing that they come to your casino to do, play their favorite casino game.

Finally there is a gift that is perfect for this crowd. A Casino Game of the Month Gift Club. It is the 1st of it’s kind, and since most casino marketers already use monthly gift clubs as player development gifts, this should be a no-brainer. A win-win for both the casino and the player. The player winds up with a branded Home Game set-up as a reward, and the casino winds up being able to do something that has not been possible as of yet….Sponsor Your Players’ Home Game.

Every week when they get together with their friends to play Poker, they along with their friends will be staring at your brand throughout. They say it takes between 4-8 impressions to change the buying habits of someone. Is it worth it to wait a couple of months to add up to 6 new players to your database?

This is what the casino industry needs during this time of growth. By cultivating your players where they are the most comfortable, and allowing them to practice with their buddies, you are building an even stronger bond with your player. The Game of the Month Club allows you to cross-promote other games within your casino that have higher house advantages.

Eric Hansel is the President of Executive Gaming Monthly….The 1st Casino Game of the Month Gift Club, and the coolest gift around. Eric lives in New Jersey with His wife and Son. Quick Fix For Paper Feed Problems On Copiers, Fax And Printers

So you need ten sets of a fifty page document for this mornings meeting. It’s 8:30AM and your meeting is at 9:00AM. You begin with your project and the copier jams. You clear the jam but it keeps jamming! It’s not pulling in the paper. Sure you can call the repair person, but you need the copies now! There’s nothing you can do, or is there?

All office equipment that feeds paper has a component inside that pulls the paper out of the paper tray and into the machine. Most are made out of rubber and just like the tires on your car they wear out. When a roller is worn and dirty they will cause paper jams. The purpose of this article is to show you how you can clean or rejuvenate the rollers long enough for you to complete your job and have your repair person come out and fix it properly.

Alternative solutions
When your machine is jamming, first locate where the paper is jamming. Which paper tray? Is it tray 1 or tray 2? Also which size is jamming? On machines that have more than one paper tray you can switch paper trays and then you can skip cleaning the rollers. Make sure when you change cassettes that the copier registers the correct size. The machine will think it is a different size and it will jam. The sensors are set for a specific timing and it will know the difference in length from letter size and legal size. I also would try using the bypass tray or manual feed tray if so equipped. This will get you up and running quicker than cleaning the rollers.

Determining if the rollers are the problem:
If you need the specific tray to be functional we will get busy with the repair.
First make a single copy in the tray that is jamming. By doing this you are determining where the paper is jamming. If it is jamming in the exit for instance, you have another problem. If it is jamming in the center of the machine, again it is a different problem. But if it jams at the cassette or paper tray area the next step is removing the paper tray. Shine your flashlight into the paper feed area and see if there are any pieces of paper torn off inside or something blocking the paper path. Now that you have ruled out a blocked paper path, you can clean the feed roller(s).

Tools Required:
Flashlight, strong cotton towel (so it will not rip off in the machine), WD-40 or Rubber roller rejuvenator.
Note: Never use alcohol to clean rollers. It dries out the tread and the remaining tread will get ripped off and then it still will not feed. Use WD-40 it works great!

Cleaning the rollers:
Shine your flashlight into the paper feed area and locate the rubber rollers that feed the paper in. Grab your towel and saturate it with cleaning fluid. This can be WD-40 or your favorite roller rejuvenator. Start by cleaning the roller and spinning it all the way around not missing any of the surfaces of the roller. Then go over it again with the dry part of the towel. As I said there are many different types. Some have a set of three rollers. One Pre-feed roller, this pushes the paper into the other rollers. One feed roller and one separation roller. Others have a half moon style. These are harder to clean because they have a clutch system that keeps it at home position when not feeding.

WARNING: If you try and turn these to clean them you will damage the clutch mechanism! There are two ways you can clean these types. First you can actuate the clutch by pushing down on the solenoid or release lever. This sometimes can be hard to get to. You can also start the copy process and shut off the machine exactly when the feed roller engages. This takes some patience and practice but it is better than damaging the clutch. Once you get it where you can clean the roller repeat the procedure above.

Some alternatives to replacing feed rollers:
There is a material called feed roller tape. I have used it when I didn’t have the right roller in my car stock. It works with some styles mainly half moon styles. Just peel off the adhesive and wrap it around the worn roller surface. They also have some that stretch over the old rollers. I have never used this but I have been told it will get you up and running. On old copiers or printers that you can no longer get parts for you can apply clear silicon on the feed surface and let it dry twenty four hours. It works but I am inclined to use the real thing. You can also use generic rollers manufactured for almost all equipment. I have mixed feeling about these because I have had to go back and change them again later. For the best repair I use genuine OEM feed rollers. They are still inexpensive and they will last you longer and you will have fewer headaches.

Feed Rollers
There are many types of rollers and feed systems. Here are some common feed rollers with their part numbers. Rollers will normally come in a maintenance kit but they may need to be replaced approximately half way through the maintenance kit cycle.

HP LJ-4000 laser printer
Feed Rollers
RG5-2651-000CN x 2
Note: These are very easily replaced. Just unsnap them and replace them with the new roller.

Toshiba E-Studio 350/450 Photocopier
Paper Feed Rollers
44201807000 x2, 4400669910
Note: These take a little more work. First you need to remove the paper feed assembly and then you can get to the clips that hold them on.

I hope this has helped you complete your print or copy job. Please remember that this article is just a quick fix and not a long term solution. Be sure and call your repair person to fix it correctly.

Upside Down Economy - Public Workers Taking Over Unions as Production Workers Fade Away

Even when unions were arrogant over twenty years ago, the average non union worker was better off. The private sector production workers are now just a small part of the total union population.

The Teamsters and service workers’ withdrawal from the AFL-CIO is truly a historical happening. The United States has gone through the most massive dislocation of jobs in history, while workers were told it was a good thing. Our federal government seeded the moving of factories outside this country starting in 1956, while the AFL-CIO kept supporting people like President Bill Clinton and Sen. John Kerry, who led the way in passing of the unfair NAFTA and GATT trade agreement that betrayed workers. The American Workers won World War 2 but over fifty years later the American Workers have lost it with millions of workers losing their jobs.

Finally the story is being told. While the AFL-CIO was considered to be the union of Steel-workers and other production workers, the membership of these groups dwindled to only 15 percent of the total union population, with the public-sector workers making up close to 50 percent.

Public workers never should have been part of the AFL-CIO. They are paid my the taxpayers. The taxpayers are their employer.

AFL-CIO President John Sweeney came from the service and retail unions and was never in sync with the production workers. He led the way in making contribution to politicians, tools of change that never worked. He was in denial about millions losing their jobs due to Free Trade and Globalization. Perhaps, he was looking at a worldwide drive for union membership. This is only conjecture but one has to wonder why he supported those who led the way for Free Trade which devastated the union membership in the USA.

With this defection of the Teamsters and services union members, workers get a chance to regain their identities. If you are going to blame the unions for our economic problems, you unfortunately have to point your finger at teachers, police, fire workers and other public servants who in many cases now make twice as much as the people they serve. However, Free Trade will soon reach their front door too. Contract workers stand ready to take these jobs for lower pay with no pensions.

Workplace Predators

Polar bears are known for fierceness and lack of natural predators, although wolves and walruses can kill them. Feeding primarily on seals, the hungry bear featured in a recent episode of Planet Earth, happened on larger prey. Outweighed by the Atlantic walruses, with tusks that can reach three feet long, the Polar bear sought to nuzzle, push and pry his way past a mother to her calf, despite added protection from the walrus group.

Repeatedly, the bear bit the neck and body of the walrus. But grayish-brown skin, up to two inches thick, protected her from the Polar bear’s honed claws and teeth. In the end, the bear lost more than that battle. Alone, exhausted and unable to kill any of the hundred or more clustered walruses nearby, he ultimately starved.

This interaction of the bear and the walrus reminded me of workplace predators. You know the ones. Coworkers who knock others down for sport, trivializing successes, throwing stones at accomplishments, and ridiculing initiative as brown-nosing.

Coworker predators celebrate your missteps and failures, offering public jabs as a way to ward off contenders. Their caustic teeth of jealously, and jagged claws of success-envy, can painfully hit their mark in a forum fraught with public scrutiny. Their messages can derail projects, reputations and careers. They tear down others as a way of building themselves up, trading potential substance and significance for sarcasm and snide remarks.

I’ve encountered my share of workplace predators, attacking, biting, and clawing others to hinder success. They deliver reasons you won’t, can’t or shouldn’t try something, and their negative predictions cast doubt shadows.

Early in my career, I was cowered by the seeming strength of workplace predators, retreating into more neutral positions or second-guessing my thinking. The thinness of my confidence skin, soft and vulnerable, was an easy target for them. Their attacks made me question my abilities, direction, and contributions, at times feeling like they might even succeed in breaking my spirit or pushing me from the environment.

But I finally realized their attacks came as a result of my competence, success, and achievement. As my confidence grew, so did thicker skin, and it became easier to withstand their attacks.

Workplace predators are not winning at working, since people who are never tear down or attack others, even if their livelihood depends on it. Instead, people who are winning at working are like walruses, developing their protective thick skin in a group oriented approach. They do that through teamwork, results, quality and self-esteem, growing denser skin with each success, achievement, and accomplishment.

Unfortunately, here’s the reality - when you’re winning at working, you’re going to have to deal with workplace predators. So, get yourself ready. Develop behaviors that repel and weaken their antics. Grow the thickest skin possible by your consistent performance, trust, integrity, and achievement. Cement your strength with persistence, determination and passion.

Then, when they strike, practice Thomas Jefferson’s words, “Nothing gives one person so much advantage over another as to remain cool and unruffled under all circumstances.” Remember, unruffled walruses starve bears.

How to Love Your Laundry Room

Have your ever thought about how many hours you spend in your laundry room if you added them up at the end of each week? If you’re like me there are very few days that go by without doing at least one load of laundry. This being the case, it makes perfect sense to decorate your laundry room in a style or theme that pleases you and helps the chore of doing laundry a little more enjoyable.

What makes you happy and pleases your eyes? Is it the beach, antiques, art work, the color red? Whatever it is, just remember that you don’t have to decorate your laundry room in the same style or theme as the rest of your house. The first step to decorating your laundry room is to pick a theme. Whether it be a tropical them or a vintage them, carry it out through your entire laundry room.

For example, I decorated my laundry room in a vintage theme. On my neutral colored walls, I placed a collection of vintage washboards on one wall and a faux antique piece of artwork on another wall. I also added a few authentic old irons on a shelf mixed in with vintage detergent boxes. To continue my vintage theme, I added an antique looking wallpaper border close to the ceiling with old looking irons and washboards on it. To give the room a cheerful look, I added a collection of weathered baskets and greenery on the top of the cabinetry above the washer and dryer. I placed coordinating throw rugs on the tiled floor to cushion and comfort my feet while I’m doing laundry. Finally, I added the perfect window treatment to let just the right amount of light in and make my laundry room look complete.

If you choose not to use a decorating theme in your laundry room, you can easily liven up the room with colorful paint on the walls, updated or painted cabinets, artwork, flowers, and upgraded flooring. Be sure the flooring is forgiving of spills. Vinyl flooring, laminate flooring, and ceramic tile are a good choice.

If you decide to paint the walls in your laundry room you may want to paint only one wall leaving the other walls neutral in color. Deeply hued paint colors will reflect on the clothes making it difficult to see stains. If your laundry room has fluorescent lighting, which has a blue cast, neutral colors with yellow undertones can help combat the blue.

Perhaps the best way to love your laundry room is to organize it so that you know where all of the detergents and stain removers are. The following tips can help you organize your laundry room.

* If your laundry room has counter space, keep it uncluttered so that you can use it for folding clothes. If you don’t have a counter in your laundry room, purchase a small melamine table which is stain resistant and water resistant to provide you with a space to sort and fold your laundry.

* Store detergents, stain removers, sponges, and other laundry room supplies in a cabinet or on a shelf above the washing machine. You might also want to install additional shelves or premade cabinets in your laundry room for additional storage.

* Opt for an ironing board that can be mounted on the wall or an over-the-door style. The over-the-door style requires no installation and hangs over the door frame, drops down when you need to use it, and snaps back in place when you are done.

* If space is an issue, consider installing a retractable clothesline for air drying clothes. This type of clothesline is convenient, affordable and easy to install.

* Purchase a laundry hamper on wheels so that you can move it out of the way when necessary.

* Consider hanging laundry bags that will help you to presort laundry on a daily basis. This setup requires no floor space so it is ideal for a small laundry room.

Decorating your laundry room in a style that pleases you may in fact change your attitude about doing laundry. Since laundry is a daily chore for most of us, we might as well try and make the best of it with a great laundry room!

Turn Your Bedroom into a Peaceful Retreat

Your bedroom should be a stylish and peaceful room to help you relax and recharge. It should be the ultimate escape to help you unwind from the stresses of the day.

The key to creating a great bedroom is to think about what items makes you the happiest and produces the greatest sense of tranquility and peace. Is it chenille fabrics, scented candles, fluffy pillows, or romantic window treatments? Whatever it is, your bedroom is your space and should be decorated accordingly.

The largest piece of furniture in your room should be a comfortable bed. Next, select nightstands that are proper height for reaching from the bed. For your TV, consider purchasing a beautiful piece of furniture like an armoire to house and perhaps hide the unit and related components. If your bedroom has adequate space for a seating area, select a comfy chair and ottoman or a chaise lounge that will entice you to curl up, relax, and read a good book.

Here are a few more tips to help you get started creating your peaceful retreat:

* Add luxurious linens to your bed in a color that soothes your soul. Gold tones such as camel, honey and butterscotch are considered warm colors. Lavenders, blues and a few shades of green are considered to more cool and comforting. Material quality and style are equally important as the color in selecting linens for your bed.

Select bed sheets with a minimum thread count of 200 or 300-400 for luxury quality. Thread count is the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. The higher the thread count, the smoother and softer the sheets will be.

* If your bedroom has hardwood floors, lay a plush area rug down to comfort and cushion your feet.

* Place fluffy pillows in assorted sizes, styles, and textures on your bed for an inviting feel.

* In cooler months, throw a soft and cozy chenille blanket on your bed in a warm color that compliments your room’s decor. In the warmer months, use a cotton matelasse coverlet in linen or ivory colors.

* If you have a smaller bedroom, place a large hanging mirror over a dresser to help the room appear larger. Mirrors help to create an intimate atmosphere by reflecting light.

* Change the lampshade on your lamps to a soothing color such as gold or in a soft color that coordinates with your room.

* Declutter your nightstand. Decorate your nightstand with a romantic lamp, a small vase of flowers, a calming scented lavender candle, and perhaps a picture or two. Place all books and magazines in the drawers of the nightstand or in a decorative basket beside the bed.

*If you need additional storage for quilts and other bulky items, purchase an affordable wicker trunk and place it at the foot of the bed or another appropriate spot.

* To invite the outdoors in, display a live potted plant such as an Asparagus Fern or a Wandering Jew on a decorative plant stand near a window. If a live plant is not practical, opt for a silk plant or two, which are widely available on the internet and/or in craft and decorating stores.

Last but not least, consider adding a new color of paint to your room to enhance your bedroom’s decor. You can paint an accent wall for a focal point and even paint a faux fireplace to lend added charm. Consider painting doors and molding a contrasting color to the wall paint for a vibrant look.

Do I REALLY Need That New Car? I Have Been Told That, But is It REALLY True?

When you’re trying to find that perfect car, it is easy to fall prey to smooth talking salesman, we have all experienced the Shark and Minnow type feeling, getting smooth talked while having that bad feeling on the inside. It happens everywhere in each state, in each city, generally multiple times. But why is this? We all need a car, but why is the sales model so crappy to be blunt. Where does the root lie? And it is a lie.

It all starts with a need, or what we think we need. But where does this need come from? As you guess it, I have the answer, status. In America, we are bombarded with constant advertisements of the American dream with the pretty wife and the fit husband and the better than average behaving kid. We see these things and immediately we reference our life thermometer and it just doesn’t seem to match up, almost no ones does. But we want this, we want this dream that has been sold to us, or at least we think we want it, and if we don’t want it, our peers want it and they talk about it and then the need nestles itself into our heart and mind, thus creating a drive for better things. It’s called the Jones’ we must keep up with them, but why? We have been told so, therefore it must be true.

Car salesmen and car companies feed on this imaginary but very real desire and create pristine car commercials with appealing ads that are entertaining to watch. They show pictures of people feeling relieved, happy, satisfied and other good emotions that we crave on a daily basis. But the truth is, happiness is being debt free, not getting into more debt buying a car we don’t need and a payment we cannot afford. I wish sometimes the car commercials would show someone not being able to afford a car payment or repossession, but that is just the Pollyanna in me that would want to create a perfect world.

So now we have a person who cannot afford a car, sitting in it, thinking “This is it!” I have arrived, and nine times out of ten it is only a feeling that has been accepted in society for us to feel. The realism then sets in when they get the car payments that can be outrageous. The sad part is that most of the lower model cars, such a Cavaliers are sold more than any car on the market, they are “affordable” to whose income is under 40,000 per year. I should know, I almost bought one! This article is not intended to be a downer, but more of a wake up call for one to analyze the actually need or want when buying a new car.
