Barbeque Safety Tips

When considering barbeque safety, there are several things to consider.

1. The Location Of The Grill

Be careful to choose a spot that is away from trees, brush and other overhanging structures. Imagine a flare up. Will your roof catch fire? Locate the grill well away from all flammables.

Choose a spot that is away from the main traffic flow patterns. You do not want the football game to accidently back up into your grill. Ruining your dinner and possibly burning someone or something. It would also be a good idea to be located near a garden hose.

2. Using Proper Utensils

Grill safety includes using the proper utensils to avoid burning. The barbeque utensils that you see in stores are longer than kitchen tools for a reason. You want to be able to reach into the fire, if needed, without getting burned. You will be safe if you use the proper utensils.

3. Dress Properly For The Grill

This seems a bit crazy, but it is important. You need to be sure that you are not wearing anything that is too loose or that might somehow find its way into the fire. Also, I recommend closed toe shoes. I know you wouldn’t drop any of that precious barbeque, but just to be safe. . .

4. Follow Proper Lighting Procedures

Follow your manufacturers instructions for lighting your grill. Never pour lighter fluid or other flammables onto a lit grill, even if it appears not to have caught. I know you’ve heard this before, but confess — I bet you’ve tried it. It is definitely not safe, so don’t do it again!

I hope that these tips will be helpful to you. Enjoy a safe and tasty barbequing season.

Potty Training - You Can teach Your Dog New Tricks

You must have heard the saying, “You cannot teach an old dog new tricks!” All pet owners will agree with this saying more or less. However, if your adult dog is still not potty trained and keeps on doing it the wrong place, do not lose hope. With a little patience and love towards your pet, you can effectively potty train your adult dog as well. Just remember, it is never too late to teach your pet to do the right thing. Having a pet dog can be full of excitement and fun. However, one of the major worries of pet owners is the issue of potty training their pets. Potty training is a vital task. If it is not done properly, it can result in spoilt furnishings, rugs and even your bed. Add to it the foul smell that will linger all over your home. All this can be quite frustrating for the pet owners. Hence, the best way to avoid such annoying situation is by potty training your dog effectively.

One commonly used method to toilet train your dog is by restricting his movement around the house. You may consider using crates or leash to do so. Using a dog crate or a leash will give your pet limited space to move around, and the dog will start considering it as his personal space. High chances are that your pet will not pee and poop in such area and will try to control his urge unless you take him out of his personal space.

Use pre-treated paper or pad. Dip a small part of the paper into your pet’s urine and place the paper at the exact location, where you want your dog to pee and poop. As you know that dog have very strong smelling powers, they will sniff their way towards the “poop place”. So every time your pet feels the urge to relieve him, he will be guided towards the appropriate place.

You will need to give your dog some time to learn, while being patient. Eventually, your pet will recognise his own “poop place” and learn to relieve himself at the right spot, every time! The time taken by different dogs to complete their potty training successfully may vary. Training a dog may be a cumbersome and frustrating at times. Another alternative is to send your pet to an obedience school to be trained by an expert trainer. However, training the pet all by yourself is a journey filled with many ups and downs, which will help you get closer and build a better relationship with your pet. Just remember, time and patience are the keys to success!

Scam or Goldmine? Beating Adwords eBook Review

What hasn’t been said about Kyle & Carson, also known as “The Wealthy Affiliates”? At the age of 22, they’ve single handedly built an empire that cashes in $60,000 a month. Now at 25, there’s no sign of them slowing down…

You might have heard about their eBook “Beating Adwords”, but have you wondered whether they’re good for their promises or just trying to make some cash off a scam? I’ll address that issue in a bit, but first let’s see what the Beating Adwords eBook is about, who it’s meant for and weather it’s a good way to spend your hard earned money.

Beating Adwords is a eBook with detailed instructions on how to become an Internet Marketer. It is not a “Get Rich Quick” program, nor will you make one cent if you read it but don’t implement what you’ve learned. It is, however, a no-nonsense, practical guide that will show you how to outperform your competition, give you Step by Step instructions to help you get started, and uncover advanced Techniques for Testing and Analyzing Campaigns among other things.

So is Beating Adwords a scam? This is a matter of opinion, and I truly believe that it is not. Kyle & Carson don’t promise a single thing they don’t deliver, and that’s what’s admirable about these guys: They’re trustworthy. They don’t promise you get rich easily, quickly and without working, but claim that implementing their strategies and techniques will make you money as it did for them. Also, its continuing success is another testament to the quality of Beating Adwords.

This brings me to the next topic: Who is Beating Adwords for? Well, initially, it was meant for beginning marketers. Over time, it has developed to become a resource that has something to offer marketers of all levels. Travis Sago, also one of the most successful Internet Marketers today, writes about this book: “I consider myself an advanced Google Adwords user and I am truly impressed with Beating Adwords”.

I’ll conclude with the answer to my last question: Is it a good way to spend your money? That depends. If you’re serious about Internet Marketing, and plan to study the book and implement it, then it’s worth every penny. However, if you’re looking for bed-time reading, perhaps you should get a Dan Brown Novel - I hear they’re pretty good. Whichever one you choose, I wish you good luck with Internet Marketing. And remember - the most important things you need to succeed are determination and perhaps a bit of advice now and then!

Looking to Beat Adwords and Make A Great Living Online? Find out how.

Stake Your Claim

A few short years ago the power of the Internet was unimaginable. Now it penetrates every corner of our economy. It is the quintessential selling arena for any type of merchandise or service. It makes the process of buying and selling to your market easier, less expensive, more effective, and more profitable. Most are now familiar with the process, but few understand its potential for sweeping change.

Consider the facts about these companies rebuilding their business models:

78% of small businesses now use the Internet regularly, spending more than $43 billion in online purchases in 2006, Jupiter Research says in a recent report. “Business-to-business transactions are also contributing mightily to Internet growth.

Federated Department Stores Inc. reports that it will spend $100 million this year and next to support growth in its direct-to-consumer businesses, including Macys.com, Bloomingdales.com, Bloomingdale`s By Mail, MacysWeddingChannel.com and BloomingdalesWeddingChannel.com. The amount is part of Federated`s capital spending plans of $1.2 billion in 2007 and $1.1 billion in 2008.
“Our online sales continue to grow at a rapid pace as the national expansion of Macy`s and Bloomingdale`s attracts new customers to our stores, web sites and catalog,” says Terry J. Lundgren, Federated`s chairman, president and CEO. CNN.com

The 2006 fiscal year was a tough one for Circuit City Stores Inc. capped by the announcement that the chain retailer will lay off as many as 3,500 higher paid associates. But the web is a bright spot–Circuit City says web sales in fiscal 2006 reached $1 billion and it expects e-commerce to grow by 35% in the same year. Circuit City.com

The web is now the main direct sales channel for Foot Locker Inc. In 2006, the retailer posted web sales of $270 million, an increase of 11.1% from web sales of $243 million in 2005. Footlocker.com

Perfume.com’s parent Communicate.com Inc. reported record e-commerce revenue of $7.4 million for the year ending Dec. 31, 2006, an increase of 55% from the prior year. Perfume.com

Ecommerce is the new way business is being done. Those who have embraced the technology are finding new rivers of income, less stress, and a bright future. Those that haven’t are struggling to survive.

The tools are there. Pick them up and use them. Your future depends on it.

Toilet Training Your Dog

Potty training your pet can be an easy job if done with the right amount of dedication and patience. A total commitment will be needed from your side to succeed in teaching your dog the appropriate place to pee and poop. Similarly, you need to bear in mind that your pet may take a long time to learn things. So, you will need to be patient and tolerant in case of your pet’s accidents and mistakes.

One method to potty train your dog is to set up a routine of going for walks - morning and evening. Encourage your dog to urinate and defecate during such walks. You will also have to show your dog the appropriate place to do pee and poop. If not, you may end up receiving complaints from your neighbours or end up messing your own garden. Do not forget to praise your pet, when he urinates at the designated place. Words of encouragement will go a long way in potty training your dog. At the same time, a mild punishment is also necessary, when your pet makes an error. However, do not hit your pet, a few angry words should do the trick. Your dog may experience nervousness too, as you potty train him.

Another secret of successfully training your pet dog is to praise him whenever he does the right thing. At the same time, you need to remember that occasional accidents will occur. You will have be tolerant enough at such times and ensure that you do not shout back at your dog. Physical forms of punishment also needs to be avoided at any cost. All you need to do is communicate in a firm yet friendly manner with your dog. Sooner or later, your pet dog will certainly understand and always pee and poop at the appropriate place. Repeating the process time and again will help your dog understand the right way and place to eliminate his body wastes. Positive reinforcement will certainly result in effective potty training of your dog and leave your house stink - free!

Christianity Meets Technology - Make Christian Bumper Stickers

Spreading the word to be a Christian and to do good will is easy to do when people want to listen. It’s easy to tell people who want to do good how to do “Good”. It’s even easier to tell people who actually come to services. What’s difficult is to spread the Word to people who you do not see or who do not know what they want. Years ago, the best way to recruit people to the church or to simply spread the Word was pretty much a word of mouth or a grassroots campaign that required people to go door to door. Now, with technology there are so many other great ways to do it. First of all, websites that contain relevant information as well as a sign up for an email newsletter can be a great way. The website can give information about the church, services, bible stories and kids’ pages. Periodic emails can go out to the mailing list and give them short stories, suggestions, or other information.

For a group or organization that has the time and resources to build up a website as well as get it onto the search engines this would be a great choice. Another option using technology would be web casts of sermons and church services for people who cannot get to church for whatever reason. These can be set up on a website and people can access whatever topic they want when they want to hear it. The one limit with this is that people who aren’t looking for it won’t find it or want to listen to it. Television commercials can spread the Word as well as give information about doing good will and can be especially powerful if they use celebrities.

The problem with them is that the expense can be debilitating. To get information out there even more subtly to let people know that they can follow the Golden Rule, live a Christian life or even just be kinder to others around them it takes a little more creativity. One way to do this is to make Christian bumper stickers that send the message. They are easy to make and even easier to use. “Your Bumper Sticker Maker” (www.custombumperstickermaker.com) is an easy-to-use computer program that allows users to design and print bumper stickers. With “Your Bumper Sticker Maker” you can make as little as one bumper sticker to as many as you want and put them on your car or give them to others. People drive, they see other cars, they read the bumper stickers. Whether they are looking for it or not, they will see the messages you’re trying to send.

There Are Many Reasons For Owning An Ipod - Types, Kind, And Batteries Make The Difference

There are many reasons for owning an iPod. Depending on which iPod you own, how much it can contain and its battery life determines what you can do with it.

Many people want just music as they jog along the trails either in the city or in the open country air. At our Sports Center, the clientele are doing their thing on the jogging machines listening to all the jazz music. You can find that the faster the music you listen to, the more energy you can put forth in working on your exerciser.

Or maybe you can be one of those enterprising individuals who can, pat his head and circle his stomach, so to speak. By that I am referring to people who can listen to music and still work at his desk or computer.

The different size of the MP/3 or MP/4 player can determine how much music you can store and how long the battery life is when you play it.

Let us take the Video iPod with an MP3/Video Player. You are an individual who has a long train ride or a bus ride to work and back each day. You can load your video iPod up in the morning while you are eating your breakfast, and then watch the video as you are riding on your way to work. Or for that matter, load your Video iPod up at lunch and then watch it on the way home.

This can be a nice way to relieve the tensions of the day and set your mind in other directions. It also will help to have a change of pace before you open the door at night and are greeted by the family, the dog or the family cat, and definitely by a caring wife.

Many different articles can go with an iPod and you can become well versed with reading about each of them.

Tools to Help While You Work on Behavior Problems

Raising a new puppy or trying to retrain your dog to correct a bad habit can be very frustrating to say the least,

The intent of this article is not to give you a step by step set of instructions on how to train your dog, but to give you some ideas of common items you can use while you are in the process and possibly help your nerves.

There are many good books, trainers and obedience classes available to help you with the actual training part.

The prime requirements for training a dog are patience, patience and more patience.

However, with a little bit of ingenuity, some common pet tools and determination and some patience on your part, it can be done.

Training your puppy or retraining your older dog needs a positive approach for you to be successful.

Do not expect to accomplish the job in a matter of days, some things may even take a lifetime of positive reinforcement.

With dogs, praise, treats and a positive attitude will bring much better results than scolding or hitting ever could.

Yelling or hitting your pet will only instill fear of you in the dog and will not accomplish the goal of having a well-behaved family pet.

If you have a puppy or dog that has not proven itself to be trustworthy enough to be left in the house alone, a crate or exercise pen is a great addition to have.

A puppy or young dog left alone in the house has the opportunity to learn that chewing furniture legs or other things in the household is fun.

If you keep your puppy or young dog crated or penned up when you cannot supervise them, and you correct them, when you are home for improper behavior, chances are you will not have a chewing problem, except for chew toys.

This does not mean the dog should be crated until it is an old dog.

Most dogs after the age of one year or so can be trusted to behave unsupervised in the house.

It is suggested that you do trial runs of short periods of time, before you leave the dog alone for long periods of time.

Also a good run or long walk before you leave will tire out the dog and a tired dog is a good dog (most of the time.)

Using the crate is a good thing as long as “you” don’t abuse the use.

Do not expect a puppy to be able to hold its urine or poop for long periods of time. By taking the age of your puppy and adding an hour you can pretty much determine how long it can wait (2 month old dog plus 1 hour gives you about a 3 hour range.)

Adult dogs should never be left in a crate more than 8 to 9 hours maximum.

Do not use a crate if you dog has separation anxiety. Do not use a crate if you are going to be gone longer than the dog can hold its elimination or if your dog has a medical problem such as diarrhea.
Dogs need to be part of the family, dogs need to be socialized, so please do not use the crate or pen as a place for the dog to live for long periods of time.

If you are using an exercise pen as you would a crate and the pen is outside, make certain your dog has shelter from the weather. Shade from the sun is important, as is shelter from rain or snow.

Keep the outside pen clean and make certain the dog has water available.

Again do not use the pen in place of real exercise or time to socialize with the family.

A leash is a great tool to use when training your dog. You can attach a leash to your belt while in the house and keep the dog under your supervision at all times.

If your dog is fairly well behaved in your presence, you can use the leash as a tether and secure it in the room where you are staying.

Do not let the dog chew the leash.

A leash or tether is a good tool to use, when you are trying to teach your dog good manners (not to beg at the table) and/or to prevent inappropriate behavior.

Use a tether only when you are present to supervise the dog. Leaving a dog alone while tethered could cause injury to the dog, if it tries lunging to get away or knocks something over that it is attached to.

Baby gates and doors are another asset, when trying to prevent inappropriate behavior or to keep the dog out of certain areas.
A baby gate is great if you dog tends to be under foot while you are preparing dinner in the kitchen or is a “counter surfer” looking for free food.

The gate will let the dog see you, but prevent its entry.

Again, the use of gates or doors should be used as a deterrent and not for use if you dog is not trustworthy being on the other side.

Dogs with separation anxiety are liable to scratch or chew on the doors and try to either jump over or break down the gates.

Boxes, upside down chairs and lids are great access restriction tools. If you have a dog that just loves to get into or on things, these are tools you can use when you are not around to supervise.

Lids on garbage cans in the house, very necessary, the children’s toy box should have a lid and/or latch, too.

The family should be trained to put the toilet bowel lid down or shut the bathroom door after use. Many a dog has been poisoned from drinking out of a toilet with a cleaner substance in it

Laundry hampers should have lids or be put behind a closed door to prevent underwear snatching.

Empty boxes or chairs that can easily be put on couches or other chairs, to prevent the dog from sleeping on them. Some boxes or chairs can be used to build barriers around things you cannot keep the dog away from, when you are gone.

Do not use objects as barriers that could possibly fall and hurt the dog.

If your dog is prone to nipping at people, a muzzle is a good tool. The market now is selling attractive and comfortable muzzles for all types of dogs.

A socialized dog generally is not a nipper or biter, that is why your puppy and/or dog needs to be taken out to see the world.

If a dog is accustomed to all types of people, other animals and different social occasions, it will generally will not feel threatened and have the need to bite in what it considers self-defense.

However, there are times when a muzzle is necessary and you should early on, (during the training period) get your dog used to wearing one, if only for a few minutes at a time. Should your dog get injured and require treatment, a muzzle is a good tool to have.

A muzzle should only be used when your dog is in a difficult situation.

There may come a time when you have moved into a home where another dog has lived or a situation has happened in your home that has upset the dog and it is creating elimination problems. This is when a crate, leash, gate or door can help to manage inappropriate elimination problems, but they may not be enough.

It might be necessary to use belly-bands for male dogs and diapers for female dogs, while you are going through the re-training procedure. These may sound silly, but it allows the dog to continue to be a part of the family, while restricting accidents.

Dogs really do not like to soil themselves.
This does not mean you can put a belly-band or diaper on a dog and expect it to go for hours and hours without having to eliminate. It is a means to help the dog refrain from eliminating, while you are in the process of re-training.

One of the first thing you should do if your dog suddenly starts having accidents in the house, is take your pet to the vet.

A urinary tract infection or some other problem could be the culprit.

The major goal in a dog’s life is to please its master. Whether you believe it or not, your dog loves you and wants to do all the things that are proper and good.

The responsibility you have, is to give your dog the proper guidance and training.

Dogs do not come with on and off switches and they do not know right from wrong, unless you teach them.

Do not expect that screaming, yelling or beating is going to correct a misbehavior or bad habit.

Take a minute to think of your reaction to such treatment.

Then think of a time when someone (your mom, dad or even a teacher) took you by the hand and gently showed you the error of your ways.

You felt good and you remembered that experience and did not repeat the misdeed.

Dogs feel the same way.

Kindness like honey will catch more flies than vinegar.
Love is a two way street.

Correcting a bad habit or training a new arrival to your home requires patience. The top priority in either case is a positive attitude when dealing with a puppy or older dog. Keep your mind on the good things your pet is doing and work with patience and kindness to improve the things you want changed. “Make It Rain-Grim Reaper Artwork and a Fairies Illustrations”

I hear the ground

those before me
I am humbled.
I hear their voices
they speak of lost days
grim reaper artwork
so why
do I…
lose them?

I want to feel passion
I want to make it rain
yet I am almost sick of the word.
it is not enough
words not met by deeds.
Pictures cut out from magazines
pasted on the floor

I want to walk in their gardens.

I stroke my own hair
hear me breathing
I am not sure it is really me
and yet
I am a fantasy fairy in a snow filled jar.
A bench sits in the middle of the ocean
my brush is filled with aqua.
I remove tight fitting muzzles
lest bright colors fly away.
I always seem to miss the signs
and yet
I will try to spy them now
lest I die.
One cannot control adventures
nor define them
a fairies illustrations
but I will try none the less.

I count the days
grim reaper
but I am not sure why
maybe because
I count my paintings.

I hear the breaths of tombs.
They did not know their shadow
before their passing.
And ohhh…
I hear their complaints
making rain
I guess I am one.
I sing in harmony.
How many failures can one accept
and still be noticed?

Let me climb from this jar
let me taste the stamen of a flower
touch my tongue on a tiny miracle
stave off honey bees
stand firm
this story is meant for me.

Pleasantries are gone in winter
it feels too cold for smiles.
I will seclude myself
till the snow is past
and no longer floating free
in unopened jars full of water
filled to the brim with wishes
for fantasy fairies like me.

I am a tear
yet I have added a second blanket
and should be fine.

Voices
everywhere
I stop
I hear…
grim reaper illustrations
calling out for drops of water.
And ever so timely
bringing umbrellas to cover
voices from the ground.

Follow up Betting in Texas Hold’em - What Is it And Why do Need to Do It?

Okay.
So your at a tournament and you are dealt Ace Queen.

You are close to late position and you decide to throw in a raise. You make it 4 times the big blind, which happens to be 400 chips.

One person calls you.

Let’s say the flop comes 229

Now. You are FIRST to act.

What do you do?? Should you check and hope your opponent checks for a free card?

NO! You have to bet! First of all, unless he has a pocket pair you have him beat at this point in the pot.

I recommend that you bet half the pot, which would amount to around 450 chips.

This signals to your opponent that you are STRONG and he cannot take this pot from you.

Weakness in Hold’em is not a good trait to exhibit. Any type of weakness in betting or simply checking is how your opponent will rake pots away from you.

Now, lets say you bet half the pot and you are re-raised. What should you do at this point? It depends on a number of factors including:

How your opponent has been playing
The size of your chip stack
What stage of the tournament you are in
The size of your opponents chip stack
The number of outs you have

There are so many factors in tournament Hold’em that you always have to be factoring before you make a decision.

Texas Hold’em takes a couple minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master.

Until next time, good luck at the tables!!
