All About Tea

Tea, the wonderful beverage we indulge in when we want to relax, wake up, cure a tummy ache, soothe an upset child and infuse our systems with anti oxidants has enjoyed a rich, colorful and diverse history - a very, very long history that began more than 5,000 years ago in China. Legend has that an early emperor, Shen Nung was also a highly skilled ruler and a rather creative scientist. He was far ahead of his time in many respects, including insisting that all drinking water be boiled for hygienic purposes. The legend goes that he was traveling to far away region one summer day and he and his court stopped rest. The obedient servants began to boil the water, per the emperor’s ruling. As they boiled the water, however, some dried leaves from a bush that was nearby fell into the water. As the water boiled with the leaves, a brown liquid began to infuse the water. The Emperor, ever the scientist, was intrigued with the new, brown liquid and drank some. He found the new drink to be quite refreshing, thus tea was born. It should be noted that though this is largely regarded as a myth, many mythologists find that the story is so practical that it likely is very closely related to actual events.

The Asian Inspiration
Tea was a very popular beverage throughout China and every single aspect of their society embraced it and drew it into their culture. The first book written on tea, the Ch’a Ching, was written by Lu Yu in 800 A.D. His work on tea and how it is used in various cultures propelled him to a state that was almost a sainthood in his own lifetime. In fact, the form of tea service that he portrayed in his book, that showed strong ties in Zen Buddhism, is what the Zen Buddhist missionaries later introduced to Japan.

Buddhist priest, Yeisei, brought the very first tea seeds to Japan. He had witnessed the valuable role that the tea in China had played in enhancing religious mediation. Yeisei is know as the “Father of Tea” in Japan because of his introduction of tea to the Japanese culture which quickly elevated tea to an art form. The Japanese Tea Ceremony, a complex yet beautiful art that requires years of training and practice. From there, tea houses were created and tea gained in popularity as the original Zen roots were eventually lost.

Europe Finds Tea
When tea was all the rage in Japan and China, news of this new sensation began to trickle back to Europe. Traders and caravan leaders mentioned it, but no one seemed to know how to serve it or even what it looked like. A Portuguese Jesuit Father Jasper de Cruz was the first European to experience tea personally and write about it in 1560. As Portugal had begun trading with China, they began shipping tea to Lisbon where Dutch ships would transport the tea to France, Holland and the Baltic countries.

Tea soon became high fashion in Hague, the Dutch capital. This was mainly due to the exorbitant price of more than $100 per pound. This meant the wealthy could enjoy it - and the poor could not. Eventually, as the amount of tea that was imported increased, the price began to drop, making it more available to a wider variety of people, including apothecaries. It wasn’t until 1680 that there is any mention of adding milk to tea. Tea was popular in France for about fifty years, until wine, chocolate and exotic coffees captured the French imagination and preference.

Tea Arrives in America
As the Dutch actively traded throughout the Western world, 1650 saw Peter Stuyvesant bring the first tea to colonists in the Dutch settlement called New Amsterdam which later became known as New York. Tea had found its way to America and America was hooked. In fact, when the English acquired the colony they found that that one small settlement was consuming more tea at the time that the entire country of England.

England gets a Taste
Great Britain was the first to venture into the Chinese trade and it was due to this that tea finally reached England sometime between 1652 and 1654. Its popularity skyrocketed. Nobility nodded in approval as they consumed the beverage and the future of tea in England was secured. As tea mania swept over England, all classes enjoyed its refreshment. Soon, the English Afternoon Tea was born.

By 1670 English colonists residing in Boston became aware of tea. By 1720 tea was a trade staple between the Colony and the Mother country. The colonial particularly enjoyed tea. Tea trade became centered in Boston, New York and Philadelphia, which, incidentally, were the future centers of the American rebellion. Tea was very heavily taxed, so smugglers would get contraband tea to the colonies from other ports. The John Company who held the monopoly on tea distribution in the area was quite disgruntled as they saw their profits plummeting. They put pressure on Parliament to take action and put an end to the activities. Then it happened.

The American Revolution and Tea
England had recently completed the French and Indian War and, in England’s viewpoint, it was meant to free the colony from French influence and give trade more stabilization. Parliament decided, then, that the brunt of the cost should go to the colony since it was for them. Suddenly, there were taxes for everything from newspapers to tavern licenses, marriage licenses and docking papers. When the colonists rebelled, Parliament levied even more, heavier taxes, including the 1767 tea tax. The colonists rebelled and purchases imported tea openly and freely. The John Company was still slipping in profits.

When things finally came to a head, the famous Boston Tea Party was born. The men of Boston dressed as Indians and threw hundreds of pounds of tea into the harbor. The Port of Boston retaliated by closing and royal troops moved in to occupy the city. The colonial leaders met and declared revolution. Thus, a free nation was born.

Tea a Timeless Tradition
Today tea is even more popular than ever. Americans enjoy their tea iced, hot, in leaves, in bags, there are a wide variety of types and flavors available and one can access all they want by simply walking into the local market and picking out what they want. Additionally, tea has recently been proven to have health benefits as well as stress relieving properties. So, the beverage that has its origins in ancient China, moved around the world, started a revolution and freed a nation is one of the most popular drinks worldwide today.

Massage Chairs an Alternative Method in Receiving a Massage

If you are on the go and don’t have time to lay down for a nice soothing massage, but are in need of relaxation and stress relief, another option is the Massage Chair. The massage is given over the top of your clothing, you sit up, and in 10 minutes or so you are finished and ready to go.

David Palmer in the 1980’s introduced a sitting posture massage. Since then, this new innovation in massage therapy has more fully developed and grown popular. As with the traditional massage, tables have been designed and built to create the most relaxing position in order to provide best results. Chair massages have done the same thing and developed their own unique positions to maximize comfort and produce the similar results of stress relief, muscle balance, and relaxation. There are two specific chairs used: desktoppers and portable massage chairs.

The desktopper is portable, light weight, and fits on the top of a desk (convenient for offices which do not have a lot of space, and you use the chair in your office or room) or table. They come with similar look of the head and upper portion of a massage table.

Portable chairs do not look like a chair, but are specifically designed for chair massages. Again benefits are light weight, can fit in smaller places than a massage table, and are specific for regions of head, neck, shoulders and back. Typically, you will not see full body massages done in the chair. They take less time and provide similar results.

Another popular chair is the electronic lumbar support chair. These often recline and give the needed lumbar support while mechanically massaging. There are electronic and digital chairs that you can select the various types, strength, and regions of the massage. These chairs can be put in a professional office, at home, or in a student’s dorm room. Some of these recliners come with a stool to massage your calves.

Putting the New in Jersey-Themed Gift Baskets

As you ponder what sort of gift basket fillers will inspire the latest trends in the business of New Jersey-inspired themes, you may want to do a bit of background research on this Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern destination. The state is surrounded by the likes of grand cities, such as New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the Atlantic Ocean. Often, the state shares tourist and commuter visits from those who jump from New York to New Jersey by way of tunnel transport. So, what exactly has people flocking to the state that serves as home to locations, such as Newark (the largest city), Jersey City (with its Holland Tunnel gateway to Manhattan), and Paterson?

Newark is home to almost 300,000 residents, showcasing attractions that range from Art Deco buildings to Gothic architecture to one of the best Tibetan art collections in the world. To pay homage to the Newark Museum, which is home to an assortment of intriguing art, you may present a gift basket featuring Tibetan herbal tea and accessories; homemade bead jewelry kits, or a collection of American art postcards.

Jersey City is the second largest location in the state and serves as a place of residence for celebrities and notable personalities, such as actor, Nathan Lane (from the Producers) and the infamous entrepreneur, Martha Stewart. The Stewart-Inspired gift basket may explore different themes, such as gardening, cooking, baking, or household repair.

Paterson, New Jersey is home to about 150,000 residents, where the Great Falls Historic District brings in plenty of tourists throughout the years. Here, it is the Eastside Park Historic District that satisfies an architecture lovers’ desire. Close to 1,000 Tudor-style, Georgian colonials, Victorian, and Dutch colonial homes are situated in this part of the city. Housewarming gift baskets decorated in common Paterson architectural styles may capture the interest of consumers.

While the three largest cities in New Jersey certainly bring in the outside interest, it is probably Atlantic City that has gained the most attention throughout the state. It is here that the infamous Boardwalk is located, as well as an assortment of notable casinos and amusing attractions. This resort area can be found off of the Atlantic Ocean coast, providing access to entertainment gems, such as Harrah’s, Caesar’s, Resorts, Showboat, Tropicana, Trump Taj Mahal, and the Trump Marina. Casino inspired gift baskets may utilize gold dust, colorful confetti, and gambling chips to further decoration. A few themes to consider include the Good Luck gift basket (filled with chocolate horseshoe and rabbit’s foot keychain) and the Poker Paradise theme (containing tools to hold a friendly game at home).

Additional gift basket ideas to explore may take advantage of the following facts: the popular TV series, The Sopranos was associated with Atlantic City; some of the actual attacks that inspired the shark-related book, Jaws, took place off the Jersey Shore; the state insect is the honeybee; the state animal is the horse; and the state fruit is the blueberry.

Home Business can Suffer and Phobias and Fears can Control your Life

Phobias and Fears can Control your Life and your Home Business.

Some problems are easier to overcome than others when starting
anything new and especially true when it comes to starting a business
online. I’ve come to realize a ton of things in my years of being active
on the Internet about these fears and phobias that are the causes of
Internet Failure. I understand them because I have felt them all
and even more than the ones discussed here.

People let their many Phobias and Fears control their life with feelings
of doubt and it discourages them in starting their Home Business.
The primary fear for most people is that they will fail. The immobilizing
fear of failure makes them say it can’t be done, and they may never
even try it because their fear makes them believe they can’t do it.

When it comes to an Internet Business, many of us feel that we lack too
many things, including money, confidence, knowledge, and direction.

Some of the feelings that fuel our fear are:
UNCERTAINTY ~ SELF DISTRUST ~ DOUBT ~ SKEPTICISM
SUSPICION ~ MISTRUST… these are a few, there are MANY more.

Fear of Losing Money = UNCERTAINTY - The fear of failing brings
uncertainty about their finances and it makes them afraid they won’t
have enough start up capital or that they will spend too much money
and get nothing in return. They also fear that they will just be wasting
their time and then it becomes not just about losing money, it’s the loss
of time as well.

Fear of Inadequate Self-Confidence = SELF DISTRUST - When an
opportunity arises, as in starting a business, some people fear that they
are not going to be good enough or smart enough to make a success of
anything. This is especially true when their self esteem is already at a
low point. Taking a stand against negative thoughts about themselves
is the first step and then they must rewrite the inner ’scripts’ that have
come to believe and turn negative thinking into positive.

Fear of having Incomplete Knowledge = SELF DOUBT - They are afraid
they won’t know how to be successful because of a lack of knowledge in
the business that they chose. They may not know which system to
promote, where to begin, who will help them, and of all these “guru
millionaires”, which one to listen to ~ That brings up the importance of
an Honest Mentor — (see below)

Fear of Friends and Family Opinions = SKEPTICISM - No one wants to
be ridiculed by the people that they trust the most. They imagine that
their friends would say negative things because of the belief they may
have in their minds that people don’t make money doing this…
whatever it is. That should truly be incentive for them to be even more
determined to prove them wrong!

Fear of trusting the wrong people = MISTRUST - Lack of an Honest
Mentor - (or finding one that they trust) can cause fear that they will get
taken or ripped off. There are so many self proclaimed “millionaires”
on the web that seemingly know ‘everything’ about making a living
online… Our minds naturally have SUSPICION when it is implied that
someone knows “everything” and have these “secrets” that they want
to share with you and make you a millionaire too.

The reality is that most people are afraid of “doing it wrong” the first
time out…because nobody likes to try something and fail. Fear of failure
can be devastating to any business and especially when you have
family and friends looking over your shoulder… It just seems like with
Internet Businesses, especially, people are just waiting for you to fail
in your endeavor!

The bottom line is that the number one reason people fail is because of
fears and phobias, and mainly their fear of failure…

How can you get past it all and succeed anyway?

You’ll have to find an approach for you to mentally relieve the anxiety
and stress over your life. Take some actions to not allow these
uncomfortable thoughts to rule your life, and please realize that proven
solutions do exist. Anxiety and Phobias are the mind’s indicators that
we are probably making things more important than they really are.
To put it simply, you have to have faith in your ideal outcome and don’t
let your mind stray from what your ideal outcome will provide in your
life and your business.

Let me end by saying that many people will never earn to their full
potential because the fear rules their lives and sabotages their business
opportunities… Don’t be controlled by fear and take matters into your
own hands and mind. Take the reins and drive this thing all the way to
the place that you want to be in life. Be determined and don’t give up
because most people quit right on the brink of their success, never even
knowing what could have been for them. Never realizing their dreams.

As quoted by Eleanor Roosevelt: We gain strength, and courage, and
confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in
the face … we must do that which we think we cannot.

Find Homeopathy College programs in the United States and Canada. If you’re interested in alternative medicine and would like to pursue a natural healthcare education, then enrolling in a homeopathy college might be a good choice for you.

At a homeopathy college, students will learn a broad spectrum of natural healing modalities including comprehensive coursework in the history and philosophy of homeopathy. Classes will often encompass studies in the origins of homeopathy, Law of Similars, remedies (including material medica: plant, mineral and animal substances), case receiving and analysis, pharmacy, potency and dosage guidelines, and practice management. In addition, students at a homeopathy college will engage in clinical training where they will gain a better understanding in how to effectively analyze and apply homeopathic remedies in a practical setting.

Other subject matter provided through a homeopathy college will commonly include studies in biotherapies, human anatomy and physiology, and natural health. Students who successfully graduate from a homeopathy college can work toward attaining certification and/or licensure. Leasing Versus Buying Your Next New Car - 7 Things To Consider

There are pros and cons to both leasing and buying a new car and it pretty much comes down to your own personal preference and what your long-term plans are for the vehicle.
If you are running a business and use the car for business it may be best for you to lease so you can deduct the lease payments from your taxes.

The best advantages of a lease over a purchase are:

1) You only pay for the part of the cars life that you have used so your payments are lower than they would be had you purchased the vehicle. Since you are only paying for part of the cars value you are able to possibly buy a more expensive car for the same price that it would have cost you to buy a less expensive one. If you are in business and you take clients out in your car it would be better for their first impression of you to be taken out in a nice car.

2) The warranty of a leased car will never run out as long as you own it so you will never have to worry about paying for major repairs. They will be taken care of by the dealer. You will have to keep up with routine maintenance as it is spelled out in your contract but you would have to do that even if you bought the car to keep the warranty in force.

3) As a lease owner your car is always new. You will always have the newest features available and never have to worry about your car becoming obsolete. As a business owner you wouldn’t want to take a client out in an old rattle trap and expect them to really want to do business with you. It is always best to take clients out in a nice car so it doesn’t become the focus of your meeting your actual reason for the meeting will stay in the forefront of the conversation and not the car.

4) You never have to think about the trade-in value of your car or what you could get for it because that is already figured in to the lease price when you first sign the contract. There are no surprises with a lease everything is spelled out for you right up front so you know what to expect and can budget accordingly.

There are a few disadvantages to leasing:

1)-You have to be careful how you treat the car. You cannot leave it somewhere where it will get damaged even just a scratch or you will have to pay for the damage to the dealer when you return the car at the end of your lease term.

2)-The mileage will have to be monitored too. Usually when you sign a lease you pay for a certain number of miles in advance when they calculate your lease payment if you go over that amount you usually have to pay a penalty in addition to paying for the extra miles. So make sure you over estimate the number of miles you plan on driving the car when you first sign the lease. The cost per mile is much cheaper when you first sign the contract than when you bring the car back.

3)-Sometimes car insurance companies charge more to insure a leased vehicle than they do a purchased one. So be sure to give yourself plenty of time to shop for the best insurance rates before you set foot on the dealers lot to look for a new car.

In my home-based business I use the car quite often to go and visit prospective clients and the ease at tax time with the lease payments has made it worth it for me. Plus I get to drive to my clients meeting in a brand new car which really looks good and gives my business credibility.

Take Hours Off Your Workweek - The 90% Rule

When it comes to experiencing more success with less stress, I often work with my clients on “getting out of your own way.” There are lots of ways we get in our own way of success. Although I can’t address all of them here, I will share one with you that will have a major impact on your time: “The 90% Rule.”

What is the 90% Rule? The 90% Rule is the most important rule a perfectionist can have in her toolbox.

Most professionals and small business owners are perfectionists. You want to do things “just right.” In fact, you probably are spending excessive time trying to do various tasks just right.

Consider that if you can do a task to a 90% level of perfection in 4 hours versus a 100% level of perfection in 7 hours, you save yourself 3 hours by applying the 90% Rule. That’s a lot of time!

Perfectionists love the 90% rule. Why? If you recall from college, 90% is still an ‘A.’

What is even better than the 90% Rule? The 70% Rule. 70% is a ‘C’. Recall, that a ‘C’ is average.

Not all tasks that you do in a given day require 100% from you. Which tasks can you give 90% on and still be doing an excellent job? Which tasks can you give 70% on and still be doing an average job?

Try this Coach’s Success Challenge:

List all of the tasks you do in a given week.

Place an “*” by the tasks that require 100% from you.

Place a check mark by the tasks that can be done to a 90% level of perfection.

Place a “-” by the tasks that can be done to a 70% level of perfection.

Use your list as a reminder to yourself that you don’t have to work so hard. Use the list to remind yourself to clear the obstacle of perfectionism from your path to success.

Of course, a lot of your work will still require 100% from you. However, if you get clear on which tasks can be done sufficiently with less time and effort, you make your work a lot less stressful. You free up more time for what is most important to you!

Making a Magical Gift Basket with a Minnesota-Related Theme

Situated in the Midwest, the state of Minnesota is the 12th largest state in the United States. The region is known for its hefty amount of water resources, which earned the area the nickname “Land of 10,000 Lakes.” It is through this plentiful display of natural surroundings that feeds the interest in the state, national forests and parks. The great outdoors is a definite draw for both locals and tourists who frequently explore the ins and outs of such a fulfilling breath of fresh air. Maybe that’s why the overall population is known as one of the healthiest in the U.S.

Minnesota serves as a significant location in the United States when it comes to fulfilling the shopping desires of those who like to run up their credit card bill. The state is home to the first indoor shopping mall in the nation, called Edina’s Southdale Center. The largest shopping arena in the U.S. is also situated in Minnesota. The infamous Mall of America can be found in Bloomington. A Comfort Food Specialty gift basket filled with chocolate and other tasty treats might be just the thing to perk up the spirits of one who has maxed out their credit as they spent hours and hours trying to cover the 4.2 million square-foot shopping mecca.

As you explore the main themes that would create a great Minnesota-themed gift basket, you might want to tap into subjects that will pertain to the younger crowd. When juvenile birthdays roll around, family and friends scramble to locate a gift the birthday girl or boy will truly enjoy. While growing toddlers are hard to keep up with clothing sizes, you can never go wrong with stuffed animals. Allow little ones to explore the creatures native to the Minnesota area, as you include the black bear, geese, ducks, whitetail deer, the snowy owl, bald eagle, and turkey as companions keeping an array of edible goodies company.

For the adult, they may appreciate the brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, migratory waterfowl, deer, bass, grouse, and pheasants that roam the region. Gift baskets geared towards the fishermen and hunters in the vicinity may include an array of snacks, crackers, mini-meals, or resources to further their activities as they take to the water and forest in search of the next big conquest.

To appease an imaginative child, the next birthday that comes along could be spent with a gift basket celebrating the Minneapolis Fringe Festival, which may include do-it-yourself puppet making, theatre masks, musical instruments, and paint-by-number sets. Another popular fair in the Minnesota area includes the State Fair, which presents an explosion of culture and other interesting details, such as butter sculptures, seed art, and tons of food on a stick.

Additional gift basket themes for the Minnesota crowd may include the exploration of subjects, colors, and decorative possibilities of the Minnesota Twins (baseball), Minnesota Vikings (football), Minnesota Timberwolves (basketball), milk (state drink); Honeycrisp apple (state fruit); and wild rice (state grain).

A Quick And Easy Route To A Life Insurance Quote

Getting a life insurance quote may be an easier process than it used to be. No longer is it necessary to make an appointment and go to the office of the nearest insurance company to sit down and fill out reams of paperwork. Getting a quotation for the cost of a policy also need not involve bringing an insurance salesperson into your home.

Too many times the potential client felt pressured when trying to obtain a quotation this way. But now, with the Internet so easy to use a person can get estimates on the cost of insurance from several companies without so much as leaving their computer screens.

If this is the route you choose to go then in only a few moments the information you need to give can be put into the online form and you can get a life insurance quote for free. This quote will come with no obligation to purchase the insurance and also means that the person can get quotes from as many companies as they choose.

The forms will ask for the most common identifying information such as height, weight, gender and age. It will want to know if you are a smoker or use tobacco in any form. There will likely be some questions regarding your overall health. Then the form will have a place for you to pick the size and type of policy that you are interested in purchasing.

Another nice thing about being able to apply for insurance from the comfort of your own home is that you can do it whenever it is convenient for you. There is access to these forms twenty four hours a day seven days a week. Also, be reassured that these companies will not pass along your personal information to anyone else. They will respect your privacy. It is the way they are able to keep their clients.

For someone who is looking for a more informed approach to getting a life insurance quote they may want to go in to the office of the insurance company to learn more about the different types of insurance that are available to them.

The Internet is one source but if you have specific questions you need a person to be able to answer them. This person can explain the various terms that go along with the types of insurance and what they mean to the potential customer. They can explain the benefits, the costs and the outcomes of buying the various kinds of policies.

This information is important if you are seriously considering buying a policy of some type. When you are ready to get a life insurance quote you want to be sure that you have enough information on what you want to ensure you are buying the right policy.

Making a Michigan-Themed Gift Basket Sparkle

Named after the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan, the state is situated within the Midwest region of the United States, offering cool and refreshing access to four of the five Great Lakes. Water is an important aspect when it comes to the state of Michigan, which presents its fair share of natural resources to explore. In the United States, Michigan also possesses the longest freshwater shoreline in the country. When it comes to gift baskets that display the beauty and appeal of the region, the color blue is a highly embraced visual choice.

As you explore the ins and outs of Michigan, you might have come across the excitement of the largest city in the state - Detroit. It is here where you will encounter the “Motor City,” a major automobile industrial land with a host of car-related attractions in the area, including a museum and casino. Gift baskets capitalizing off of the car theme may include car wash accessories; racing car memorabilia; emergency roadside supplies; as well as arrangements showcasing road trip edibles.

A wealth of surrounding industries, products, and services also calls Michigan cities their home base. For example, Michigan is home to the Kellogg Headquarters, where a larger-than-life Tony the Tiger statue greets visitors in Battle Creek. Post Cereals also sets up shop in the state. Cereal-related gift baskets could be the latest craze for consumers of all ages, especially children. An entire basket theme could center on the Kellogg’s Rice Krispie treats that have gained international acclaim.

A Computer World gift basket could take off from the information technology presence of Google in Michigan to the computer software supplied by Compuware and IBM. Media storage, duplication accessories, keyboard cleaner, dust remover, monitor screen wipes, decorative computer paper, and a mousepad are just some of the gift basket items to consider.

Throughout Michigan, baseball is not the favorite pastime here, but rather the art of hunting. The sport also acts as a major contributor to the economy of the state. Michigan actually holds the highest number of licensed hunters (totaling over 1 million) than any other state in the U.S. Close to one million hunters flock to fields to take advantage of the white-tailed deer season. The activity is so prominent that some rural district schools actually hold holiday time for the opening of rifle season.

Another intriguing aspect of Michigan includes the fact that there are more than 130 lighthouses situated throughout the state. This is more than any other location in the U.S. The first lighthouses made an appearance in Michigan between 1818 and 1822, with the purpose of providing light to safely guide passenger ships home. A nautical-themed gift basket with lighthouse trinkets may find a place in both the local and tourist Michigan market.
