Discount Security Camera - How To Find Discount Security Cameras

Shopping for a discount security camera system can be a daunting task for those with little experience in this area.

Many people believe buying security cameras simply because they are cheaper at one venue over another means they have got themselves a good deal. Sure, you may have paid less but what level of back up service will you get for the price.

Buying Online

It’s not hard to find a discount security camera by shopping online. Using auction sites for example can net you some pretty nifty bargains but again, if something goes wrong within a short time of your purchase do you have any recall.

This is one of the biggest issues for people shopping online and buying from individuals rather than from established companies. The benefit of buying from an established company is the back up service you’ll receive.

Getting Recommendations

Before you go out and purchase a camera, consider getting recommendations from either people you know or from your local outlets. Get pricing and service details and then head online and do some comparison shopping.

For home owners, the price of a security camera system is all important especially if one is working on a tight budget.

A discount security camera will be your prime choice so consider something like the Pro 420 Line Infrared Camera which is available for little more than $100. It has an extremely attractive IR range and is effective in both night and day time conditions.

With a product such as the Pro 420, a lot of the guess work is taken out of the equation compared to buying the product from an auction site and hoping the product you purchase will not break down within a short time of you receiving it.

Any discount security camera is going to appeal to those shopping for a bargain price however, for a few dollars more, shopping with an established outfit who can provide back up service is worth much more than a few dollars discount.

E-Mail Letter Writing Tricks That Generate Clicks and Sell Like Crazy

E-mail letters are fast and cheap. And if written correctly, they’re incredibly effective. E-mail marketing is still in its infancy, but over the last few years marketers have started to discover the how to make this exciting new medium work.

Here are nine e-mail letter writing tactics for boosting response:

  • Write an attention-grabbing subject line. You can state your offer (Get 600,000 pieces of clip art for only $69.95!), offer something free (Free Dow Jones Video Just For Asking), announce exciting news (Russian scientist discovers biological secret of love), appeal to the how-to instinct (How to find out anything about anyone!), or ask a question (Want an easy way out of debt?). The subject line is like teaser copy on an envelope. Its only purpose is to get people interested enough to want to know more.
  • Get creative with your subject line. Arouse curiosity by ending your line mid-sentence (To cut your travel costs in half just…). Establish a personal feel with the “forward” abbreviation (FW: Here’s something I think you’ll like). Create excitement with a “nuts” line (We’re going nuts trying to reach you!). Create familiarity with a “whoops” line (Whoops! Important correction to my last e-mail). The possibilities are endless.
  • Don’t forget the “from” line. What’s one of the first things you do when you get a letter by regular mail? You look at the upper left-hand corner of the envelope to see who sent it. Likewise, when people get e-mail, they look at the from line to see who sent it. You can use a company name (From: SharperImage), personal name (From: Richard Thalheimer), e-mail address (From: Richard@sharperimage.com), department address (From: SpecialOffers@sharperimage.com), anonymous address (From: 23456@si.com), or just about anything you want. Generally, however, people pay more attention to messages from people they know.
  • Get to the point quickly. Expand on your subject line in the headline or first paragraph of your e-mail letter. Telegraph your offer clearly and completely. If your subject line reads, “Get $100.00 off your utility bills,” your first paragraph could read, “Sign up now for a RISK-FREE 30-day trial of Shopper’s Discount and you can get $100 in FREE UTILITIES! We will send you $100 in Utility Cash-Back Certificates … good for gas, electric, cable TV, phone … absolutely FREE.”
  • Include a salutation. Many e-mail letters work fine without a salutation, looking more like short ads. But if you want your letter to look like a letter, you’ll need a salutation at the top or after a headline. You can make it generic (Dear Friend, Dear Pet Lover, Dear Homeowner), but a personalized salutation is better whenever that’s an option. Simply include the word “Dear” followed by a field for the first name or first and last name of the recipient. You can personalize your body text in the same way with names, places, locations, and various bits of information. Don’t overdo it, though, or you’ll raise privacy concerns.
  • Include at least three links. Unless you’re trying to sell something directly from your e-mail, you will be sending your reader to an HTML page to complete the transaction. That means including a link that the reader can click on or cut and paste into a browser’s address window. This link should appear at least three times: after the offer in your first paragraph, somewhere in the middle of the letter, and again at the end. For newsletters, you can break your copy into several short items, each on a different subject with its own link.
  • Keep it short (usually). Prevailing wisdom is that a prospect letter should be from 200 to 500 words and a newsletter from 500 to 1,500 words. But don’t rely on that. Successful letters can be anywhere from a few sentences to thousands of words. In general, if you want to sell right from the letter, you need more copy. If you want people to go to another location, keep it short and say just enough to get the click-through.
  • Don’t look like a spammer. Keep your tone friendly and informative. Avoid overblown language. Keep the exclamation points to a minimum. Avoid lots of all-cap lines, which is akin to screaming in cyberspace.
  • Test everything. This includes from lines, subject lines, personalization, plain text vs. HTML, offers, length, everything. And don’t forget to test the page that you’re sending people to. Every little improvement translates into more revenue for each subsequent mailing.

A Review of Part IX of Ron Paul’s “Pillars of Prosperity”

Dr. Ron Paul has published a new book this year, entitled “Pillars of Prosperity: Free Markets, Honest Money, Private Property,” which contains an extensive compilation of his thoughts on economics and presents an excellent opportunity for a special book review. This the ninth and final installment of a longer review of the entire book, the full review of which will examine each individual part of the book and present a summary of the positions and arguments presented, which have been woefully underrepresented to most Americans. “Part 9 - Spending, Taxes, and Regulations” is discussed here.

In the final section of the book, Ron Paul has collected a number of miscellaneous writings on various topics relating to the free market and government intervention. The main themes which have also been examined throughout the book are prominent in these discussions, including government overspending, intervention in the economy in an effort to help the poor, and the discriminatory practices of Congress in handing out benefits.

The government’s willingness to spend every penny and more that it can tax and borrow has been a frequent issue Paul has raised throughout his speeches. When the politicians can not tax or borrow further, they go to the Federal Reserve, which prints up the money to cover the shortfall. But this new money causes inflation, and the banking system contributes to the problem. Paul states that, due to the fractional reserve system, money is multiplied six times. A $1.5 billion creation of new money will eventually result in a $9 billion increase in the total supply of dollars.

Paul argues that the issue of the federal debt limit is essentially a joke. Designed to keep a lid on Congress’ spending, the politicians have frequently voted to increase the limit, rather than reign in the size of government. This is like a compulsive shopper giving himself a higher credit limit care of his lenders, which is exactly like not having a limit at all. Paul also likens the practice to “making minimum payments on a credit card. Notice that the principal never goes down. In fact, it is rising steadily.” Nothing can stop the government from ever increased spending, as it reaches one self-imposed limit after another with only higher limits and more spending.

The growth of government, though, is not just a problem with either side of the aisle. Paul has long argued that the Republican Party has lost its way, giving up positions that got them elected in the first place, such as cutting spending, no deficit spending, and eliminating waste in government. The GOP, though, has instead sold out to the entitlements crowd. But this has not even helped them gain more power or respect from the special interest groups, as the Democrats offer to spend even more than the Republicans on every issue.

A good example of this trend toward growing government is the issue of nondiscretionary funding. If the money must be spent and control is out of the hands of Congress, then these programs are out of the control of the people. Nondiscretionary entitlement spending, according to Paul, is a statist’s dream, encouraging the welfare state at home and the American Empire spread across the world.

This government intervention and willingness to spend more money than it has is the true cause of the growing gap between rich and poor. Congress, though, only proposes more welfare and intervention, rather than examining the source of the problems. But increasing federal welfare funds also increases federal control and fosters dependency. The recipients are dependent on government for their money, and the bureaucrats are dependent on more people being on welfare to provide job security.

Paul’s solution to the welfare problem is for government to end the huge tax burden on individuals so that they have more money to donate to charities to help the poor. Whereas government destroys culture and creates dependency, charity encourages self-reliance. Paul writes that, “The history of the failed experiments with welfarism and socialism shows that government can only destroy a culture; when a government tries to build a culture, it only further erodes the people’s liberty.” People who are able to keep only small amounts of their paychecks can not afford to contribute to solving some of these social problems.

Another problem that could be solved with fewer regulations and lower taxes is that of minimum wage. Imposing wage controls on the economy drives a wedge between the supply of labor and demand for labor. This actually increases unemployment, the one problem that the minimum wage was designed to fix. Paul proposes lower taxes and deregulation which he argues would promote job growth.

But the spending, inflating, and government intervention is not just a problem itself, according to Paul. Another more serious issue is the discriminatory means by which Congress hands out its benefits. While it has passed laws to make it more difficult on the average person to discharge their debts through bankruptcy, Congress has bailed out several high-profile institutions using taxpayer money. Lockheed Corporation, the City of New York, Chrysler Corporation, and the Long Term Capital Management hedge fund are just a few of the companies or governments that Congress has considered taking money away from poor and middle class individuals and giving it to the fiscally-incompetent wealthy.

Even before these private corporations or governments get into enough trouble to consider bankruptcy, they can receive billions of dollars of the people’s money in corporate welfare benefits. For example, the two largest beneficiaries of aid from the Export-Import Bank are Boeing Corporation and the nation of China. It is inconceivable that the poor and middle class of America should be subsidizing corporations and competitors in foreign nations.

Before Enron collapsed in late 2001, it was also the recipient of billions of dollars in welfare. The company was one of the largest beneficiaries of the Eximbank, receiving nearly $600 million courtesy of the average American. The Overseas Private Investment Corporation also provided the company with nearly $1 billion to pursue twelve projects in foreign countries, many of which turned out to be complete wastes (the power plant Enron financed and built in India remains unused to this day). The funding provided to the company in the form of loans will not be repaid, and the bill will end up being paid by the average American.

Companies like Enron also benefit from indirect government intervention in the market. The fact that the company met all of the regulations and rules required by the Securities and Exchange Commission gave investors, trusting in government institutions, a false sense of security because their financial statements were not in question by the SEC. The easy credit provided by the Federal Reserve also allowed Enron to receive uncollateralized loans from large banks. These loans also will most likely never be repaid now.

Of course, no government intervention would be complete without a contradictory intervention to complete the cycle of irony. On one hand, Congress passed the Sarbanes-Oxley regulations (which Paul would get ride of) in the wake of Enron’s and Worldcom’s collapse, which were designed to provide more openness in financial reporting. On the other hand, they continued waging a war against the financial privacy of individuals with more attacks on personal liberties after 9/11 under the banner of the open-ended War on Terror. Concealing their own intentions to attack financial privacy rights of the people, these previously rejected proposals were resurrected, colored with the broad brush of “fighting terrorism,” and thrust on a fearful public.

Throughout this book, Ron Paul’s consistent message has been that of limiting the power and size of government and increasing the liberties and power of the people. The enormous tax burden on the people, along with thousands of regulations interfering in the free market, and the unaccountability of an overspending, inflation-creating government have significantly eroded the people’s awareness of their own power to control the government that has supposedly been created to protect their life, liberty, and property. Paul has always stated that it was his intention to leave a record of his beliefs on the proper role of government and practice the principles he holds regarding government intervention into welfare spending and the free market. This book, Pillars of Prosperity: Free Markets, Honest Money, Private Property, is a valuable part of that record and shows that the Congressman is one of the few politicians who believes that the principles of liberty are what make this country great, rather than the politics of special interests.

Jaded Tasks - Brass Plates, Black Ops, and Big Oil

Jaded Tasks by Wayne Madsen is an excellent book. Like a nice cold Coca Cola squirted straight up your nose, this book will have you snorting and huffing in utter disgust, quickly and throughout. If you do not get all worked up over the information in this book go see your doctor because you might be dead. The entire title of this book is JADED TASKS — Brass Plates, Black Ops, and Big Oil: The Blood Politics of George Bush and Co., and that title tells it like it is, no sugar coatings, just a little something more to gnaw upon in contemplation of these bona fide revelations concerning criminal pedigree across many generations!

Madsen does his usual good job of discerning the real connections: the how comes, wheretofores, and planned escapes that become manifest when a paper trail truly festoons a story. I have always been told that one lie leads to another, and concerning our Governments black operations, which mean rogue activities with no oversight and for special interests of high sort — well, a good paper trail is that in spades, lie, after lie, after lie, and all together, one thing leading to another, a desk drawer, a cardboard box, the world. Madsen is unerring in his ability to ferret out the true crux of a story, then expound well on how it relates to other stories of import, patterns in general, and powers that are.

One of the most important things I learned while delving into this eerily knowledgeable accounting of world affairs is that a lot has been happening in Africa for the last two or three decades, and has not been covered by most corporate media on Earth. Unpleasant things, things which definitely get hidden, swept under the rug, because genocide, bioterror, rape, pillage, and strife are not what the moguls have come to call a winning scenario. The moguls are schmux, and peasants in suits, and thats all they ever will be, and thats common knowledge I am sure. For the record.

Conversely, but in the same vein, the names of the Africans involved in the horror of what has happened in Africa in the last 20 - 30 years…these names are many times very hard to spell, pronounce, and remember. They are truly foreign words to many people, especially English speakers. This is probably why a lot of attention goes elsewhere. I would like to suggest that in the future, the players within this macabre and pathetic football game across duhhhh-byas world, consider shortening their names for better public relations and more guaranteed coverage of their particular causes.

Amen.

I am talking about names like: Habnarimana, Faustin Twagiramungu, Pasteur Bizimungu, Emmanuel Kataliko, Pierre Celeste Rwigyema…come on people, if you are going to play with the likes of the bush family, you better get your team names and pop monickers better aligned with your fan base, and quit lolligagging behind a decrepit and phony nationalism. I mean it. Its all about getting with the program.

The program.

This book JADED TASKS did an admirable job of bringing me up to date quickly, with an orderly consolidation of happenstance concerning Africa, and much more. It was a very valuable experience. Over too quickly, knowing the second and third times through will bring their own surprises, whats not to love?

Madsen ends it nicely, concisely, to the point: the last flitting image from this book lays blame where blame lies, and some will not be happy over it, but truth is hardly ever well met. We must applaud and congratulate Mr. Madsen on his longevity, thank him for his conscientiousness, and wish him well during his battles.

What To Do If You Breakdown

Lately there has been a huge increase in the number of fatal accidents stemming from a simple breakdown on the side of the road. It is important to remember that there are other cars around you when you are pulled over and not all of them will be paying attention to you alone on the side of the road. That is why it is necessary to take precautions against accidents happening on the side of the road.

First of all, don’t try to squeeze out the door if there are cars passing. It sounds like common sense, but some people don’t realize how close they are to passing cars and opening the door enough to get out could be enough to put yourself in the way of danger. Whether you get stuck in the middle of the day or the middle of the night, some drivers just don’t pay enough attention to what is going on and risk being hit.

If you do happen to get stranded at night, make sure you leave some sort of light on so that other people can identify where you are. It is dangerous enough to be on the side of the road when people can see you, but it is even worse when no one has any idea that you are there. Not to mention the fact that you have a higher risk of seeing intoxicated and exhausted drivers late at night that may not be in full control of their vehicles at all times.

Learn how to change tires. Many breakdowns are due to flat tires. Being able to change your own tires can be a useful skill and will lessen your reliance on others to get you out of a breakdown. Be careful who you get help from. These days most everyone has access to a cellular phone or other means of contacting assistance, but if you have no way of reaching someone you know and trust, be careful asking strangers for help. In most cases the public could be understanding and you can find help, but from time to time there will be people with bad intent that will pretend to help you while really tricking you into something worse. If you need to borrow a phone to call someone, do so, but never get in a stranger’s car if they offer you a ride home. Better safe than sorry in this instance.

Overall, roadside safety is common sense, but you have to remember that you will probably not be the cause of an accident. Instead it will be somebody else not paying attention that makes the situation worse. That is why it is important to protect yourself in as many ways as possible to make sure that other drivers are aware of your situation and you will not be in the way of anyone that is not paying attention. Secondly, it is important to remember to keep yourself safe when it comes to asking for help with your car from people you do not know. No matter what the situation, you are always better off asking someone you know than going to a complete stranger. Sometimes, it is better hire a car road assistance. Don’t place yourself in a situation where you can be harmed by a simple roadside breakdown.

5 Simple Ways to Boost Your Internet Marketing for Free

Whether you are an account executive working in an aggressive corporate environment, or you are the entrepreneur who just started their own home based business, these simple tips will give you free outlets for your marketing endeavors.

1- Become the expert

If you are an expert at what you do, then this step should be easy. If you are not yet considered an expert, then delve into as much educational materials as you can get your hands on. The foremost authorities in marketing and advertising spend thousands of dollars a year on newsletters, seminars, books and audio cd’s in order to stay on top of the growing trends.

Moving on, become well versed in your particular field and then begin to market yourself (not your company) by providing news publications valuable and well-researched articles that address the needs of that publications readers. By simply doing this not only to you advertise yourself for free, but you set yourself apart as an authority and by default people will believe what you say. At this point any further contacts you make from within that particular marketing piece will now be more receptive and willing to do business with you. Find a resource, Become a resource.

2- Create a presence

Whether you are a Corporate Joe or Sally Home Maker, create for yourself a professional presence that can display your expertise. This can be easily done for free through blogs, my personal favorite being the blogspot which is operated by Google. You can add site feeds, news feeds, and even ads which mirror the content on your blog making your blog more fluid. This presence should also serve less as an affiliation with whatever particular income source you have right now, and more as a resource guide on that particular industry. This can also easily be done by linking a variety of other similar resources on your blog.

3- Synergize your efforts

This can be accomplished very easily if you have followed the two steps above. Now that you have an ample amount of written publications in circulation, you have a source blog which displays your own personal thoughts on the industry, it is time to pull these two together and create an explosive marketing campaign which sets you apart from all the other hokey ads out there.

This particular step may be more difficult for some than others, however it can create a binding effect which will bring together your previous efforts and create more exposure than each individual marketing piece.

Create a website that links all of these together. If you can successfully accomplish this than I have now given you some basic strategies that SEO companies use on their own clients. You have just saved yourself hundreds of marketing dollars simply by being informed. The ability to link your different materials, place your person website in the core of this information, and set yourself apart as an expert is the key to becoming a presence online.

4- Integrate with the Traditional Advertising

Most people do not limit themselves to online marketing, and yet they somehow fail to miss the simple step that will substantially boost their qualified lead rate. In every form of direct mail, e-mail, newspaper ads, signs, banners, calendars, etc., make sure that it all points to your website. However if you really want to retain these qualified customers, simply input a form on your website that will offer your potential client or customer some form of information or service upon entering their own information. These forms are free and easy to find all over the web. Simply do a Google search for “Free input forms for website” and you should find a plethora of pre-coded forms to copy and paste in your websites HTML code.

5- Create an urgent CALL TO ACTION

In every form of advertising, in every publication or print ad, make sure that in some way you are letting your customer know that if they do not respond to your website in some way they are missing out on something valuable. Each industry differs in which way you would do this, but for a Mortgage Broker it might say, “Get a free quote from me on your next loan - mywebsite.com”.

Some other proven methods have been using negative words to create curiosity. “Best Consulting Nationwide - Don’t Believe it? Don’t Call. 1-800-mynumber”

There are various ways to inspire a person’s curiosity, you have to determine which way your target market will most likely respond to. One of the most amusing examples of this I have seen is:

“Liberals Hate It. 99.99FM”

Whatever form of marketing you are using, these steps should serve as a simple outline with some free tips on how to synergize your marketing efforts and create a free presence online without spending thousands of dollars on SEO companies or advertisements.

Increasing Your Metabolism, Part 1

This is Part One in a Four-Part Series on how to eat to lose weight and build your metabolism. We will also look at how combining foods can work together to help you lose weight. In addition, how eating more, not less, will speed your metabolism back up to burn that unwanted fat.

Diets are never fun, and they always seem to have a negative conation. Therefore, instead of saying, “I’m going on a diet”. Now we say, I’m changing the way I eat, I’m eating healthier, I’m working on toning my body, building up lean muscle, etc…

As a middle-age person who gave up dieting long ago, I have finally decided it was time for a body make-over I thought I would share with you some of the excellent information I have come across during my search of how to eat healthier and lose weight at the same time. You do need to realize some of the ideas are going to seem quite hard at first, because as human beings we get into our habits, and as we all know, habits is a tough cycle to try and change.

The number one thing- well, I guess there are really two number ones’ that are going to be the hardest for me to change; one is giving up salt. I do love salt on my food, especially vegetables, like collard greens and cabbage- I couldn’t have imagined eating them without loads of salt. However, I did, and you know something? It really wasn’t too bad- but it also wasn’t as good. Luckily, there are alternatives you can buy to give your greens a flavor close to salt, without the water retention of sodium. Mrs. Dash comes to mind, as well as the one I’m using, No Salt, it’s absolutely 100% sodium free and the taste is pretty good.

Sodium makes your body retain a lot of water. Getting rid of the water in your system is important, because when you rid water, you eliminate fat. If food is pre-packaged, then nine out of ten times, it is loaded with sodium. Start paying attention to the labels on pre-packaged food; you will be shocked at the huge amounts of sodium. It’s no wonder America has a High Blood Pressure problem!

That leads me straight into my number two, number one: Diet Soda. As much as it pains me to say this, diet soda is not only filled with sodium, which makes you retain water, but new scientific tests are coming out more and more everyday, describing how the artificial sweetener also makes us gain weight. I urge you to research this further, as I am just touching on the subject here. Artificial Sweetener seems to change the way our bodies metabolize sweets. It actually changes chemicals in our brain, causing our body to store fat and slow our metabolism. Therefore, it seems my favorite drink, diet soda, is a two-edged sword.

Continue on To Part Two, where we will look at Carbohydrates and Proteins.

Top Tips For Small Readers

Shock, horror, you wouldn’t dream of teaching a tiny baby! And yet you do. Every waking moment. You teach him to recognise everything in his nursery, home and, as his world widens , his environment. As this powerful bonding between you and your baby grows, so does his knowledge. As you teach, he learns.

“But,” you argue, “That’s not teaching. That’s just being with my baby.”

Be assured, it is teaching. It is as valid as the teaching in any Nursery, Playgroup or Pre-School. You are your child’s first and finest teacher. You know him better than any teacher ever will and, importantly, he is having one to one tutoring in the safest place on earth.

Now, accepting that you do teach your baby, why do you think it’s wrong to teach him or her that ‘this a picture is an a’ but proactive to say ‘this picture is a puppy.’ Why is a colourful kite good but a colourful kite bad?

Babies are spontaneous learners and this period of brilliant potential is constantly undervalued and lost.

WHY TEACH A BABY?

For forty years I have witnessed the crippling damage wrought by ‘Look and Guess’ reading methods. For forty years I have gathered one damaged child after another. All were emotionally scarred from having been expected to commit to memory every word in every book they read. New words could only be guessed at. Their reading aloud was hesitant and meaningless, while silent reading was like trying to decipher a foreign language. By age 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and onward they constantly bombed out at comprehension of any text, no matter how simple. These children had no effective catalyst to turn a hotch-potch of letters and words into meaningful information.
Ridiculed daily by peer groups - and might I say frequently by teachers - they are marked as remedial. At best they drift into dead end jobs, forever intimidated and fearing rejection. At worst, though never overcoming their inhibitions, they develop a truculent resilience to authority and end up before the Courts. These were not dumb, stupid or slow children, they were all bright but those vital early years were never harnessed - they were never taught to read and so never developed the skills of thinking, comprehension or critical analysis. Every ’slow’ child I have rescued has turned out to be a very bright child who had been living in a totally incomprehensible world.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT YOUR CHILD?

In spite of the fact that our children in the UK start school earlier than in any other country in Europe and are tested ad nauseam a huge percentage cannot read or can read only haltingly. Whilst denying the blatant evidence that standards have been dumbed down, our Government has, at last, recognized the cause of the UK’s literacy problems and has recommended the teaching of phonics. Sadly it is a watered down middle-of-the-road system called ‘analytic phonics’ where phonic sounds are learned but the same old damaging guesswork texts are still used.

Still, as a specialist in phonics I applaud the fact that children are at least learning that words are made up of sounds, a small step in the right direction.

There are, however, many teachers and Heads of Schools who refuse to embrace the phonic system. In the face of all the evidence to prove that phonics - the system by which I was taught and by which my 96 year old mother was taught - is the only successful way to teach all children to read. ‘Look and Guess’ is easy and, though it fails a chunk of the population, it’s fast and simple and that is why these people refuse to switch.

And here is where your baby takes centre stage.

Just one teacher who encourages him or her to guess at words, whether by searching the picture for clues , by memorising it from another lesson or contextually, ie fitting a suitable word into the sentence, will do years of damage to your child and its future.
By age 14 he will read ‘biblical’ for ‘biographical’ ‘lands’ for ‘lends’ ‘banker’ for ‘embankment’. To escape this damage you can start in your baby’s nursery.

Place the letters of the alphabet around the nursery and then bid a cheery “good morning” to ‘a’ or ‘b’ on the walls or ‘c’ on the floor or ‘d’ sitting on teddy’s nose. This tiny beginning is the start of your child becoming a super reader.

Synthetic phonics, which I have taught continuously since Training College in New Zealand in the fifties, is simply fast phonics to fabulous reading. Babies and pre-schoolers can have a painless path to early literacy with fun and laughter.

For those who have decided on home schooling, your child’s successful reading is vital to achieving an excellent standard in every subject. Children don’t come with operating instructions, parenting, though wonderful is a course with many obstacles. Your child’s reading need not be one of them.

MY NEXT ARTICLE

Commercial alphabets have for many years been the subject of huge controversy between me and shopkeepers. I have approached them in Australia, New Zealand and here in the UK over disastrous alphabet charts. I have found ‘w for whale’, ‘i for ice-cream’, ‘x for x-ray’, ‘x for xylophone’ and ‘c for city’ to mention just a few. All wrong and totally detrimental to the new reader.

In my next article I shall give you the perfect alphabet which leads your child straight into reading.

MY TOP ADVICE

Never push your child, play games that will have him laughing and learning at the same time.
