1. Defragment your hard drive. As files are constantly added and deleted from your hard drive they become fragmented. In other words, the files are spread all over the available hard drive space. Defragmenting the hard drive moves them all close together again and reduces the time it takes for the hard drive to find them.

2. Empty the recycle bin. The files that you delete from your computer are all still present in the recycle bin. This is helpful especially if you deleted a file by mistake. If not, they are just taking up room. Delete them.

3. Empty the browser cache. This is easily done by clicking Tools in a Internet Explorer window.
Navigate to Internet Options, select Delete Files (under Temporary Internet Files.) Check delete offline content and click ok. If you like, you may also delete the cookies cache since it is right next to the delete files radio button. This will reduce the time it takes to open a site on the Internet, and free up hard drive space.

4. Run a virus scan on a weekly basis. You can schedule a virus scan for the early AM if you prefer. This will prevent the scanning program from slowing down your computer during the day when you will be most likely to use it.

5. Schedule your antivirus program to do viral signature updates on a weekly basis. If you are paranoid, do it once a day.

5. Avoid “shady” Web sites. Websites offering freebies, great deals, pornography or gaming are notorious targets for adware and spyware.

Aside from the fact that pirating software is copyright infringement and is illegal, it’s also dangerous to your computer. This pirated software is often used by hackers as a vehicle to download spyware, malware and viruses.

7. Do not install too many fonts. Every font you install in Microsoft Windows uses memory. A system with too many fonts installed may take more than 5 minutes just to boot up. You may have many fonts on your computer without even knowing it, as many popular office and desktop publishing programs can install them automatically. To keep fonts from affecting computer performance, don’t install more than 200-400 at the most.

8. Scan your computer daily with an antivirus/antispyware program at least once. This will help eliminate the risk of infections and help speed up a sluggish computer bogged down by spyware. So, you have been on the internet looking at things you should not have been looking at. Can you really imagine of someone finds out what you are searching for, or the websites you have gone to? Items Required:

lint free cloth
dry cloth or duster
suitable cleaning fluid (isopropyl alcohol)
cotton buds
can of compressed air or vacuum cleaner(optional).

First, shutdown your PC and remove the mains plug, unplug the keyboard and hold it upside down to release any debris from in between the keys.

If you have a can of compressed air then use it to blow any debris from around and under the keys, if not then use the hose of a vacuum cleaner to remove it.

Now take one of the cotton buds and put a couple of drops of the cleaning fluid on it, use the cotton bud to clean the sides of the keys.

After cleaning the sides of the keys take your lint free cloth and dampen it with your cleaning fluid, remember never to pour liquid directly onto the PC. Give the surface of the keyboard a good wipe over using the cloth.

When you have finished give the keyboard a wipe over with the dry cloth/duster, you should now have a nice clean keyboard, to clean it more thoroughly follow the guide below.

If you have the time and prefer to give the keyboard a more deep down clean you can quite easily remove all the keys on the keyboard (only recommended for standard PC keyboards).

It is important however to make a note of all the key positions so that you can re-assemble the keyboard when finished.

The keys can be popped off using anything like a screwdriver, take care not to scratch the keys.
Repeat the above process but this time you can thoroughly clean the keyboard inside and individually clean the keys.
The keyboard keys will just pop back on once maneuvered into position.
Do not force the keys on they should pop on with a light pressure.
