Six Steps to Starting a Child Care Business in Your Home

Starting up a child care business in your home involves quite a bit of planning. Here are some things to consider:

1. Licenses and Legalities - The first step you\’ll want to take is learning everything you can about your individual state laws concerning home child care. Health codes, zoning laws, liability insurance, required certification, income taxes…just to name a few. Even if you are re-starting your business after taking some time off, you\’ll want to brush up…the laws you remember may have been amended.

2. Research the Competition - Call around to various day care centers, as well as home child care providers and ask questions. Check on rates, guidelines, hours, how they handle payment, sick children, and behavior issues. The more you know about what other providers offer, the better you will know the parents\’ expectations and will be able to prepare your business.

3. Educate Yourself - Take local classes. Subscribe to child care magazines or visit your library and read through several of the latest copies. Sign up for several e-zines and e-newsletters to receive information on day care tips and trends as well as general news about kids - their behavior, health, and the latest scientific research. Some information is timeless, but new developments in caring for children pop up every day. Be in the know and kept up-to-date on these changing issues.

4. Child-Proof Your Home - No matter the age of the children you\’ll be caring for, you can\’t child-proof your home too much. Invest in cabinet and drawer latches, secure gates for the top of stairs or rooms you want to block off. Put away any fragile items, and reserve your green thumb for outdoors or put potted plants on high shelves that aren\’t reachable, even if an older child stands on a kitchen chair. Cover sharp corners on tables, furniture or fireplace hearths, and secure fireplace openings. Lock up all unsafe foods and beverages. Don\’t light candles. Put away perfumes or sprays. Keep outlets plugged and cords inaccessible. Keep floors as free as you can of lint or other objects that babies will inevitably find and put in their mouths. These things may seem obvious but are often overlooked.

5. Policies and Procedures - If you can, get your hands on a couple of contracts from local day care centers and see how they are worded. Decide which of these policies you need to implement. Some important things to cover include the same things you\’ve researched. Rates, payment options, how much you will charge for late pick-up, behavior matters, and your policy on sick children and last-minute cancellations. Be sure to require two or more emergency contacts, as well as full medical information, including any food allergies or concerns. Have a few trusted and experienced day care providers look over your contract before implementing, to make certain there are no loop holes and that everything is covered.

6. Advertise - Of course, word-of-mouth is the best advertising. Make sure parents have a reason to recommend you to their friends and family. Come up with a brief paragraph that describes your credentials and have a response ready for when parents ask why they should hire you. Check into advertising in your local newspaper, on your church bulletin board, or on Craig\’s List (www.craigslist.com). Also post ads in places where parents hang out with their kids: at the park, the zoo, your local YMCA, or town library.

Now that you have covered much of the planning and preparation for starting your own child care business, it\’s time to get to work!

Truth on MLM - This Mistake Almost Guarantees Your Failure

There was a time in my life I gave up on setting goals in MLM, because it seemed I never achieved any of them. I can’t tell you how many times I targeted myself to knock on a certain number of doors every day. But after one or two people looked cross at me, I was finito. Done for the day.

Usually done for the next day, too.

In some cases, I was done with the entire business!

I Never Ever Considered Suicide

A slow, agonizing, miserable death was much more my style.

I wasn’t a salesman and would NEVER be a salesman. Setting sales-oriented goals was ridiculous, but I did it time after time after time, always thinking, “THIS time it’s different.”

Instead, every MLM goal just meant more frustration & more failure in my life. Who needs that?

And maybe worse, it convinced me that goal-setting doesn’t work.

But the truth on MLM is, you must begin with an Action Plan that you can and will actually, honestly do. And then there’s an art to setting goals. Goals work great if you choose the right kind of goal.

Somewhere along the way, I read an article by some brilliant person, whose name I don’t remember. And what this guy suggested was to set “activity goals.”

In other words, the first thing you do is think really hard. Research and investigate and ask questions of successful network marketers. Develop a step-by-step Action Plan, if you don’t already have one. Then you’ll know what activities will get you where you want to be.

Then you simply target yourself to do a certain amount of those activities every day. Maybe it’s 3 hours. Or 25 letters. Or 5 emails. Or 20 phone calls. Every day.

Results Don’t Matter!

The fact is, results will be invisible for some period of time. So pay no attention to results while you’re learning the process. while you’re learning the process. What matters is that you MUST do actions that have been tested & proven over time to get results.

There’s a subtle but crucial difference here between activity goals & result goals. For instance, in network marketing, you’re setting yourself up for a loss if you start by saying, “I’m going to make $50,000 in my business this year.”

How do you possibly plan and achieve that? You’ll be starting slowly, because you have no customer base. You have no one who will re-order.

Another problem with goals is that they imply limitations. At best, when you reach a goal, you have to re-figure your next goal.

So the truth on MLM is, if you simply target a certain number of certain activities (that you KNOW you can do) each and every day, you’ll never run into that problem. As your business grows, other activities will occur for you to do, and you can target those, too. Your group will grow, you will grow as a person, and that’s exactly what this business is all about.

How To Make Money From Online Paid Surveys

Do you know you that online paid surveys offer one of the easiest ways to make money online? Just give your candid opinion on subjects of interest and get paid. This can be a very rewarding online activity if you go about it the right way. Here is what online paid surveys are and ways to make money from them without getting scammed.

How Paid Surveys Work

When a firm wants to conduct a market research about its products or services it gets the services of a survey or market research company to take the survey for it. The survey or market research site invites its members to take part in the survey and pays them for their time. So the first step for earning from paid surveys is to do is to join survey sites.

Have You Got To Pay?

No, you don’t have to. As market research web sites need users to take surveys they invite people to join their sites so they can carry on their business of conducting surveys for the companies that hire them. Therefore do keep in mind that you need not pay anything to sign up with a survey site. Actually the survey sites need you as much as you need them. This is why some survey web sites pay you joining incentive and also reward you with some money when you get your friends to join the site.

Give Your Detailed Info

When you join a online survey site, it would ask you to provide such personal info as your age, gender, marital status, education level, income, work and interests, country of residence, etc. This profile is used to decide the kinds of surveys that you will be invited for. So give your correct details and update them when necessary. When answering questions, try to be as candid as possible. Tell what you actually feel about a product or service and not what you may think is expected from you.

Sign up with a number of survey sites

As you will not be getting survey invites from a web site every week or fortnight, you need to join a good number of online survey sites so that you can get invited to give your opinions more often. How many sites you sign up with is up to you but do keep the number to a manageable level.

One way to manage various survey sites is to use an email account just for the survey web sites and not use this email for any other correspondence. This way you will not miss any survey invitation that you get.

Also do keep a note of the survey tasks you have completed in a notepad or other file with the details of the survey sites so that you can follow up with them if you are not paid in time.

Online Home Business, Top 3 Tips for Success

What if I told you that most online home businesses offered up were scams?

Would you believe it?

Whether you believe it or not, there is only one sure-fire way to earn an online income.

The only way to earn a consistent living online is to approach online business in the same way you would approach bricks and mortar business. When I first started out, this was my biggest mistake.

Discovering online marketing was like arriving in Vegas for the first time- the bright lights and promises of a good time made me think anything was possible. But, life is not that simple.

After loading my credit card with purchase after purchase of guides and out-of-the-box products, I realized that I wasn’t even going to make back the cost of buying them. Unfortunately, I still had to pay my credit card bills. If this sounds like you, then read on.

Online businesses are doomed to failure. Why? Because people buy them in the mistaken belief that completing payment is the key to a successful business. Buy the guide. Read the guide. Try something. Fail. Give up. Rinse and repeat.

When considering an online business you must think about more than the ad copy on the seller’s web page. Rather than thinking that this is another fifty dollar purchase, think of it as a major investment. Think of this as a real business. Would you buy a franchise and expect it to run itself from day one?

When you purchase your next affiliate guide, do not do so believing it will work for you. You are buying something that is going to assist you to work. Set up a business plan before you decide to buy it. What are you buying it for and how is it going to work for you? Running it as a real business is your fastest way of becoming successful. Remember what they say about failing to plan…

So, in summary, the top three things you need to do to achieve online business success are:

1. Make a business plan before you begin- how will you attack this?
2. Keep your short and long term goals in mind at all times (just be realistic)
3. Don’t expect to become rich overnight- this is the surest way to burn out quickly (I’ve been there).

Keys To A Profitable Home Based Business

The key to success in any business is profitability. Any business can operate indefinitely as long as it is profitable. Few businesses start at a profit, so the goal for any business owner is to move towards profitability as quickly as possible.

To build a profitable home based business, focus on these simple keys:

  • Focus on business growth
  • Be judicious with your expenses
  • Focus on your core offering

One of the most important keys to building a home based business towards profit, is to focus on moving towards growth. Your mindset determines your results. If you focus too much on not being profitable yet, you’ll stay right where you are. If you focus on growth, you’re far more likely to notice opportunities for gain and far more likely to take action on those opportunities.

To get started, and operate your business, you will have some necessary expenses. You will need an advertising budget, a phone line, office supplies, and so on. Without these, you won’t be able to operate your business, so don’t restrict those expenses just because you’re not profitable yet.

On the other hand, there are many expenses you may not need. They do not contribute to the growth of your business and only serve to consume your cash. If you’re still moving your business towards profitability, consider your expenses carefully and choose things that actually contribute to growing your business.

Restricting your expenses can only take your business so far. Profit requires income. To develop any business, you need to promote it. That word is scary to some people but it simply means to make known.

By making people aware that you are in business, people can do business with you. This may seem obvious but many people who struggle with success in a home based business do not spend enough time promoting it.

If you have more than one product to promote, consider focusing on a main product as you promote your business. You can always educate your customers about your other products later on. By doing this, you will be more agile in your business and able to be more effective in your actions.

If you’re still looking for a home based business, just getting started or have been working at it for a while, it’s never too early or too late to focus on moving in the right direction. By operating your home based business with these three keys in mind, you will be in a great position for success.

How To Start A Home-Based Business - What Everybody Ought To Know

What Everybody Ought To Know… About How To Start A Home-Based Business

Thought about having your own home business?

Who hasn’t right?

In these days and times, it is becoming a “must”. It is so hard to make ends meet with the pay of a regular 9-5 job. …Not including that most jobs are going nowhere, leave you stuck in a rut, don’t make you ecstatic about getting up in the morning, and provide no financial freedom.

So, here are 3 tips that everyone should know about starting a home business.

1. You must pick the right market to sell your products to. The market must be motivated, passionate, or desperately searching to find a solution to a problem, which you can solve. Also, the market must be easy to find, easy to reach, and easy to sell to. In order for them to be easy to sell to, they must have money, the authority to make a buying decision, and be extremely passionate about whatever they are interested in.

2. You have to change the way you think. You must believe that you can be a success and have a successful home-based business. For some people, this will be easy, and for other people, this will take some work. The first step is to review your self-talk, and to discover if it is negative or positive. If you have negative self-talk, then you need to try to look at things in a more positive light. Something that will help with that is visualization. Close your eyes and picture exactly how you want your life to be, be very specific and defined. Picture exactly how you want your perfect day to be and start to work towards that goal, never letting go of that picture.

3. Focus on multi-step marketing, on the front end. What this means is that the first step your marketing should capture the contact information of the prospect or visitor; thus, lead generation. Once you have their contact information, then you can redirect them to your sales page, affiliate page, adsense page or any other place you desire. Now that you have generated a lead, you can continue to follow-up with them anytime that you want, and you have singled out the truly interested prospects. The list size and quality of the list is what gives your business value, and will allow you to make money, in the short-term and in the long run, consistently over and over.

These three tips will help you get a good start towards building a solid foundation for your home-based business.

An MLM Goldmine Buried In Your “Inner Muck”?

A basic reason so many people fail in MLM is that their heart isn’t in it. They want to make extra money, they NEED to make extra money, they want to do it on their own, no boss, work their own hours, be able to do what they want when they want, go on vacations when they want, all the stuff associated with MLM success … but for whatever reason they have no passion for their company, and it’s obvious.

When you talk to an MLM prospect, you need a mix of objectivity and passion. You have to be objective, because hype will turn off your prospect. You have to be passionate, because if you aren’t, how can they get excited? It can be a tough line to walk at times, but you must figure it out, if you want to be successful.

It May Seem Obvious, But Passion Is Not Logic

They are two separate parts of your presentation. You build your team one person at a time. And what you say to that one person is your own emotional outpouring of words, feelings and impressions.

People make decisions based on emotion. If you want a person to make the decision to join your team, you have to get them into an emotional frame of mind.

Picture your network marketing prospect. They are stuck. They are slowly going down the drain financially (or maybe not so slowly). Then the car broke down, and it’s $1,200 to repair it. They’ve got to have more income. Their spouse is very nervous. The kids KNOW there’s a problem. Then, to the amazement of their family, they find YOU and your team - who actually train them and help them build that income source they need so desperately. A dream? Absolutely not!

You’ve got to understand their struggles and make sure they know it. And show them that when they join you and the rest of your team, many - maybe all - of the reasons for their struggles will be over.

They could never get their questions answered before? You have an online forum, open 24/7, with hundreds of participants ready to answer any question.

The marketing materials those other companies put out never worked? You have marketing specialists on your team, people trained to create marketing documents that get results. You’ll provide them at no charge.

Their upline never trained them? You provide 17 MLM training calls every week, and if their schedule doesn’t fit, audio files of the calls are available online.

They burned all their friends and family? You provide a tested, proven lead generation system they can use to find a never-ending stream of interested people to talk to.

Sure, these dialogues are examples of logic … but they are real answers to a very emotional prospect question: Can anybody help me be successful in network marketing?

Each Word You Use Has an Emotional Attachment

It’s almost like a short story. John Caples, a legendary direct marketer, once changed a single word in an ad (”repair” became “fix”) and he got a 20% increase in response. You can Google-search “powerful selling words” and find lists of words with strong emotional appeal.

Can you be more emotional when talking to an MLM prospect? Just dig deep into your “inner muck” and find your own powerful emotion, then communicate THAT to your prospect.

When you nail it, you will know!

Working At Home - Questions That Should Be Asked

Over recent years, more and more people have wanted to work from home. This trend may be because families need the extra income due to the higher cost of living, or maybe it is because parents simply want to be at home with their families more often, perhaps it is a combination of these reasons, or another reason altogether. Whatever the motivation may be for wanting to work at home, there are several questions that a person may ask, and should ask himself or herself before committing to this idea.

The first question should be, “where can I find a legitimate company to work for from my home?” There are thousands of websites available all promoting work at home jobs, and there are probably just as many websites warning people of the scams associated with most of these work at home opportunities. A person may spend many hours researching different companies and opportunities and never really know what a safe choice is. There are a couple of guidelines that are not new, but are worth repeating. If a company asks a person to pay to work for them, it is probably a scam. Another guideline to keep in mind is that companies saying a person can make a lot of money very quickly without any work is normally a scam as well. Work at home is just that, it is a job or business, if it is legitimate, it will usually take effort and time to earn money, and even then the money may not be a large amount, depending on the type of job. When there is doubt, or a person wants reassurance, a good resource is the Better Business Bureau.

Another question to ask if “What am I good at, what skills do I have and what interests me?” Sometimes this question will help determine the type of work to go into. If a person loves to write, a freelance career may be a great option. Many companies hire writers to write articles from home. The pay will not be consistent but a person may find the work very rewarding. If a person loves to talk to people, a sales job may be great. While there are scams to watch out for, there are also plenty of at home marketing jobs that are legitimate available as well. A person seriously considering a work at home career could also talk to businesses that may offer telecommuting positions. Along with finding businesses that offer this type of job, it requires an application, resume, and experience in the field, and going through the interview process. While it may be harder to find a job like this, and be hired for one, it is probably the best choice since it is most likely the job is not fraudulent and it would be a more consistent income.

The next question to ask is “Do I have the dedication and time to work from home?” This is a very important question to ask. Many people think that by working at home they will be able to do what they want when they want and life will be much less complicated for them. Often the reverse is true. A person must be dedicated to working a certain amount of time daily in order to be successful; this is even more true for the telecommuting jobs described earlier since a person will be responsible for working so many hours weekly or accomplishing a certain amount of work on a consistent basis. Distractions come up at home that may not come up working at an office and a person considering working from home must know how he or she will handle these distractions.
The last question to ask is “How much money do I need or want to make working at home?” If this is meant to replace a current full time income, the person needs to be very careful about the work at home career he or she chooses. Some jobs will take a lot longer to start making money then others, and others may never provide the person with an income; the person should not quite his or her full time job until the work at home job is making the desired amount of money. If the job is simply to give a person an extra income, without a certain amount needed each month, then there are many more options available.

Working from home can be rewarding. It gives a person more flexibility and time with family since typically the person is free to choose his or her own hours, which could be worked around the family’s schedule. There is less expenses involved since there is no commute so gas money is saved and going out for lunch does not have as frequently, and money is saved on business clothing since a person may even choose to work in his or her pajamas. As long as the person has researched the company, knows what is involved and expected in the job, and is confident that he or she can balance work and family, there is no reason why a person should not consider working from home.
