Forums and the Town Hall

In the past, and sometimes even today, town hall meetings were (are) used to inform individuals in a community about events, projects and perspectives that would have some impact on those in attendance.

Sometimes these meetings were to inform the public of new projects of policies that might change the way certain things are handled in a community. Leaders who call town hall meetings do so in order to explain their perspective, invite questions and welcome feedback.

Sometimes these events get heated with emotional energy flowing throughout the building. Misunderstandings occur and feelings are stepped on. Leaders must step in and help guide the conversation while seeking to moderate the overall discussion.

Politicians often encourage this kind of gathering in order to explain what they stand for and what they stand against. The questions posed help to either galvanize individuals to help elect the politician or it convinces them there must be a better candidate.

Town hall meetings have even gone hi-tech as global meetings and debate are conducted using video streaming technology and then archived for later review. The Internet provides a tool for online business owners to use as a means of soliciting debate, entertaining questions or stating personal opinion. This tool is known as forums.

The role of forums in business may be limited to simply allowing individuals to voice opinions on your product, service or industry in general. However it can also be a catalyst for conversation regarding company policy, direction or industry perspectives.

For instance if you are involved in an industry and you do not share the specific views of most in regard to the direction the industry is going your business forum can provide a means of stating your dissenting opinion and allowing others to discuss the merits of your argument.

You can do the same thing via a business blog, but a forum allows individuals to more freely converse about your perspectives and share their own point of view. The result is a cyber town hall meeting for those most concerned with the issues you are addressing.

Forums are perfect opportunities to allow full personal expression by potential consumers. It also allows you to interact with consumers in a way that provides an opportunity to explain issues that may be difficult to accept at first read.

This format for conversation often feels very much like community. Obviously this is a community you may never see, but the psychology of the Internet indicates there often becomes an emotional attachment by those who regularly use this medium of connectivity. Forums, blogs and social media sites are prime emotional connections for online users.

It is not uncommon for online users to gravitate toward their computers many times throughout the day in an effort to connect with individuals from other parts of the world on issues they feel strongly about. Your online business forum could be the place where connections are made. Bring the town hall to your business website it may be the perfect way for visitors to develop an emotional attachment to your brand.

Forum Marketing Secrets

Forum marketing can be a very profitable exercise when you
start your internet business. Use forum marketing to drive
high quality visitors to your website for free. Once you
are making money you can reinvest the profits into paid
marketing like ezines and ppc. The significant factor with
forum marketing is that you need to do your research on
which forums to post regularly on. Target the wrong forums
and your efforts could be in vain. You need to find forums
directly related to your product or service. So for example
if you sell internet marketing products then target
internet marketing forums like the Warriors forum.

The key factor with making forum marketing work is that you
need to establish credibility and get the other forum
visitors to trust you first. Avoid posts that are like spam
where you post only to try and get the forum visitors to
visit your website. Post regularly and answer posts with
insight. Over time you will establish your reputation and
forum visitors will trust you and follow your
recommendations and signature links.

When you join a forum there usually is a signature that you
have to fill out. This signature is crucial for your
success as every time you post you will have the chance of
a visitor being able to visit your website. Make sure that
you spend a lot of time initially to create a powerful
signature. Often they will allow you to use html here and
make sure that your signature has your unique selling
proposition that will make the forum visitors want to click
through to your website.

Having links from different forums will definitely boost
your search engine rankings. Post on different forums and
make sure to include your anchor text for your different
targeted keywords in your signature. Using this method of
forum marketing you will drive targeted visitors from the
forums and also increase your targeted visitors from search
engines.

Forums - Finding Someone to Post First

The use of a forum can be an effective means of understanding your customers. However, the start-up of a forum can be a bit like attending a get-together where no one wants to be the first to say something.

Most get-togethers require some sort of icebreaker and the same is true for a forum. You can hope for the best and eventually a few people will post, but the most successful forums are often the ones that already have a visible history of posts where a visitor can easily sound off on an existing thread or conversation.

So how do you make your forum a desired online destination when you initialize the message board?

Well, there are a couple of ways to encourage your visitors to post.

Contests

You can develop contests for your visitors to participate in. This can be tied to most active member (no spam or meaningless posts allowed) or it can simply be a random drawing from all active members. It can also be tied to a variety of other creative criteria.

Paid Forum Posts

There are several companies that can provide a team of forum posters that can help infuse your site with as many posts as you need. These companies utilize a freelance posting staff who are paid on each qualifying post they make..

Many of these services do a good job of making sure your interests are protected and invite other new members to participate in the dialogue. This type of service is generally not used long-term, but simply as a way to kick start (or jump start in some cases) a new or existing forum.

If you chose to use a service like this feel free to ask for certain restrictions on the type of posts you will accept. For example most forum boards have a general topic area. You might state that whoever is being paid for forum posts cannot post to the general topic area. This type of post is very easy to do and may not provide a meaningful platform for other members to jump from in relation to the business specific topics you are hoping to grow.

At some point you will likely stop using a fee-based posting service, but by then you may likely discover the regulars are beginning to talk amongst themselves anyway.

Don’t be discouraged if your forum doesn’t take off right away. Sometimes forums just need a little help getting started.

Are You a Victim Of Cyber Stalking?

It is funny, in a sad way, that no matter what form of communication we use people can find negative uses for it and find ways to make other peoples lives hell. Now with the ‘always on’ world that we live in it is becoming increasingly easy for people to get to you for good and bad purposes.

Maybe it is the apparent anonymity of text messages, emails and chatrooms that has fuelled the sharp increase in cyber-bullying in recent years? I mean in a face to face situation the person usually has to have some power over you, being bigger than you, being higher up in an organisation, or being in company when you are not. All those are situations where a bully will start to emerge and stalk their prey, but behind the electronic shield of modern communications then it could be a 11 year old child who is bullying an adult!

Yes that’s right, it is not just children who are victims of cyber-bullying, adults are just as susceptible if not more (due to adults having accumulated more problems they want to take out on people). A recent survey by i-SAFE inc shows 42% of kids have been bullied online and 58% of kids have been subjected to hurtful communications online, so the figure for adults may be even higher…

So what can you do? Nobody should be subjected to any sort of harassment in my opinion and should not even have to try and avoid it, but if you do need to then there are methods you can use.

The first technique is to change your details, change your email address, change your chatroom name, change your mobile number or house phone number, this should prevent that person from contacting you. Of course they can identify you again, from your messages, or try and find out your new home number etc, even worse, they could spread malicious information about you all over the internet in frustration.

The second technique is to try and get some official sources involved. Contact the chatroom owners, if the perpetrator contacts you via email go to their email provider or internet service provider, even better, go to the police! Of course none of these may be able to, or be willing to help, so in steps technique number three…

The third technique is to fight them on their own ground, did you know you can hire a Private Investigator to trace email addresses, phone numbers, even identify withheld or blocked numbers that keep calling you? With that information in hand you can then set about getting the police involved or just take away their anonymity, if you let them know that you are aware they live just three doors up from you then they will probably stop for good!

You either fight or flee, either way can work, but do not let the bullying continue by stubbornly refusing to let it affect your life and change your details or seek help, the psychological strain is just not worth it.

The author has over 10 years experience in tracking down and identifying cyber criminals. He has expanded and developed these internet tracing skills into the areas of catching cheating spouses online and locating runaway kids or dangerous bail jumpers with only an email address or screen name.

The Real Value Of Forums

Online forums are everywhere these days and come in a variety of topics as diverse and widespread as the most fertile imagination can conjure up. The combined membership of all online forums adds up to many millions of people from all around the globe. People who form the individual communities of these forums are busy posting daily on topics of all subjects. Let’s take a look at one particular sector of the forum world, the work at home, or online business forms.

There are many hundreds of forums that cater for the work at home, or online business people. Of these, there are really only a generous handful of top forums in this genre. The members of these top forums are the serious home workers who have accumulated a vast collective knowledge and experience base between them. Alongside them are the newcomers to the working from home business. People post as much as possible when they have the time which results in a rich, diverse collection of knowledge and information. Therein is the true value of these forums

It follows then, that work at home forums are not just great places to learn from and meet new people in the process. They’re the essential building blocks of an online business.

Why is that?

Well, while not all of the members of forums work at home, or are involved in running their own online business, most of them are busy trying to make a living online from an enormous variety of different sources. It’s because there are so many people involved in online business that it’s important to network amongst others in similar situations. This is because the internet is a vast repository of knowledge and information and it is changing all the time.

If people don’t keep up to date with what’s happening in the online business world, they could be contentedly making a decent online income one day and the next find that their comfortable rug has been unceremoniously yanked out from under their warm cosy feet!

One of the best methods of keeping up to date with what’s happening and changing online is by regularly visiting good forums that are related to work at home online business and that have a good, solid, experienced and knowledgeable membership.

By regularly keeping in touch with each other and keeping up with the current online news, which can be found in these forums, everyone will all be aware of any changes that are either happening or are in the pipeline that could affect online business or income sources.

It is also in these forums that we find out about the latest releases of software, the latest products, strategies or packages as they are released into the cyber market-place. More importantly, this is where we’ll hear any feedback that the experienced members are able to give. By reading this important feedback the newer work at home members will stand a better chance of avoiding the scams and rip-offs that so often infiltrate the system and be aware of any really good products or service that are recommended by trusted and well known members.

It is also through forums that we get to know about each other’s businesses, opportunities and recommendations. This enables all online workers to widen their own business horizons. By visiting other members’ websites and blogs, they can see first hand how these people are presenting their businesses to their customers that will, in turn fuel the creative fires of others and get them creating more great sites, rather than the poorly thrown together, ad-filled efforts of the past.

Forums are also the perfect places for people to promote their own websites, blogs and online businesses using the “soft” method. This is done by posting interesting topics that other members will want to read, while subtly displaying the all-important links at the end of the posts in the signatures. By deliberately not spamming ads all over the place, we gain respect from the online community who will be happy to help others in making a success of their online businesses.

So all in all, online forums really are the proverbial win-win situation for those involved in online marketing or work at home businesses. This truly proves the real value of forums.

Forums are a great way to promote your website and online business. Traffic From Forums - Create More Money In Forums

Generating traffic from forums and making money in forums goes hand in hand, in my opinion. You see, everything we do on the internet, if it is going to make us money, is generally about creating and converting traffic.

Think about it – the only time you make money is when you get someone to buy from a sales page, or pay you for a service. And how do you get people to do that? You have to have traffic – that is the bottom line. But just because you have traffic doesn’t mean that you are out of the woods – you still have to convert that traffic. But without traffic, you aren’t converting anything.

So you may be thinking – well I make money with my list – and that is not traffic. Why, yes it is – think about it – with a list, you are simply driving traffic – sure, your own traffic, but traffic nevertheless – you are driving traffic to your web site with your list.

And generating traffic from forums is just about that – getting people to your sales pages and your squeeze pages. And I say squeeze pages because I really think that something that is really important is to get people onto your list. You see, if they are on your list, they are not just traffic once, but they are traffic forever.

So the key to making money with the forums is to drive traffic from the forums to your squeeze page so that you can create long-term traffic out of them. That is the real key – getting long term traffic out of them.

By the way, I get the bulk of my traffic from article marketing. Article marketing produces my highest level and quality of traffic and profits in my online business

Traffic Creation - Traffic Creation Using Forums

The world of internet has seen virtually (literally) an explosion in the field of forums. You just have to type in the word forums with any combination in the search engines you like and see the result for yourself. There would be thousands and thousands of results for every search for Online Business Forums or for Network Marketing Forums. Forums are a common ground for people from all backgrounds to meet and exchange ideas.

The best thing about forums is that people who are experts as well people who are novice in a given field are both present there and communicate with each other. In this way they are able to learn as well as exchange ideas with each other on a wide range of topics. But on the same count, it could also be used as a great platform to advertise your business and your products.

If you are going to post keeping in mind the advertisement angle, always look for the threads with the maximum activity. It is generally seen that the Main Discussion threads on forums get the most posts. That is why you would do well to concentrate on the same. If you have a topic that is interesting and has the potential to attract a lot of activity, you can surely start your own thread. All this would allow you to collect a lot of posts and a number of backlinks to your site. And that is what, is your primary goal with forums.

How To Create Money Out Of Thin Air Through Forum Marketing

Can you make money without money?

Conventional wisdom says no.

The Internet has made a lot of things possible. We now can communicate with people on the other side of the world for free, can watch any music video we like in a few mouse clicks, and find information on any subject we want in a matter of seconds.

It has made what was once considered miracles now possible.

Many go to church every weekend, meditate or some in other way show that they believe in divine intervention, yet don’t believe in miracles. They listen to their doubts instead of acting in faith.

So back to the original question, can one make money without any money? Well the answer is what you want it to be.

Let me show you a step-by-step system for making money out of thin air that you can try in your free time:

STEP ONE: Go to http://dir.yahoo.com/ and find a niche you are interested to know about from the groups on the left.

STEP TWO: Head over to www.associateprograms.com and find an affiliate program related to a product in this niche. Sign up for free.

STEP THREE: Go to www.dot.tk and get a free .tk domain name. For example, your domain will look like this: www.YourWebsite.tk

STEP FOUR: Set a redirect from the control panel to the affiliate program’s URL. (This will be proovided to you when you sign up for the program)

STEP FIVE: Find three forums relating to your niche. Type ”’your niche’ forums” in Google and you will find a list of forums targetted to your niche.

STEP SIX: Create a signature file promoting your .tk URL. For example, “Discover The Home-Made Secrets Of Curing Sore Throats - Fast. Click Here To Find Out More”

STEP SEVEN: Spend 45 minutes a day posting at these forums. Post useful content, questions. Whenever someone sees your signature, they may click through and buy from your link. Your posts may remain in circulation for years to come, creating a small residual income stream.

STEP EIGHT: Rinse and repeat.

Cost of all this? $0! It is all profit from the word go…

MLM Forum Advertising

One of the most common means to successfully recruit people into multi level marketing schemes is by holding MLM forum advertising events. The usual leads that individuals that belong to multi level marketing schemes resort to getting their friends and family to by in on the program and that is how their pyramids are built.

However, with friends and family alone, the downward pyramid building will halt to a stop quicker than anyone intended. To prevent this from happening and to provide new leads for building a continuous down line, MLM forum advertising events are held.

You know you are being invited to an MLM forum advertising event when an acquaintance or someone not too close to you invites you to an event and promises you good food and perhaps the promise of an interesting seminar but remains vague about any concrete details except for the time, place and the fact that if you bring friends and other people to the event then that would be better. You have been just clearly invited to an MLM forum advertising event.

An MLM forum advertising event is a venue for the individuals who are members to recruit the crowd that shows up and add them all to growing downward pyramid. To wow and enthrall prospects, these MLM forum advertising events are held in posh venues with good food and drink for people who attend. This gives the impression that the business is thriving and is worth a person’s trust.

Next, thing that can be noted from these MLM forum advertising events is that several members of the pyramid will give especially dramatic testimonials about how the multi level marketing program had saved his or her life one way or another. In these MLM forum advertising events, it is not enough for people to give testimonials about how much money they earned and continue to earn.

These MLM forum advertising events are venues for the pyramid members to entice the other non members to join by using emotional stories like how a person who may have been at the end of his or her rope and was in dire need of money to get our of a scrape.

The usual emotional hits would be needing money for a seriously ill loved one or needing money to save their home from being repossessed. Then of course the testimonials will say how they turned to the multi level marketing program as their last hope and just at the very last minute, their money problems were solved and by the looks of things, they will never have money problems again.

That is how a typical MLM forum advertising event goes. These testimonials are designed to emotionally hook the listeners and make them want to join the program, providing fresh layers to the downward pyramid. Perhaps the reason why these MLM forum advertising can be very successful is not only because of the emotional success stories that they hear but because the people who giving the testimonials will tell the crowd that they are sharing their stories because they want to b e able to share the secret of success and wealth to them.

Of course they don’t mention that they are being recruited so that their own incomes from the pyramid continue to come in.

Forum Communities

In book stores across the country there will likely be a discussion group meeting soon. These groups get together to discuss a book, break down plots, work to discover the meaning of the author’s work and find fellowship with other likeminded readers. This is the premise behind the use of forums in online business.

Just like a writer you have prepared something for the public to enjoy. A forum provides that ‘discussion group’ where those who possess mild curiosity can meet with those who are ardent fans of your products or services.

Unlike a writer, however, you are able to check in to see what’s being said at any time. There is, in a very real sense, a community that can develop among those who use your products or services.

When a customer has discovered a unique use for a product they will likely share it in a forum. When a customer has a question about a product they may feel most comfortable using a forum. When a customer has concerns they may share them first on a forum.

Because loneliness has become a common theme in life, the advent of a forum board allows a totally new definition of community. Most forum members do not know each other, many would not consent to meeting other members, yet the forum is a common connection point and these members are happy with discussing a broad range of issues in the context of anonymity.

When you make a forum available to your online visitors you are telling them that collectively they are important. Their views are important and you believe that they have a right to visit with other individuals who use your products or services.

If we look back at the opening paragraph we understand that not everyone coming to the book discussion group will have the same interpretations, nor will each member find 100% common ground when discussing the book, this is the same scenario outlined in forum use. By appealing to a great cross-section of users you really do get the greatest sense of community possible. In fact, you would not want every member to act and react the same way. If everyone feels and does things the exact same way of what value is the forum. It can only be seen as a mutual admiration society and not a true community.

Don’t be frightened by diversity among forum members, it can actually be a bonus to online discussions. Just make sure the forum is moderated for those moments when things get more heated than they should. It’s always good to have a few forum firefighters on the job – for your sake and your forum members.
