Online Business? Forget it - Without Blog Posting

If you are looking to improve your internet home based business and to draw more customers to your website, you may have to think about using a blog. A business blog can make potential customers come back daily to see what is happening. However, you do need to set the blog up correctly as well as run it efficiently, too. So just what is the best way to set up and run a business blog?

What You Need to Consider
In order to have a good, successful online business blog, you need to first think about several things including:

• Who is your target audience?
• What do you want the customer to learn from the blog?
• What advertising opportunities could your blog give you?
• How often are you able to update it?

All of the above are important factors to start an online business. By researching your target audience, you will be able to create blog content that appeals to them. It is pointless to write a blog that your potential customers are not interested in, so always make sure that it is relevant to both your business and your potential customers.

Also give a lot of thought into what you want your customers to learn from these business blogs. Do you want them to learn about new key to internet success that you are providing? Is there any relevant news that might be of interest to your customers? Think about what the customer might want to learn about and that will help you to develop appropriate content for the blog.

Another important consideration regarding the blog is what you can advertise to your customers through it? You might be able to use Google Adsense, which will pay you each time a customer clicks on the link through your blog in a way you can make extra money. Or perhaps you want to advertise certain products or services that your business offers? Whatever it is, your blog gives you the chance to advertise and put in more keywords than you would normally be able to.

Finally, you need to ideally update your blog daily or at least, frequently which is a key to internet success. If you do not update the blog very often, your customers will not want to come back and read it. By keeping things fresh and updated they will know that your business is constantly updating, it is constantly working and it will make them want to come back to check up on what is happening.

Setting up a blog is fairly simple and you can even pay a specially designed company to set one up for you. Just remember that you need to constantly update and advertise on the blog to keep customers informed and coming back for more.

Free Traffic - You’re Two Steps Away

All websites need traffic to succeed. If you own a website you already know this. You might be paying for the domain name, web hosting, website development, etc. All this can drain your funds rather quickly. The answer is to make sure you have traffic – that converts – as soon as possible. The answer is not just free traffic but converting traffic. Since not all traffic generation methods are the same, I will give you two methods you can easily begin to implement. They both work effectively and take very little time.

1. Give Testimonials -
I have seen many new information products where the creator is looking for testimonials. These are almost always worth submitting. Your testimonial could appear on thousands of websites. And if it’s a new product that does well, everyone that visits the website will read your testimonial.

How often do you read the testimonials before you buy a product? The great thing about testimonials is you can leave your website url for others to see. But what if the product has been out for a long time and the creator is not looking for more testimonials – send one anyway. If you really enjoyed a product, let people know.

And guess what? People that have successful products tend to make more. So if they know you have volunteered a testimonial they may be more willing to solicit your testimonial for their next product. They may also send out your testimonial in an e-mail. Unsolicited testimonials are excellent ways to promote a product. Again, your testimonial and website url could be e-mailed to thousands.

2. Leave messages -
Other websites allow you to post messages where you can include your website url in a post. People that post tend to read others’ posts. You should read other posts before you do so (assuming there are not thousands). You should also look for websites that are newer with fewer posts. This way yours can be near the top and thousands may read it – plus your website url is getting around the internet.

Other places to leave messages include the popular MySpace, Squidoo and many other social networking sites. You should not only post on the sites under the “big names” in internet marketing but try to identify others that are focussed to your niche. Again, the name of the game is traffic that converts.

Giving testimonials and leaving messages both have worked for me and I continue to use them today, among many other free traffic strategies. They are easy to do and you probably already use the products and visit the websites. Now just give testimonials of the product and leave messages. Good luck!

Nine Important Steps to an Effective Online Marketing Program

1. Determine your goals for your website. How will you drive traffic to your website? Plan for this up front, while developing your website. If search engines are important to you, then proceed to step 2.

2. Allocate a budget to online marketing and search engines. It’s as important as what you spend for designing and hosting your website. The budget you set will instruct these further steps you should take:

3. Optimize your website during design to perform well in search engines. Make sure it contains the correct density of keywords important in searches.

4. Make a commitment to keep your content fresh. Augment content as frequently as practicable, because search engines reward rich content.

5. Devote resources (your time or the money to hire others) to actively work on search engine placement. Monitor your ranking weekly or monthly in the major search engines for key search terms; this can be done manually or you can utilize automated software to produce a monthly or weekly ranking report. Even if you plan to focus on free “organic” rankings, plan to set up Pay-Per-Click accounts at Google and Yahoo. All companies that want traffic from search engines should consider PPC a basic cost, as essential as paying your monthly hosting bill. The budget can be as little as $20 a month … or much more, depending upon how aggressive you want to be.

6. Promote links to your website from your trading partners, in directories, through reciprocal links and discrete paid placements. “Link popularity” is highly important to search engine rankings. Monitor who links to you, and also who links to your competitors. Get as many links coming into your website as possible. Use viral marketing strategies, like posts or links from forums, bulletin boards, social websites like myspace and more.

7. Install a good statistics package. And review it frequently so you know what is happening with your website. Statistics will tell you if you are successful in getting people to your website. If you are having success in traffic but realizing few sales, that means you need to work on your “conversion” of website visitors by improving your products or improving the functionality and usability of your website..

8. Periodically measure progress in ranking and make adjustments to keywords and content as part of a regular maintenance program - at least monthly.

9. Submit your site URL to as many free sites as possible. Self-promote yourself by writing articles, placing ads on bulletin boards, e-zines, group sites etc.

Easing the Nervous Buyer

After you’ve worked hard to put your product or program together, and spent the time and effort to write a compelling sales page for it, you don’t want to lose your potential customer or client right at the moment they are sitting there with credit card in hand - at the order link or order form.

Here’s a checklist of 6 ways to make sure that doesn’t happen:

__1. Reaffirm the decision

At the top of your order form, add a box that gives a synopsis of all the benefits your buyer gets for their purchase. List the features, the bonuses, and the guarantee. And tell them again that they’ve made the right decision.

There’s another benefit to adding this ‘here’s what you get in a nutshell’ box at the top of your order form. If your buyer is like me, they may skip through a sales page and go right to the order link to see the price. It’s the price isn’t right there, they will likely click on the order link to be taken to your order form to find out how much your offering is.

Now, most of us don’t buy solely based on price, so in order to increase your chances of making the sale to someone like me, giving me the snapshot version helps me make the choice to indeed buy. (Your current clients and customers will thank you for this, too, since they already know they want to buy, and they just want the digest version of what they’re getting.)

__2. Add a short testimonial

Give your buyer one more head-nod that they are making the right decision by adding a brief testimonial on the order form. Even just one sentence from a happy customer can make a difference in whether or not your reader enters their payment information.

__3. Give alternative payment options

Some people still don’t like to give their credit card information online, so be sure to give them other ways to order. For example, allow them to order by phone or fax, and give that information right on the order form.

__4. Make it Confidental and 100% secure

Be sure to explain that your ordering and payment system is safe for them to make a purchase. And of course, make sure it is!

__5. Follow-up with a confirmation email

Assure your buyer that their order was successfully placed and that it’s not lost in cyberspace. Congratulate them again for their investment and tell them exactly what to expect next.

__6. Respond promptly to questions or issues

No matter how easy you’ve made the buying process, some people will still have questions or get stuck due to technical glitches. Add an email address and/or phone number where they can reach you right away for help.

As much as you can, make the process of buying from you as easy and painless as possible. Take your prospect by the hand and walk them through each step, reassuring them along the way, and I guarantee you’ll make more sales AND create a deeper level of customer trust and loyalty.

The Cell Phone as a Network Marketing Tool

Successful network marketing by way of Internet marketing can often be a well-planned mix of other media resources in addition to the Web. Some of the top Internet marketing gurus are starting to realize that their home based business, or even the large corporation down the street, may benefit from a mix of Web site and other Internet marketing and mobile ad campaigning. With businesses such as network marketing , MLM and others that speak especially to an audience of adults 35 or younger, mobile advertising is nearly as effective – and sometimes more so - than Internet marketing.

Short Messaging Service, the use of a code of one to five numbers used to create contact between consumers and advertisers, is having much success, when combined with Internet, print, blog, e-zine and even pre-movie cinema advertising. Advertisers appear on a slide show presentation in a theatre before a movie, or in a small classified ad, on a Web Site, in a magazine, on a billboard, on the side of a truck, or even in a rest room. They are encouraged to respond by texting code 12345 for more information on that great looking house for sale, or to enter the contest, or to find out about that student loan. An autoresponder automatically replies to thank them for texting and to tell them they’ll be called or emailed shortly, or to ask them to go to such and such a site or make such and such a call, or take whatever action the advertiser determines.

Texting is a great “hip” way of getting the attention of the 18-25 year old crowd, and a way of marrying a print campaign or some other such as billboard that, unlike Internet marketing, has limits due to space and cost. The newspaper or the billboard, or the 30 second radio or TV spot can say, “For more info text 54321.”

There is at least one mobile ad vendor that not only works with Internet marketing and other gurus, home based business owners, corporate executives, and even community non-profits to help them plan their mobile ad campaign. The vendor provides an Internet-based user-friendly administrative back end system that allows the advertiser to set up text messages for multiple campaigns and provides great reporting features. The advertiser will know the phone number of each consumer that replies, complete with the date and time of their reply and which campaign they responded too. These replies will come in handy to create a subscriber network, and an opt-in list for e-mail and other marketing campaigns.

Often these mobile ad campaigns can be the network that brings the consumer to the Internet, and the advertiser’s Web site. It could be as simple as someone attending a football game on a Saturday afternoon, seeing the ad on the ball field board to text the local Sports Authority for a chance to win an autographed player jersey. The SMS code might say “thanks for your text. Answer this question right, and we’ll give you the Web address to enter the contest” – and then the baseball trivia question appears on the cell phone. Of course, the Internet phase could be left out altogether, but then the advertiser would lose the opportunity to display the great new products and specials in all their splendor on its engaging site.

The best thing, perhaps, about mobile ad campaigns is that people who respond are immediate leads. While the advertiser only has their phone number it’s easy to set up an autoresponder back that asks for name, address, and even date of birth, allegedly to confirm they’re old enough to enter the contest. When it comes to giving out personal information, more people will give more information willingly in your Internet marketing campaign than anywhere else. It’s easy to request registration – consumers have come to expect it. And they’ll expect it of a mobile advertising campaign as well. You then have your opt-in list and your marketing network is growing.

Who Loves Money Another Pre-Launch

Another pre-launch has hit the internet marketing community. It seems we are seeing a new one just about every week. The motives behind these pre-launches could be one of many reasons. I feel the top two are market testing and hype. The ones to be aware of are those who have a long pre-launch period and want you to pay before the launch. This has happened and they are still looking for those two scam artist.

The newest Pre-launch is called “Who Loves Money” and it’s launch date is slated for May 1st 2007. It is written by two 25 year old guys from Victoria British Columbia, Canada. They have published two previous ebooks, Beating Adwords and Inside the List. They also have a monthly subscription program called Wealthy Affiliate.

Because I’m a marketer I’m always looking for new marketing ideas, but because I’m also suspicious of pre-launches I decided to check these guys out. I checked out their two previous e-books and didn’t come up with any negatives. I checked out Wealthy Affiliate and was very impressed with the sales page and after checking out the authors I joined so I could take a closer look.

Here is some of the information I found about the authors of “Who Loves Money.” Their names are Carson and Kyle and they have been marketing on the internet for about 4 years and appear to be very successful internet marketers. Below I have a couple of quotes from their mission statements which gives some insight into their philosophy.

Kyle: “I thoroughly enjoy working with others online to help them become independently free. I believe that Internet marketing is an opportunity for everyone, young or old. There are so many online businesses that prey on people for the sole purpose to make money. I am against this approach and I believe that those who are truly successful in business and build for longevity are interested in creating a group of successful people around them.”

Carson: “My goal is to create the absolute BEST Internet Marketing community, and change the way that people learn about online business. Until now, Internet Marketing has been a very solo, and personal thing as one doesn’t want to give away their “secrets”. My Philosophy is that by sharing your knowledge with others, they will share back, and all involved will grow at a much faster rate.”

They are calling Who Loves Money their “pride and joy” and it has the same ideas, techniques, stategies, and things they use in marketing, which they say sets them apart from other marketers. They feel people can become better marketers and rise above the crowd by taking advantage of the techniques in their book. You can implement these techniques without any investment and at zero risk. They call them Penny Pincher Traffic techniques.

Also included in the e-book is how to determine which keywords sell, how to hunt niches and an In-depth look at Clickbank.

This e-book is worth looking into especially if it delivers all they say it’s going to deliver. If it’s even close to the quality of Wealthy Affiliate you can’t go wrong.

They are also including some incentives for people who register before May 1. $50 USD and a discount on launch day if you sign up before the Who Loves Money launch.

Banner Exchange Advertising

I remember when banners were a big thing. You have to understand, until banners came into being, web pages were pretty dull to look at. Suddenly there were these huge 600 by 200, or whatever size they might have been, graphical monstrosities popping up all over the place with wild designs and big letters in the center that screamed “Click Me!” and banner exchanges were all the rage. Yes, those were the days. Well, those days are long behind us. So, what exactly is the state of banner exchange advertising today? To understand that, you first have to understand the mentality of visitors coming to websites that have banners. Hopefully, this article will give you an insight into that mentality and what it’s done to the effectiveness of banner exchanges.

Because banners have been around so long, most people have basically become immune to them. I know that I personally don’t pay any attention to banners at all any longer. When I go to a website, I look for whatever information it is I went there to get. Your common Internet surfer has basically adopted the same type of mentality. Even the banner exchange companies will admit that some of the novelty has worn off. But that doesn’t mean that banner advertising or banner exchanges are dead. You just have to use a little more creativity to get people to notice them.

One of the things that people are now doing is using services that feature targeted banners similar to pay per click ads. As a matter of fact, Google Adsense gives you options for placing ads that are very similar to banner ads. With these targeted ads, visitors are more likely to click on them because they are usually better targeted to what they’re looking for. Statistics show that the click through rates on these banners are actually pretty good. BV Exchange is one of the sites that features this.

Another thing that is going on is that some webmasters are making what are called interactive banners. These are banners that require the visitor to enter in some information such as name and email to subscribe to a list. These interactive banners are not only more attractive, but they are also more functional. They’re not just there for eye candy. They actually do something important. These kind of banner exchanges actually benefit both sites, if they are in a related niche, quite well.

While it is true that banner exchanges and banner advertising is not as popular or as effective as it was in its hey day, you can still get a lot of mileage out of a banner exchange if you do it with a site that has a good amount of traffic and you use banners that are attractive and functional.

To YOUR Success,

Tips On How To Get Started With Guerilla Marketing Online

Pay close attention to this article because it contains marketing tactics that you have probably
never heard of. Let me briefly mention some very basic principles covered in the unique marketing system.

Ironically enough, guerilla marketing skills are used both in large corporations and small business.
However, even though large corporations have originally grown from small businesses using guerilla
marketing methods, they find the system itself is better suited for the smaller business. It’s also interesting that the principle that guerilla marketing was based on from the beginning still works
today. It’s been determined that it works because it is founded on how consumers react to a product rather than on experience or guesswork.

When using guerilla marketing methods, it is best to combine a number of skills by using the same principle in various ways rather than to rely completely on only one method. This means that you have to be open to different ways of doing business, advertising and getting clients. Stay on the cutting edge by using current technology, budgeting your time and resources, and making the most of your creative abilities rather than on spending money.

As you can see from these few tips, Guerilla Marketing can be invaluable to promoting a successful and profitable business. Not only is this system necessary to any new business owner, the plan it initiates is in some cases cost-free, and in this day and age that is rare. It is the most inexpensive marketing system and yet, it produces the greatest results in terms of profits. The best part, it does not require an entire lifetime to reach your goal.

Sure, it shows you how to gain new customers, but more importantly it shows you how to keep the ones you have. When a business has faithful customers, that business is going to grow. It’s that simple. Visit the website and discover this marketing system via download. You have nothing to lose but profits.

Richard Henderson runs his own internet marketing business from home and enjoys publishing articles and ebooks for websites as well as his own customers.

Internet Marketing Sales Pages - 10 Fundamental Tips You Should Use

1. Build Credibility. Besides mentioning the benefits, you should also put in testimonials of people who have already used and benefited from your product or service. This builds credibility.

2. Make It Memorable For Your Reader. Most unsolicited mails get tucked into the dustbin. Your mailer should have something unique for people to consider spending more time on it. For example, a car repair service might include the top 10 tips for car maintenance and so on.

3. Emphasize Aesthetics. The letter should be user-friendly. It should have attractive visual impact. The aesthetics should be well defined. Also, it should be easily navigable.

4. Include A Call To Action. Include a postcard, prepaid envelope and/or an order form. If not appropriate, supply a toll-free telephone number, an email link, and/or your URL.

5. Always Include An Enticement. The letter should include an incentive for acting promptly – a discount, special offer, gifts, and so on.

6. Resist Doing “Mail Merge.” Technology has made life easier no doubt. But try to avoid writing mass mailers. Customize each letter according to the needs of the reader.

7. Forge Everlasting Connections. Try and forge everlasting relations with your customers. For this you have to “under-promise” and “over-deliver.”

8. Test Market. Whatever technique you intend to apply, always test the market.

9. Hit The Right Chord. Your sales letter should not be too formal and full of jargon. That might inhibit the reader.

10. One Final Tip: Before sending out the mailers, make sure you have calculated all aspects. You would certainly not want to be flooded with offers without having the appropriate resources.

Should You Offer A Guarantee When Internet Marketing And How To Structure One If You Do!

If you offer a product or service without a guarantee, you might just be on the verge of losing a great percentage of potential sales. Nowadays, scams are widespread. Since there is no official police or moderator on the Internet, such scams are most likely even greater as a consequence.

Because of these swindlers and the huge number of challenges presented on the Web, people are mistrustful and will increasingly seek out more protected means to advantage from offers. Guarantees are, therefore, influential tools for the opulence-seeking marketer and can do two very vital things that will help grow one’s profits: Increase sales and reduce returns.

When you offer a guarantee, you diminish the cynicism around the purchase of your product or service. Consumers are reasonably careful and all the more when making purchases via the Web. And guarantees give you an almost immediate trustworthiness with possible customers.

Guarantees increase perceived value. Take for instance the story of the Monaghan brothers.

Both the brothers were into a home base business. They required money to pay through college. They worked in shifts and attended college when they were free in the other shift. After going through loss for about one year, one of the brothers sold his share in the business. The other stuck to the small pizzeria. In some interviews he recently gave, Tom Monaghan said that, he was not too sure that he was doing the right thing. And rest is history. His decision was the best one he ever made. His business based on a simple guarantee, “Pizza delivered fresh in 30 minutes or it’s free,” Domino’s Pizza became the billion dollar industry of today.

Guarantees increase sales and reduce returns. While people order, particularly from the Web because of the expediency it offers, an offer that provides a no harassment return policy adds to the expediency factor and instills a greater self-assurance in the buyer’s mind. So use guarantees to guarantee your success.

Seven Tips for a Grand Guarantee

1. Make the guarantee easy and unqualified. Drop the excuses and fine print.

2. Be sure your total organization believes in the operating philosophy dictated by the use of guarantees.

3. Be familiar with your clients enough to realize whether the guarantee at all helps the client.

4. A guarantee should be a two-way road, so include some upside if you surpass performance potential: ask for “success” fees.

5. Indicate which clients can claim the guarantee and which cannot. Restrict the number to minimum.

6. React quickly if a client requests that you make good on your guarantee.

7. Monitor your performance to save surprises.

Guarantees fall into five very different categories:

1. The Money-back guarantee: This guarantees that your customers won’t squander their time or money. It also defends customers if the product breaks or fails.

2. The Satisfaction guarantee: This guarantees that your customer will be happy and satisfied with your service or product.

3. Price protection guarantee: This can either offer a fixed price, ensuring the price and/or payment terms won’t change or increase (for example, life insurance) or ensure that they won’t find a lower price elsewhere.

4. On-time guarantee: This helps suppress the fears in time-crunched clientele. Businesses like printers, car repair shops, and cable companies can find such an offer tempting.

5. Absolutely No Questions Asked guarantee: This can be functional towards anything. Just try it out and see.
