12 Radio Ad Tips for Generating Calls, Building Lists, and Driving Web Traffic

Radio listeners are highly responsive. And radio ads are powerful, cheap, and simple to produce. Yet radio remains one of the most underused and poorly handled weapons in the direct marketing arsenal.

It\’s difficult to sell a product directly from a radio ad. But if you have a product with wide appeal, you can use radio to generate calls for your phone reps, build a direct mail list, or send traffic to your Web site.

Here are a few pointers for creating simple but effective direct response radio ads:

  • Buy 60-second spots. The radio sales rep will tell you that 30-second spots are cheaper and easier to place. That\’s true. But 30 seconds usually isn\’t long enough to develop and deliver a selling message. With 60-second spots, you\’ll get twice as much time for just a little more money per spot.

  • Use a straight announcer pitch. People are working, driving, cleaning the house, and doing all sorts of things in less than ideal listening conditions. So keep it simple. Just have an announcer talk directly to listeners. This has the added advantage of being more personal and less expensive than spots filled with actors and sound effects.

  • Identify and solve a problem. If you\’re selling an herbal product that gives people more energy, you should first identify the problem (lack of energy) then offer your product as the solution (more energy). “Feeling tired? Achy? Don\’t have the energy for the things you used to enjoy? Try new Vita-Herb. Vita-Herb will boost your energy, erase those aches and pains, and let you enjoy life again.”

  • Make a dramatic promise. This will strengthen your solution and make it more appealing. “Vita-Herb will make you feel ten years younger in just ten days!” The more dramatic and specific your promise, the better.

  • Guarantee results. Just as a promise strengthens your solution, a guarantee strengthens your promise. Again, be as specific as you can. “Try Vita-Herb for yourself. If you don\’t feel ten years younger in the first ten days, just send it back and we\’ll buy you a bottle of your favorite herb supplement. No questions asked.”

  • Offer something free. Since time is short and products can\’t be seen on the radio, it\’s hard to make direct sales. It\’s far more effective to offer information or samples to generate inquiries then make sales through telemarketing and direct mail. If you\’re selling a Posture Perfect Mattress, you could offer a free video. Then when you send the video, you could include a special $100 savings voucher. You can follow up with direct mail, phone calls, and additional information and offers.

  • Drive listeners to your Web site. This is an alternative to generating inquiries by phone. The trick is to capture information when people arrive at your site. If you\’re selling a self-study course on starting a business, you could offer a free report on the 25 fastest growing businesses. Then give people a Web address that takes them to a special page where they must enter a name and address to get the report. This way, you\’ll build a database for more targeted marketing.

  • Present a clear call to action. Don\’t be subtle. If you\’re offering a free brochure on a weight loss product, the announcer can simply say, “To request your free brochure on losing weight, call 1-800-LESS-FAT.” If you don\’t tell people what to do directly, simply, and specifically, they won\’t do it.

  • Use a memorable phone number or Web address. A number such as 1-800-ABCDEFG (for a reading program) or Web address such as www.faxbook.com (for a brochure on fax machines) can be easily remembered and acted upon. To fix it in your listener\’s memory, repeat it at least three times.

  • Force response with a time limit. The more specific, the better. “Call in the next thirty minutes for your free one-week sample of new Hair-Gain Hair Restoration Formula.” If people know they have to respond immediately, they will. If they think they can wait till later, you probably will never hear from them.

  • Focus on response. Don\’t settle for awareness. And don\’t rely on repetition, no matter what the radio sales rep tells you. You should be getting measurable response every time your ad runs. If you aren\’t getting response, your ad isn\’t working. And repeating the ad won\’t help.

  • Use humor carefully. From a selling standpoint, humor is hit-or-miss. And you always run the risk of upstaging the selling message. You can be lighthearted and friendly, of course, but you\’ll usually get a better response with a simple, straightforward delivery.

Increase Website Free Traffic - Traffic Exchanges Explained

If you have surfed the internet for very long, you have probably ran into what is referred to as a “traffic exchange”. There are absolutely hundreds of Traffic Exchanges designed in many ways, with many different functions. I’ll attempt to explain what they are and how they work.

A traffic exchange is, in simple terms, an exchange of internet traffic. The basic idea is to view the other exchange member’s websites or ads, and in return, different members will view yours. There are 2 basic types of traffic exchanges available today:

  1. The manual surf exchange. In this type of exchange, you manually click to view the other members websites or ads. Usually there is an anti-cheat method of some variety being used to ensure that the system is not being cheated.
  2. The auto-surf exchange. This system is easier to use, but far less effective. In essence, it runs automatically with no effort on your part, changing websites or ads every so many seconds. Obviously, if you can leave your computer whilst continuing to view websites, chances are, people aren’t viewing your ads either. However some of this will give high volumes of traffic to your site which could affect search engine rankings

Just about all exchanges will offer new members free “credits” or visitors just for signing up. This amount can vary between 50 free visitors all the way up to 10,000 free visitors or more. Bear in mind though, if everyone is given 10,000 free credits upon signing up…who is left to surf the exchange?

In addition to these and other sign up bonuses, other things to pay attention to when signing up for an exchange are surfing ratios, timer rate, referral bonuses, and extra features.

  • Surfing ratios. These can vary from 1:1 to 5:1 and up. What this means is that for every X amount of times you view someone else’s site, your site will be viewed in return Y amount of times. So if there is a 3:1 surf ratio, for every 3 sites you view, your site will be shown to someone else one time.
  • Timer rates. Is the amount of time that a website is shown to you before you can move to the next site. Average timer rates are about 30-15 seconds per site. On auto-surf exchanges, this is the amount of time before it automatically switches to the next ad. On manual exchanges, this is how long you must wait before you see the next site or else you will not receive credit for viewing the site.

Most exchanges also offer referral bonuses, by giving you extra credits for referring other people to the exchange (referred to as a “downline”). Often, exchanges will give you part of a credit for every page your referrals surf. Some exchanges offer nifty “extra” features, such as lotteries, games, trivia for points, ways to bet your points, and many other things to keep you from being bored as you click away.

So, how can you use it to actually get traffic? Obviously people will view your site if they see it in an exchange, right? Sadly, the truth is that this is not the case. 95% of all traffic exchange surfers pay no attention to the sites they are viewing, no matter how attractive their design and content. They are focused on the clicking to get credits, or in the case of many traffic exchange “pros” they have 20+ browser windows open and are clicking “next, next, next” one after the other with little regard to what is on the page before them. However, all is not lost! To get people to actually look at your site and pay attention to it! A few tips and tricks to use are:

  • Don’t make the page too large with too much information. In fact, a great thing to do is to make a splash page that catches their attention, with a “bookmark me” and “enter here” link, or a sign up form to a newsletter/autoresponder.
  • You have to be loud, bold, and fast! With only a 10-30 second window to catch someone’s eye, you have to be loud, bold, and fast! Use bright colors, get straight to the point, and offer a fast easy way for them to bookmark you or open your site in a new window so it doesn’t interrupt their surfing. That is why is it a good idea to make a separate page that you use only for exchanges.
  • Offer something that they want, that they will see and stay for. Free samples, free ebooks, and especially free advertising. Anything that you can give them that will give them an incentive to take a second look at your site.
  • Most exchanges won’t allow more than one popup window, if any. And when surfers hit a popup window, or anything else that interrupts their quest for credits, it merely annoys them and makes them want to leave your site faster.
  • Free traffic exchanges WILL get visitors to your site, and signups for programs and home business opportunities. But try to think like a surfer in order to do so. Make sure you are active in the exchange. the more people surfing, the more the exchange works.
  • Downline builder websites. There are many, many good traffic exchanges. So much so that recently there are many ‘downline builder’ websites available to help you build referrals in several home business programs at once.

So where can you find a good traffic exchange? I could list you many of the dozens I Personally use to build my Home Business Opportunities. Join just ONE traffic exchange and I guarantee within minutes of surfing you are shown promotions for a dozen more. Join how ever many you feel comfortable handling, you can always join more as you gain experience.

Cross -promote each taffic exchange in another, or several at once and watch your downlines ( and credits!) begin to grow. With this information you can make the most of traffic exchanges, and get visitors and customers to your website, promoting more of your Home Business Ideas or Opportunities. Its quick to learn and in most cases totally free of charge!

Happy surfing!

The Importance of the Six C’s

When you have a website used for commercial purposes you need to keep it updated and as full of information as possible. You should update it as often as possible and keep the six C’s in mind in an attempt to maximize your website’s potential. In order to do this, you must educate yourself about the six C’s before any updating is done.

Content is the main reason anyone will visit your site. You’ll be able to lure them there by supplying content that is readable as well as imperative to their needs. The information needs to be valuable and well written. Don’t sell too hard or your website will be left behind like a transiting New Yorker who’s just a few seconds late for the subway. People want to be informed, not sold. Your website should have plenty of information, fresh information that your competitors don’t have. Nothing will turn off visitors more than a repeated idea or two.

The currency of your website is crucial. Monthly updates will keep your website fresh and topical. People search the Internet for high quality information, which gives incentive to return.

Be consistent. The layout of your website should be similar on every page. Different formats have the tendency to confuse the visitors. If the homepage is done way, the rest of the links and pages should follow suit. After a customer visits you’re site they’ll develop a visual image of your product and website that they will expect each time they visit your website. You always want to promote the same message and stick with it.

Credibility is essential when making and maintaining a customer relations website. They need to know they can trust you and your product. You should pride yourself on being truthful and legit. You should keep the appearance of your site professional.

Convenience. This is the major selling point of your website. People want information in the easiest possible way they can get their hands on it. They want an easy to navigate website that will allow for education and enjoyment. Don’t try to confuse your visitor. State your points with clarity. You’re page should tell the visitor you know what they want and you know how to find it.

Top Traffic Tips

“Wisdom is what’s left after we’ve run out of personal opinions.”
Cullen Hightower

When searching for the best available listing of top traffic tips the path the task is not as easy as it appears. The journey is filled with detours that lead to a mixture of logical and reasonable sounding opinions often masquerading as facts. However once you narrow your focus to the basics, there are proven steps one can take to drive robust streams of traffic on a daily basis.

In my coaching sessions I like to suggest that newbies as well seasoned promoters keep a mixture of old school and contemporary/high tech traffic generators in their arsenal of traffic drivers.

My favorite old school methods are solo ads, banners and article marketing. Here’s a closer look at the details.

1. Solo Ads… A solo ad is an exclusive mailing sent out by itself to an entire subscriber database. Most often these ads are blasted to a highly concentrated list containing thousands of opt-in subscribers. The returns will average 2% or higher depending on the quality of the name list and timing of the campaign.

2. Banners have moved high and low in popularity over the years. It is not unusual to read an expert’s opinion indicating they are a waste of time and money. On the other hand you’ll see banner ads everywhere, even appearing as pop-ups on major advertiser’s pages. You will definitely experience success from maintaining a well placed banner campaign. My recommendation is to budget approximately 10% of your monthly ad budget for banner advertising. Naturally you will want to track your results.

3. Article Marketing is a natural addition to your old school advertising arsenal. There are several competitive factors that keep the big guys ahead of the pack. One formidable factor is their credibility. Sheer size alone builds credibility for many major players. By creating an article marketing campaign you can build your own base of credibility and yield very impressive returns for the effort.

There is no underground pathway to increasing the flow of traffic to your website regardless of what the latest guru may be spouting. Increasing your traffic is a hard work type of process that requires your complete focus. When you begin you want to have a plan of action with measurable steps.

1. Understand the ins and outs of search engines and don’t use outdated guides to direct how your invest your time and money. The major engines change their algorithms without notice. This requires a certain amount of nimbleness on your part in addition to good information.

2. Do not be too quick to discount the impact of Blogs. If you don’t have a half dozen or so active blogs you’ve got work to do right away. Even major players like Nike, GM, Victoria’s Secret to name a few, are discovering the power of blogs. Get busy with your research and surf a few hours each day to discover the numerous ways blogs are being used to generate credibility and traffic to a variety of business sites.

To summarize I’ll add a few tips for short cutting your path to building volumes of traffic to your sites.

1. Learn to increase backlinks by the dozen with each ad you create.
2. Market yourself.
3. Start writing articles to build your credibility and to tap into #1 & #2.
4. Get your articles published online and spread them out.
5. Write your plan in big letters across a stack of 3 X 5 cards and read them everyday until you’ve worn them out. Then re-write the batch with updates and repeat the process.
6. Give yourself a 90 day goal and don’t take a break until the morning of the 91st day.

I have never had a client fail to experience a measurable increase in their income who followed the above step. There is no reason for your experience to be different….if you duplicate the steps!

Getting Traffic to Your Squeeze Page, Part Two Blog Traffic

Last time, we discussed setting up a blog and getting content into it. We also talked a bit about getting search engine traffic to your blog. This time, let’s discuss other ways, which may be more immediate, for getting traffic to your blog. This, in turn, will send traffic for your squeeze page, too.

Organic traffic, or traffic that comes from search engines is great, but it may not start quite as fast as you want it to. So, there are many other options. Take search engines intended solely for blogs, for instance. Technorati.com is one of the oldest. Go there and “claim” your blog right now, if you haven’t already. That will get your blog indexed and ranked, and it’s social. People can favor your blog, and the more readers you get, the higher your blog will rank. The higher the ranking, the more visitors you’ll see coming to your blog, and so on. It’starget=”_New” like a snowball effect. There are other blog searches that aren’t interactive, like IceRocket.com and Blogsearch.Google.com, and they’re just as valuable. Be sure to get your blog entered into as many of these specialized search engines as possible.

Other interactive sites, like MySpace and YouTube, are all the rage right now. They’re part of the whole Web 2.0 scenario that’s been around a couple of years but is really just starting to heat up. Plenty of other Web 2.0 sites are available to join, and they’ll provide instant results:

StumbleUpon: This social bookmarking site works on the tag and favor principal. Each time you make a post to your blog, “StumbleUpon” it, which is like giving yourself a vote. If other people enjoy your posts, they’ll StumbleUpon them, too, and your traffic will grow.

Spicy Page: This site is more like MySpace in that you collect “friends,” who will no doubt vote on your blog. But the cool thing about SpicyPage is that you can also include your websites, so you’ll have both your blog and your list building page bringing in traffic from there. Be sure to upload your sites to this one ASAP.

Digg: The Digg community was created to provide links and reviews to news stories as they happen. You can see exactly what’s being “dugg” and “buried” if you go to their “Digg Spy” feature, which is pretty cool. Just be sure that the entries you add to Digg are good articles, not photos or videos so much. Just be sure that whatever you Digg is quality information. The last thing you want is for your blog to be “buried.”

Web 2.0 sites are proliferating by the minute. Other names include Blue Dot, Ma.gnolia, and Markaboo, but there are hundreds. Sign up for as many as you can and mark your posts in as many as you can every day. You’ll be amazed at the traffic you’ll get from these services.

Another Web 2.0 way to get traffic is:

Wikipedia: This user-written online encyclopedia can be a great source of traffic. But be sure that you’ve provided quality content on the topic in order for your listing to be accepted. For instance, I have an ADHD blog, and we added the link to it at the end of several different attention deficit entries. We get lots of traffic from all of them. Just be sure to follow the editorial guidelines when posting, or your link will be erased by the editors.

Each of these sources is a good way to get traffic, but if you blog and favor in several sites every time you make a post, you’ll really be amazed at the amount traffic you get. Don’t overlook this. Web 2.0 isn’t going away anytime soon, and you’ll be missing a valuable resource if you do. For more sites like these go to http://www.go2web20.net/ .

Next time, let’s discuss writing articles to get traffic to your list building pages.

Article Marketing Secrets to Improve Your Website Traffic I

Although article marketing is commonly used by many to market their business, there are some specific article marketing secrets that you can use to improve your website traffic and the effectiveness of your articles.

Many people will write an article on a topic that they know something about, put it on one of their web pages as content then consider it a good idea to submit to article directories to provide publicity for their site. But do they understand exactly how the article provides them with this publicity, or have they simply read that such is the case? From many examples I have seen, the latter is true rather than the former.

What you must learn is how your articles work to improve your traffic, and what part the article directories play in this. You must also learn how your article must be written and presented for maximum effect in this respect. Do you know the peculiarities of every article directory you submit to, for example? Are you using article submission software? If so are completely familiar with how it works, and whether or not your articles are being submitted to the better directories that require individual login information?

If you have not provided with submission software with your login details, how can they possibly submit your article. That’s secret number one. Many submission software packages simply submit to the directories that require no login information, and you are missing out on the good sites that have a high page rank that can help your own rankings. Unless you, personally, have to enter your login details for every individual article directory to the submission package or site of your site, then your article cannot be submitted.

Article Marketing Secrets to Improve Your Website Traffic II

I have stated that as the first secret since it is a misconception that may people have regarding directory submissions. It is common sense really, as are the other so called ’secrets’. Take the actual writing, for example. If this is not in English and cannot be easily understood, then you are onto a loser. If you are writing for the internet in general, then the universal language is English. Sure, most people speak different languages, but you will get nowhere writing an article in your own language anywhere except in those countries where your language is that spoken by most of the population.

There should be as few spelling and grammar mistakes as possible. Some people will tolerate no spelling errors, since everybody should have access to a spell checker, and if the feeling will be that if you can’t be bothered getting that right, then what attention to detail do you use in your product? I concur with that reasoning.

Most errors are made in the ‘author’s resource box’, provided by many, but not all, article directories. Sometimes called the ‘bio’, this a box set aside for the author to provide some personal information and a link back to their website. This is frequently misused and can lose you a lot of traffic.

You article should be pertain to a specific topic, which can be the theme of your website, or that of a specific page of your website. For example, if you are writing about aquarium fish, your article could be about keeping fish in general, or about guppies. If your article is a general one, then it is fine to provide a link back to your website URL. What that does is to lead the visitor to your home page, which will, or should be, on aquarium fish in general.

Article Marketing Secrets to Improve Your Website Traffic III

On the other hand, if your article is written on the subject of guppies, then your resource box must provide a link back to your web page dealing with guppies. If not, although your reader clicked on your link for more information, the subject of your article was guppies, so they want more information on guppies, not your home page. If they land on anything but a guppy page, statistics show a roughly 90% chance of them clicking away.

That’s a secret that most article writers don’t seem to understand or know! Another is connected with your ‘bio’ or ‘resource box’. A large number of directories do not offer this, and the resource and links has to be added at the end of the article. Again going back to submission software, not all is able to do this. Much software can only do this if there is a specific section for it; otherwise the most important part of your article is omitted! This is the part that is the reason why you are writing, and it can be omitted unless you are sure what your submission service is capable of.

Finally, last secret. If you are allowed html, then make sure that the submission software strips it for those sites that do not accept it. Also make sure that the sites that accept it strip it if they pass it on to other sites that don’t. There is nothing more ugly, and damaging to your business, that an article appearing with the entire html tags intact. Believe me, this happens, and it looks bad. It indicates an amateurism that is sufficient to persuade me not to do business with this person.

So there you are. Learn these article marketing secrets to improve your website traffic and it will do what it says on the tin. Improve your website traffic!

Secrets to Creating High Volume Web Traffic

A steady and substantial flow of web traffic is critical for generating income for your website. If no one goes to your website, it barely stands any chance of generating any income, let alone profits. Thousands of sites have tried and failed in traffic generation, becoming obscured and forgotten. Many websites spend a lot on advertisements to ensure their prosperity or survival. At the same time, there are many websites that use low cost techniques to generate traffic very successful. This article aims to reveal some of these cost efficient traffic generation strategies that help websites create high volume web traffic.

Online forums are popular venues where your can convey your product message and generate publicity for your website. Membership to these groups is usually free. A key advantage of forums is that it is a gathering online of people with a common interest, be it golf, role playing games, gardening, etc. By joining a forum, you can reach a large number of highly targeted audiences very quickly and effectively. On the forums, you can participate in discussions and at the same time, place links to your website in your messages or in your profile resource box.

Links exchange with other webmasters who are in a similar niche as you is a sure fire method to generate great traffic to your site. Many webmasters are willing to exchange links with one another so that they could produce more publicity for their websites. It is a win-win situation and you will see the surge in traffic coming to your site. Links exchange also increases your chances of getting a high ranking in search engine results. This is because search engines like Google rank sites that have inbound and outbound theme related links highly. A high position in the search engine results will in turn generate greater volume of traffic to your website.

Everyone likes free downloads on the internet and this can be leveraged to create massive web traffic. Giving away free products or articles is highly effective in generating publicity for your website and is a method used by almost all the experienced internet marketers. It will be easier for marketers who have a big collection of many different products to select one product to give away for free. However, marketers who do not have such luxuries should not shy away from using free downloads and lose hundreds of potential new customers. If you do not have a free product, just create one. The key elements of the free product download are:
1) a quality product with value that can attract people to download
2) the product must contain links to your website
Even though it may appear that you are losing profits on the free download, the objective should not be profits but to gain as much publicity as possible. With the publicity, the profits will come naturally.

There are also other traffic generation techniques available and used by internet marketers with varying degrees of success. However, it may be sufficient to use just the two or three strategies as have been described in this article to create high volume web traffic. The key is to take action and apply the techniques diligently.

Flood Your Website With Much Needed Traffic

Web traffic is an important part of the internet traffic, consisting of the data sent and received by a visitor to a web site. The total web traffic for a site is determined by the number of users visiting the site and the pages from the web site they visited. The upper limit for the traffic on a website is called bandwidth and is the maximum traffic the site can support at a given moment.

There are various methods to generate traffic to your website including being able to submit your website to all the major search engines, however over submitting can sometimes result in having your site banned.
It is also essential to have quality Meta tags for your site and to have those Meta tags optimized, this means checking your website’s Meta tags, making sure that the site is search engine optimized, this will greatly boost your chances of being listed by the major search engines known.

It’s important to know how many visitors come to your site, which pages of your website are the most visited and which pages should be improved to attract traffic. For this you need to measure the traffic.

Fortunately, there are many sites that offer monitoring and measuring services. Of course some websites offer free website submission to search engines, others provide meta tag analysis, whereas the paid version offers a great deal more, some have advanced traffic tracking software, which enable you to track all traffic to your website including, Multi-page Hits, All Referrers, Current online users, etc.

The more traffic it attracts, the more popular the site is considered. You can use various techniques to increase your site traffic and popularity: Some of these include, banner exchanges, paid advertising, free give aways like eBooks, demos, free presentations, etc.
It is important to track the number of visitors to your site, the average page view per visitor, average page viewing duration, average visit duration, busy time of the server, the visitor’s country, visit times, most used search engine by the visitors, etc

This monitoring can be useful in controlling the traffic on your web site and knowing which parts of the site are most popular.
Google ranking is very important, as well is Yahoo and MSN, these are the most popular search engines. The website needs to be on the first pages of the popular search engine, in order to increase visitors to your site.

Almost every site is exposed to hacking, which has become a very “popular and dangerous” pastime, so you can easily see that security for a site is very important. For the traffic, the ugliest attack is DOS (denial of service) or even crashing the site using viruses or Trojans as a gateway for viruses. To avoid this you should have a back-up for your site, or even store it in different locations.
